Hi ladies,

Just wondering if anyone is due in the next couple of weeks and wants to keep a thread of how they're feeling, their daily struggles or keep updated with labour stories etc?!

I'm 38+0 and have been having niggles for a week or so. I have mild polyhydramnios and have been told to expect baby anytime soon, although some days I don't feel pregnant and feel I still have ages to go!

How're you feeling and have you had any signs that your LO will be making an appearance anytime soon?

Blank, Cherry had a sweep and it seemed to work pretty quickly! If I'm offered a sweep ill be taking it.

Tried DTD last night, ouch!! Uncomfortable and then painful...and no sign of baby whatsoever! Sad

Hi ladies, back from my last growth scan and consultant appointment, baby is still measuring big but only about 8lb and consultant told me she is well and truly in position so could be any day now. Today I feel more uncomfortable than normal and she does feel even lower than before, although I dont know how thats possible!
It's quiet on here today, so hopefully that means there are some more birth stories on the way, I will keep checking in. Good luck if it is happening for you. xx

bambi07 · 16/02/2015 15:43

Hazel, there isnt a prayer my OH will even give that a go, he has been put off by bump for a long time now. Even got me a valentine card with a whale on, just to remind me of my size, how sweet! Angry He didnt get one! x

hazel88 · 16/02/2015 15:49

Shock charming! How many weeks are you now? I'm 39+2 and can't feel much in the way of signs that DD's arrival is imminent. Have had the odd fanny dagger and belly tightening today but definitely not feeling as though I'm close. Sounds promising for you, hope you're not waiting much longer!

Hazel, didn't realise we were so close in Due Dates! I'm two days on. I was feeling more pregnant last week that I am this week!

Cherry, I'm hoping to follow in your Sweep footsteps! Congrats by the way!! I'll definitely be asking for a sweep on Wednesday now! Shock

bambi07 · 16/02/2015 16:09

I'm 38.5 today and I'm hopeful she's on her way because they are keen to induce and I'm not at all keen. Hoping for it all to happen naturally. You never know though you could be closer than you think, speaking to my sister yesterday she said she didn't feel anything then waters just went and then straight to contractions and a midwife I spoke to said fanny daggers can be an imminant sign for some. I think everyone's experience is so different it's impossible to know. Sending labour inducing thoughts your way! Grin x

hazel88 · 16/02/2015 16:09

I'm the same blank, felt more pregnant last week! All has gone quiet recently and this week is the due date! I'm convinced I'll go over now. As soon as I'm offered a sweep I'll be taking it! Keep us updated, I'm interested to hear how you're feeling bearing in mind we're so close to one another!

That's interesting to hear about the 'Fanny Daggers' as I've had lots of them although not so much the past couple of days.

Will do Hazel. If I'm being honest, I actually feel really good. I did have a lot of soreness around my pelvic area but not anymore. I'm feeling uneasy about things though, as in, everyone is telling me to enjoy the peace and go to bed during the day but I can't, I'm too restless! I'm just back from IKEA where I bought nothing but lunch! I get antsy if I sit around and wait... normally I'm a lazy git!! It's hard to know whether the bump has dropped when I'm looking at it every day! I've been losing plug (sorry tmi) for the past 2 weeks. Got really excited at first as I thought this was it but now I'm just realising that there must be loads of the stuff! How about you?

hazel88 · 16/02/2015 16:46

Oh my god you managed ikea?! You must be feeling good! I just about managed a very short waddle to the shop earlier and felt my back forced so far forward which I haven't felt before, I felt like a real pregnant woman haha couldn't have been attractive to look at! I've dropped alot over the past few weeks.

From asking other women, I think the fanny daggers are supposed to be the cervix thinning out. So fanny daggers are good I guess!

Wow you've been losing your plug for a while! I haven't had any show or loss of plug. For someone who is so anal when it comes to planning, this pregnancy malarkey isn't easy...I need dates and times haha Grin

Hello, yes sweep worked almost immediately for me. Brought on light period pains, went for two long walks as midwife told me to in order to get things progressing. About 4 hours later front waters broke ( yep we seem to have front and back waters) still not a great deal happened until the evening when I went into full intense labour v.quickly!!

I think I'm going home tomorrow yay Smile x

hazel88 · 16/02/2015 16:54

Great news Grin Wine Thanks

Well you can lose your plug weeks before you go into labour so it's really nothing to be getting excira over!! I know. I had my heart set on a February baby. If I go over by 10 days, they'll induce me in which case it'll be a March baby.

