Really embarrassed to be asking this, I swear I'm not the poo troll!

I have name changed because I really don't want this to be linked to my normal name!

Basically, I'm really constipated, I've read its a common pregnancy symptom so does anyone have any immediate relief ideas?

I'm getting to be in so much pain, I don't know what to do, we are supposed to be having a lovely christmas shopping and decorating day tomorrow, and I don't want this to ruin it!

I know about water/fibre/exercise etc but what can I do to sort it now?! I'm so sorry for asking this Blush

Indeed!

I'm glad that the movicol has worked for you Grin

I wish they told you about this at NCT classes! Would have saved me a very embarrassing trip to the walk-in clinic and a finger up the bum.
At least I had a store of saved movicol for second time around Grin
You can take lactulose long term if needs be, it's pretty harmless. I would take a spoonful or two a day until your digestive system is back to normal. I took it for about 5 months after dd was born (and prune juice, plenty of fruit like pears, plums, rhubarb, oranges every day). Also, avoid bananas- these bung me up like nobodies business.

Ahh shit. I've just eaten a banana after reading they were a good source of fibre. Will be off to have a glass of Movicol in a minute then! Will definitely keep some back for after birth, I struggled last time.

Just don't want to end up with being really loose now, I have plans for tomorrow and the weekend!

There's so much they don't tell you before you decide to have babies. After DS I had 2nd degree tears, the MW actually put a finger up my bum to check I wasn't torn there too Shock

Fellow lurker here who is very very glad all is well again and things are slowly sorting themselves out.
Is it bad that I have been enthralled and also giggling slightly at all the wonderful honesty. I never went through constipation during my pg (I suffered from diarrhoea instead and actually pooped in my pants, thankfully I was home at the time and was wearing tights! Ahhh the memories)
Anyway I love how honest and frank you become after giving birth, nothing is off limits and it's brilliant!!

Roxie85 · 03/12/2014 21:02

Oh and I suffered a 3rd degree tear so got several fingers up the bum that were then swirled around to check all was healed!

What a relief- excuse the pun- Smile

Glad it's all 'normal'.
