Here we go, as promised...

Yes Dino, I am M2T. Not in disguise though, just got really bored of my name.

So this thread can be a record of the last half of our pregnancies. I'm going to print out the original as a nice log of the first 5 months of the pregnancy.

This is thread we'll all be posting on when we go into labour!! I'm all excited now.

Why the name toothache?

I need to discuss labours with everyone, did everyone have an epidural? I did and ended up having an emergency c, not sure if this slowed down my labour or not (midwives said not). Am chicken am may go for an elective this time round cluck cluck cluck.

Toothache · 27/04/2004 17:07

OO - My DH used to call me his little Toothache when we first started going out..... I'm sure it was meant as a compliment.

I didn't have an epidural although I did scream for one. The MW told me that it would slow things down and that I was progressing quite quickly on my own.... so I finally agreed not to have one and I was pushing 2 hrs later.

I'm sure a Mears will be able to clarify this, but I think epidurals do tend to prolongue labour... and I'd say that if there is no medical reason to have a section then why put your body through the trauma.... I'm sure you'll have no probs at the birth. Mind you..... you're a celebrity afterall aren't you..... will this be a Portland Baby?

ruffles feathers<

No, bog standard NHS for moi. In fact it is a very good standard NHS, was treated like queen.

I am going to try for a normal birth but am scared tbh. Have girls night in next week so will grill my friends again on their gory stories, they have 11 births between 4 of them!

omigod, toothache, that's scary somehow!

Oliveoil, I haven't had an epidural with either of mine. Had pethidine with DS1 (big mistake) managed to squeeze DS2 out without any pain relief (it was very fast though).

I am extremely scared too and am starting to hope that I will have placenta praevia and therefore a good excuse for a caesarean...only joking...no I'm not....

dinosaur · 27/04/2004 18:23

Podmog I did know someone who had a nightmare first labour, induced and everything, then have independent midwife second time around, from memory I think she was about 44 weeks before baby decided the time had come, she had a drug-free natural birth at home and was just as pleased as could be with the whole thing.

oo, we are in Whitford, south of Auckland, off peak we can be in Auckland in 30 mins but have the benefits of living on 11 acres and 10 mins from the sea. A far cry from London/Essex where I grew up. Only problem is so far from home and family for me...will be hard when the baby arrives but shan't think about that too much yet...

I had a sweep follwed by induction at 42 weeks, opted for epidural and ended up with emergency c/s after 24 hour labour having sat at 7cm forever. I am positive the epidural stopped the labour but am not sure what I am going to do this time. I threw up throughout the labour, gas made it worse so didn't fancy pethidine (even with an anti-emetic) so opted for epidural. Am really not sure what I am going to do this time. Consultant has said that unless I go into spontanious labour he would go straight for a c/s and skip the induction and labour as chances are will end up with another c/s but who knows?!?!?! Have to see him again at 38 weeks.

This thread is quiet and the other one has been resurrected, but I can't load it.

Anyway, here's an update: I have been feeling better in the past week than I have done for the whole pregnancy! I am actually enjoying being pregnant.

The baby's kicks are huge and reassuring, the SPD seems to have totally calmed down since I've stopped travelling and my headaches have eased off. I have an antenatal appointment on Wednesday and am looking forward to going and NOT grumbling!!
I have a stitch like pain when I walk too much, which has started exactly when my book said it would! I remember panicking last time, but now I know it's only the stttrrrrrrrretch.

Hope everyone is doing well too. The April thread has nearly 100% graduate... now onto May, June, then it'll be us on the final countdown. I still think this will be a July baby.

hi toothache so glad to hear you are feeling better - it's very warm here today (Central London) just sat out on the grass for lunch.

Glad you are all having twinges and stitches feel relieved I am not alone.

I think I will have a July baby as well somehow (sue me hanging about until the end of August)!

Toothache · 01/05/2004 17:10

SK - It's beautiful here too, but can't get near anywhere nice to sit out..... I'm on a Petrochemical Plant.

My DH has guessed the birth day as 25th July. That would make me 38+2.... perfect.

Ho hum - 25+3 at the moment. Might only have 13wks to go!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!

OP posts:
SpringChicken · 01/05/2004 17:20

Scary thinking of it like that isn't it?

