Tell me the most emotionally charged movie you've ever seen (to stimulate Oytocin!)??

41w3d. 2 sweeps done. Mucous plug gone. Had the 'clear out'. Getting occasional BH. Induction booked for Sunday.

Apparently, watching an 'emotionally charged' movie can stimulate labour. So something really sad or funny perhaps. Im planning to watch it whilst sitting on a gym ball twiddling my nipples!!!

So I'm interested to know, what's the most emotionally charged movie you've watched? Anything that really made you cry, or laugh etc. Not sure I want to watch a scary film necessarily but willing to try that later with DP.

Obviously I'm scraping the barrel here but I really have tried everything else!

Oh and Watership Down. But I love rabbits so it may have a stronger impact!

Pyjamaface · 05/11/2014 17:40

Pans Labyrinth.

I watched it when I was pregnant and sobbed, properly sobbed, for about 20 minutes afterwards. DP banned me from watching it again because I was sad about it for 2 days Blush

The Time Travellers Wife?

I second Philadelphia too. I'm 41+3 and in a similar position... I've tried comedy, like the wolf of wall st too.

Think I might try three men and a baby tonight. Love that film.

Toy Story 3

weebairn · 05/11/2014 19:20

I watched Y Tu Mama Tambien the day before I went into labour - hot 17 year old mexican lads going on a road trip with an older girl - v sexy Grin

Dogsmom · 05/11/2014 19:45

Haachi - it's a true story and had both dh & I sobbing, still fills me up when I think about it.

September60b · 05/11/2014 19:48

Another vote for Marley and Me and Toy Story 3. Uncontrollable sobs. I could cry just thinking about them.

goodasitgets · 05/11/2014 20:01

If you're a animal/dog person, eight below (has paul walker in) made me sob for hours Blush

AngelinaCongleton · 05/11/2014 20:05

My sisters keeper. Had to leave the cinema near end of pregnancy 5 minutes into the film as was crying so hard I couldn't breathe.

Ai had a similar effect.

AngelinaCongleton · 05/11/2014 20:06

Oh god yeah and pans labyrinth

atoughyear · 05/11/2014 20:11

Life Is Beautiful.

Chandon · 05/11/2014 20:12

The hours

I watched it just before having DS!

One of the best films ever, intelligent and sensitive and will break your heart many times ( that boy.... Sad)

Really beautiful movie.

MollyBdenum · 05/11/2014 20:13

Do NOT watch Pan's Labyrinth just before your baby is due. Seriously.

Chandon · 05/11/2014 20:14

Weebairn, y tu mama tambien is very good.

I watched it when we lived in Mexico. It depicts the country well.

It is also very beautiful and sad in the end, after the raunchy stuff.

sianilovesbeingamummy · 05/11/2014 21:03

Merley and Me!!!!

Ainat266 · 05/11/2014 22:16

The ones I would suggest have already been mentioned I think...

Marley and Me
The Notebook
My Girl
The Boy in Striped Pajamas

Oh, I have a film called 'After Thomas'. It's based on a true story (book is called A Friend Called Henry) about a mothers struggle with her sons autism and also involves a dog - don't want to give too much away to anyone who hasn't read/seen it.

My Sisters Keeper made me cry, but I read the book before I saw the film. The book made me cry more than the film did. The two have different endings. The ending of the book had more of an impact on me.

Stepmom makes me cry.

The last episode of Friends made me well up earlier. Again. I've only seen it about a hundred times!

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 05/11/2014 22:20

I went in to labour while watching Jewel of the Nile Confused . Never got to see the end.

I'm not necessarily saying it was emotionally charged and will help you in anyway, but I just id put that out there!

Allegrogirl · 05/11/2014 22:32

Wall-E always makes me cry. Up should be banned. My hard hearted children just don't get it.

I watched Lost Boys when I thought I was going into labour with DD2. Still pregnant a week later Hmm. Still, lots of pretty vampire boys and 80s music.

OneSkinnyChip · 05/11/2014 22:36

Marley and Me. I watched it when I was pregnant and DH came home and thought someone in RL had died I was in such a state Blush You would have to be made of stone not to weep blood at this film!

LaundryFairy · 05/11/2014 22:38

Up - the first 10 minutes make me sob, and then I laugh through the rest.

Pasithea · 05/11/2014 22:42

Nights in rodanthe
End of the affair
Brief encounter
Bambi

SleepyMcgee · 05/11/2014 22:43

Another for the notebook
I think you might be well on your way before sunday though if you've had 'the clearout'. Fingers crossed

chloecorey · 05/11/2014 22:45

My sisters keeper makes me bawlllll my eyes out!

LoveCharlie · 06/11/2014 05:47

Another vote for Marley & me. Anything that involves dogs gets me though (especially labs as I've got one too) - I was sobbing like a fool at Downton on Sunday!

Bellyrub1980 · 06/11/2014 06:01

Thank you for all the suggestions!!

I watched Marley and Me in the morning and OMG it was lovely, and so sad. Brought back so many memories happy and sad of my lovely dog when I was growing up.

After the film I went a bit mental and cleaned the house from top to bottom, walked to the supermarket and baked a cake.

Had BH all day which died off when I went to bed. Then woke in the night with pain (back, tummy, period type pain) and it's still there now but definitely not coming in waves. Probably just over did the cleabing yesterday.

I wonder whether another emotional film will tip me over the edge today! All this stop/start is it labour/over analysis of every twinge is driving me and my DP crazy.

3 days till induction!!!!
