41w3d. 2 sweeps done. Mucous plug gone. Had the 'clear out'. Getting occasional BH. Induction booked for Sunday.

Apparently, watching an 'emotionally charged' movie can stimulate labour. So something really sad or funny perhaps. Im planning to watch it whilst sitting on a gym ball twiddling my nipples!!!

So I'm interested to know, what's the most emotionally charged movie you've watched? Anything that really made you cry, or laugh etc. Not sure I want to watch a scary film necessarily but willing to try that later with DP.

Obviously I'm scraping the barrel here but I really have tried everything else!

Emma Thompson is brilliant at realistic crying, so yes, I agree with Love Actually (fast forward the Martine McCutcheon and Keira Knightly bits, obviously) or Remains of the Day.

If you don't mind subtitles, Miracle on Cell No 7. Even DH sobbed at that and he's so not a crier!
Good luck!

Beaches. It makes me cry like a baby.

Somersetgirl1990 · 05/11/2014 13:00

Pearl harbour... And it's about 3 hours long so will fill your time more than normal films!

Mmmporridge · 05/11/2014 13:13

I was watching Gone in 60 Seconds when I went into labour...it didn't quite last 60 seconds but it was fast!

WhispersOfWickedness · 05/11/2014 13:15

LilAnnie - totally agree about Queen Latifah in The Secret Life of Bees, a beautiful beautiful character Smile

QueenofSleep · 05/11/2014 13:20

Agree with Truly Madly Deeply! Though if you want to get your oxytocin going perhaps you'd be better going with something a bit more raunchy - just put the Mr Darcy-in-wet-shirt clip on loop, or whatever gets you going Wink.

Chloris33 · 05/11/2014 13:21

The English Patient. Good luck!

angeltreats · 05/11/2014 13:26

Call the Midwife sets me off every time. It's available on Netflix if you have it.

Grave of the Fireflies (Studio Ghibli movie). I am not allowed to watch this as it will upset me too much.

HowardTJMoon · 05/11/2014 13:54

Amelie. You can't get a sweeter, more lovely film.

For massive emotional impact there's always Never Let Me Go. It left me in pieces.

Sonotkylie · 05/11/2014 14:02

Little Miss Sunshine did it for me. Very very funny. But might make you doubt the wisdom of having children ... Too late for that from where you are though

DecaffTastesWeird · 05/11/2014 14:09

I cried loads at Up and also Iris.

leanne963 · 05/11/2014 14:16

If you have a dog or love dogs you have to watch Hatchi. I watched this film at about 6 weeks pregnant and i have never cried so hard in my life. Actual sobs. My boyfriend thought it was hilarious watching me get so upset, partly due to the fact if he didn't laugh he would also have been crying!

LouiseBrooks · 05/11/2014 14:17

Rabbit Proof Fence. Made me sob all the way through it - twice.

papooshka · 05/11/2014 14:18

Philomena….I sobbed and sobbed...

Peregrin · 05/11/2014 14:19

Another vote for Up!

Babbit · 05/11/2014 14:20

The Champ. I'm sobbing just thinking of it.

Babbit · 05/11/2014 14:21

Kramer v Kramer.

Moralityissue · 05/11/2014 14:23

AI - with Haley Joel Osborne - I watched when pregnant with DC2 and cried so much I was bordering on hysterical Hmm

Nessalina · 05/11/2014 14:28

I've been doing this too! 40+1 today.

Although on my hypnotherapy book recommendations, with oxytocin being the lurve hormone I've only been watching movies with happy endings - no full on weepies!

Already watched:
While You Were Sleeping (laughed more than cried, but v.g)
Sense & Sensibility (brief sob at end!)
Toy Story 3 (wept buckets)
Father of the Bride 2 (babies! Cried)

Ready to go by the DVD player:
Enchanted
He's Just Not That Into You
10 Things I Hate About You
Legally Blonde
High Fidelity
Juno

Stripylikeatiger · 05/11/2014 14:29

The bit in dumbo where the mummy sings baby of mine, I'm crying just thinking about it.

Up, it's actually heartbreaking.

ineedsomeinspiration · 05/11/2014 16:58

I went into labour whilst watching spider man.

Pippidoeswhatshewants · 05/11/2014 17:07

The beginning of Up
Beaches
My girl
The colour purple
Saving Mr Banks made me cry recently.
Marley & me? Not really, but I have never had a dog.

BilboTheAlmighty · 05/11/2014 17:37

Oh yes. Love Story. And if you need some more, get the music off iTunes. I cry like a baby everytime.

Letthemtalk · 05/11/2014 17:38

Sophie's choice.