I'm 29+2 at the mo so only 10+5 weeks til due date and am waiting on test results for OC (Liver probs), if they come back positive, could be induced at 38 weeks. That means baby could be here in 8 weeks.....................AARRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

sibble · 01/05/2004 23:06

maybe it's wishful thinking on all of our parts but I have 31st July in my mind for some reason for the baby's birthdate. Am seeing the consultant around then at 38 weeks to discuss options so maybe.... went to 42 weeks with DS so teh prospect of delivering 1 month earlier is great (I think)!!!!
25 weeks today.

oliveoil · 02/05/2004 18:07

Help, my brain has gone walkabout. Today I left my just purchased shopping at the checkout in Tesco's and my umbrella in H&M! Keep forgetting clients names at work as well and asking them twice who they are. Anyone else getting forgetful? Didn't get this last time.

Thanks for all your thoughts on epidurals, think I may start a thread on this, really preying on my mind lately, getting scared of the birth .

Toothache - glad you are feeling better, your body is telling you to take it easy SO LISTEN!!! (she says painting the hall then trying to hide the brushes from dh........)

sponge · 02/05/2004 20:53

35+6 today. First day back at work after a week's holiday and had a bit of bleeding after I'd been in only an hour, so left again at 11.30 to go to hospital to get it checked.
I have a low lying placenta which apparently is quite a common cause of bleeding. It was very light so they let me go home although I have to take it easy - shame, dh will have to cook dinner and put dd to bed!
On Friday I have a glucose test as my bloods showed lightly raised blood sugar. Why so many problems this time round - everything went without a hitch with dd?
I had a epidural first time and I'm pretty sure it slowed things down. I was progressing quite well for the first 4 hours but then had epidural and then took another 8 hours to deliver and that only with the help of a ventouse as dd was getting distressed. I'd love to try without this time but I'm scared of the pain and may chicken out if it takes too long or hurts too much. Gas & air did nothing for me and don't fancy pethadine at all.

sponge - you take it easy as well, I have made myself the Mother Hen for this thread and will be watching for overexertion from anyone .

I see the midwife today, not got anything to report but nice to have b/p and pee checked for reasurrance. Still getting twinges at the top of my right leg, might mention that to her.

hi everyone hope you are all well. 26 weeks today and have put on about half a stone in a week (serves me right for moaning I hadn't put on any weight for months) my bump looks so much bigger AND I got offered a seat on the bus and train yesterday . Babies kicking like mad now as well but it's great.

Annoyed at Babies R Us because I ordered some things online and they can't deliver as I live in a flat (no neighbours to take packages) work full time they don't deliver on Saturdays or to business addresses. I don't know how I am going to get the package now, I asked them to leave it in the cupboard outside the flat but they cannot even do this .

Don't you just hate that when you have to have time off work?
But serioulsy it is sooooo annoying when mail order/ internet companies do this. Don't they realise that we have to go to work to earn the money to buy their stuff? Why can't they make it easier to have it delivered?
We also live in a flat (upstairs) and recently had to trawl through masses of internet suppliers and not get best deal in order to get one who would bring a new frige/freezer upstairs rather than leave it at the door. How did they think I was going to get it up there?

Toyiba · 04/05/2004 02:13

hi everyone, i've bin away for a while. to relieve some ov my stress due to my P.

i'm 25+3, and am very anxious now. i've moved upto leeds, so have bin travelling alot. Now i am goin to relax.

i'm feeling alot of movement but it's not so much as kicks, its more like a flutter, as if i've got butterflies in my stomach. It does feel good though.

My P has been more involved with me and my pregnancy, as i'm showing alot. I think he's coming to terms with it now, and seem excited too.

sweetkitty · 04/05/2004 12:12

hiya got the delivery yesterday they left it outside the door very nice Winnie the Pooh things as well, not too sure about the bouncer chair though looks really flimsy but think it's me being paranoid!

sibble · 05/05/2004 11:26

hi all
Had appointment with midwife this morning and apart from low blood pressure everything seems fine which is good news. Am now counting babies movements to ensure moves 10x/day - is this a kiwi thing as can't remember doing this with DS?? Hopefully am starting antenatal stretch classes in the morning - depending on DH's ability to look after Ds as he is out at a work function this evening!!!! Aparantly at the end there is a huge meditation session and you massage your partners back - worth going just for that I think.
have good weekends everybody

sweetkitty · 05/05/2004 12:08

morning all another miserable morning! Tripped and fell yesterday, slipped in the rain and fell over but managed to fall on my hand and knee. My knee is now killing me more embarrassed than anything else.

Happy Bank Holiday Weekend everyone