I'm here sucking back the raspberry leaf tea, have the curry on, DH might get some action again tonight and all between bouncing on the birthing ball! This stuff is all very tiring!

I'm loving your sweep story Cherry. On a scale of one to ten... how 'uncomfortable' was it?!

Phantomteadrinker · 16/02/2015 18:17

Hi all, congrats Jodie, glad all is going well.

Thought I'd update to say that my little girl was born this morning. Rather dramatic as went to hospital and was actually 8cms but had loads of problems including her head being side on, cue unsuccessful pushing, a lot of pain and eventual emcs - but she's snuggled up in her cot now and all is good!

Just thought I'd share that the thing that worked for us was going on a very long walk on Sunday, and the going into labour that night.

Hope you all have some babies soon, good luck all Smile

hazel88 · 16/02/2015 18:35

Aww congratulations phantom! Glad to hear all is well now, well done Smile Thanks

Phantom and Jodie huge congrats!!!!! Flowers loving this thread so much and hearing your stories!!

Phantom sounds like your baby was as naughty as mine! She was all curled up hence the c-section. She was all set before labour and then decided to move back to back and then curl up into a ball!

Blank the sweep was not painful in the slightest but I was 2 days overdue so my cervix was ready. Plus I had started losing my show a good week before the sweep. I think a lot of the time if you have a sweep too early they don't work as your cervix isn't ready, that's what the midwives told me and proves true. Plus it's a lot less painful of you wait until your cervix is ready. I was already 1cm when it was done hence why it didn't really hurt.

Xx

Zsazsabinks · 16/02/2015 18:50

Congratulations Phantomteadrinker!! [flowes] Have you got a name for her? How are you feeling?

Nothing doing here, not even a twinge. Had enough now, especially of well meaning phone calls and my bloody mother with her constant texting, she was laughing at me yesterday too, grrrrrrr, she knows exactly which buttons to push!!!!!

Very, very fed up and looking forward to the midwife tomorrow at 40+5. :(

Zsazsabinks · 16/02/2015 18:50

Meant to do Flowers for phantomteadrinker!

Cherryblossom200 · 16/02/2015 18:51

Oh and second long walk to bring on labour too!!!

Cherryblossom200 · 16/02/2015 18:53

Oh zsazsa Sad I feel for you I really do Flowers have you had a sweep yet?

bambi07 · 16/02/2015 18:54

Congratulations phantom, I'm glad everything is all well now and baby is safe and well. Xxx

Zsazsabinks · 16/02/2015 18:58

I had one last Tuesday too. Had contractions on and off every night all week often keeping me up until past midnight, dodgy tummy and been losing mucous plug like nobody's business, it's disgusting! Nothing actually develops into anything though, this is the first time I've gone over too, so even though I'm only 4/5 days over, it feels, to me, like nearer two weeks!

Exhausted with the other two DC running around and with constantly feeling like "is this it?" only to have it peter out to nothing. I mainly just want to swear a lot at everything and everyone!!!! Horrible cow to be around at the moment. Urgh.

Tonight I feel even less than I have any other night so I know there's nothing doing and it's depressing.

Rant rant rant!!!!

hazel88 · 16/02/2015 19:00

Let it all out ZsaZsa, we're all listening Smile as much as it must piss you off hearing this, it really can't be long for you now Thanks

Just catching up. Congratulations to the new babies! Love hearing the birth stories & any advice you ladies can give us from the other side of this bloody pregnancy thing Confused
I'm walking about 2-3 miles a day, my dog is loving it! Have got a sweep on Wednesday, just really hope my cervix is favourable. Would be ideal if baby came towards the end of the week then my husband would be off work. He's self employed so not actually taking any time off except normal weekends.
Have been googling other ways to induce labour seeing as my husband is refusing to have sex with me Shock will definitely be getting my own back there once baby is born Wink
Anyway, Dr Google suggested nipple stimulation! Anyone tried it? I'm going to ask midwife about it on Wednesday, willing to give anything a try at this point!

hazel88 · 16/02/2015 19:04

Mrs Corr I read on another thread that for nipple stimulation to have any effect you'd need to do it 3 times a day for an hour each time!

OP posts:
Zsazsabinks · 16/02/2015 19:13

I'm all for a bit of nipple twiddling, even if it doesn't actually start labour.

It's good to get some practise in hand expressing and seeing the boobs in action in preparation for breastfeeding.
