I am such an innocent - I had no idea this was an affair between two MNers! I must be on here with my eyes shut. I'm so bloody thick, I still can't even work out who the two in question are. All sounds really sad though, so probably just as well.

CappuccinoTheHaikuPedant · 09/10/2006 12:10

I don't hear any mention of autumn in your haikus

not even a crisp Autumn apple or a squirrel

I think these haikus would best be described as senryus

"A close cousin to the haiku is the senryu, which has many of the same goals, but deals humorously or even sarcastically with ?human nature?, and does not require a reference to nature or seasonal reference. "

if you're going to do it, do it right, as George Michael has quite fortuitously pointed out already for us

(three lines with 17 or fewer syllables, in case you're wondering)

willow2 · 09/10/2006 12:10

T'is true though. Had long conversation over coffee this morning with couple of MN old timers - couldn't believe how far removed this weekend's threads are from those 5 years ago. Don't think this is what J, C or R had in mind when they started this site - either the affair itself (but let's face it, shit happens) or, more particularly, the subsequent online debacle.

Maybe the producers at The Jeremy Kyle Show rejected them.

That's my theory, anyway.
