Last thread ended with a series of Really Good News, so let's hope this one keeps up the trend!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Thank you for your words of comfort. I will probably do another test in a week a digital one just to see how far along it says I am. I already have one, I don't plan on buying any more tests so that's it.

DP is of the mind that we are normal until everything is safe and then we can plan, buy and get excited. Good idea but easier said than done. The 8 week scan is my count down now so 4 weeks to go - approximately!

I have an irrational fear of having sex early in pregnancy.

Thank you all for your advice and kind words and listening to my ramblings.

Today I am pregnant!

DoctorDonnaNoble · 16/01/2015 20:01

Flumpy - me and DH are the same, paranoid about sex but then my boobs are so sore and tender I'm not really up for it at the minute!

broodylicious · 16/01/2015 20:03

charlie, that's brought tears to my eyes about your babies receiving gifts from older siblings. What an absolutely beautiful way of thinking x

Flumpy2012 · 16/01/2015 20:09

Charlie I also love that idea of the gifts. So beautiful xx

thesmallbear · 16/01/2015 21:28

Don't worry about the lack of sex in pregnancy thing. I'm 16 weeks and we've only done it twice. Been too sick/tired/worried etc. Hoping to catch up this weekend though Wink

silverine · 16/01/2015 21:34

Well, we've not done it AT ALL since the bfp. Shock DH too nervous but neither of us really misses it too much, just focusing on the bean inside Wink

thesmallbear · 16/01/2015 21:38

I think as long as there's still plenty of cuddles etc it's fine. It's not like it's forever.

Treaclepie19 · 16/01/2015 23:19

Ouch my boobs hurt badly!!!
Had to have my bra on longer than normal.

First time they've really been painful and I've decided it's a bad sign as I'd not had it at all whereas with my mc I had it constantly. Since its just appeared ive decided something is wrong.
I'm crazy.

We've not had sex either. I also have an irrational fear of it affecting something.

longestlurkerever · 16/01/2015 23:32

I have never heard sex being a cause of mc. I haven't been abstaining - well, except by falling asleep at 8pm!

silverine · 16/01/2015 23:40

Of course it wouldn't affect anything, for us it's just a psychological thing...

Mslad · 17/01/2015 00:47

We're also in the none at all (dtd) camp...and we know it's psychological and crazy but just haven't brought ourselves to do it (I've read of a lot of people experiencing labour style cramps after- I would freak right out if that happened) & I can't see it changing the bigger I get!

happygojo · 17/01/2015 07:49

We have dtd once since bfp, just not in the mood (despite many a sex dream!) then my bf had is appendix out so we aren't even sharing a bed atm! I am hoping that a happy scan will coincide with us both wanting to get jiggy. Especially as my endometriosis has calmed a lot.... As long as he doesn't touch my boobs! Ouchy!

thesmallbear · 17/01/2015 08:42

I'm not worried sex will cause an MC. It's just at the beginning I was too sick and tired to be up for it. Then on the one day when I thought, "I feel good today, maybe we'll get jiggly later", the nurse called to say the bean had an increased risk of downs - mood killed!

thesmallbear · 17/01/2015 09:06

Treacle - the boobs are definitely a good sign!

Treaclepie19 · 17/01/2015 09:09

Thanks smallbear :)
I think they hurt last night as they were squished in a bra all night. Not so sore this morning but I do have my hungover feeling.
Woke up to snow so it's all good :)

DoctorDonnaNoble · 17/01/2015 09:11

My boobs are definitely hurting earlier and more than last time! Don't really want DH anywhere near them at the moment.
Also, quite pleased I'm not off my porridge this time. I'm rubbish at deciding what to have for breakfast.

broodylicious · 17/01/2015 09:12

Yay for sore boobs treacle!

Oh small, sorry to hear that. Will you have to have the cvs test? Xx

Gosh small, sorry I completely missed that.
Sorry to hear that, how much is the increase? X

thesmallbear · 17/01/2015 09:13

Donna - I was off porridge early on, which I thought was odd really as it's quite plain.

DoctorDonnaNoble · 17/01/2015 09:15

Struck me as bizarre as well small. Think it was a consistency thing.
More bizarre is not only have I turned down cheesecake this week, but I also ate less than half my Indian takeaway last night!

thesmallbear · 17/01/2015 09:22

Treacle - I got a 1/80 chance on the screening NHS tests (think the average is 1/1000). If your chance is in range 1/2 to 1/150 you get offered more tests. They NHS offer amniocentesis which gives you a 100% yes/no answer, but there is a 1% risk of miscarriage so I declined.

I opted to pay for a private test called Harmony. It's not 100% yes/no answer like amniocentesis, but A LOT more accurate than the NHS screening test. Anyway, £500 later, my results came back yesterday. This much more accurate test pus my risk at having a baby with Down's at a 1/10,000 chance (0.01%). So it's very unlikely the bean has Down's. I'd have to be very unlucky to be the 1 in 10,000.

It was such a relief and the best £500 I've ever spent!

Treaclepie19 · 17/01/2015 09:25

That's good to hear smallbear, definitely worth it to put your mind at rest.

You also can decline the Downs test if you want to on the NHS, you're not obliged to take it. I'd be totally fine having a Downs kid (although we have close friends who have one which has probably impacted my view a lot) but I'd like to know so I can prepare. I'm much more scared of other congenital issues like a heart problem. I thought about Harmony which I'll probably do if, like smallbear my NHS one comes back with a highish risk.

smallbear what week were you when you had it? I'm still going back & forwards on it but I'm 14w next week so wondering if it's really too late. Not sure I could TFMR for any reason at this point so might just be better to get to my 20w scan and worry about it all then.
