I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!prescribinginfosub

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Thanks Ladies. I know it's common but I wasn't prepared for the amount of tissue that I would lose. It is resolving on the scan (hence why I had brown discharge - old blood). It's just horrible having all of this stuff coming out of me and wondering how safe the baby is in there.

elizabethsmum · 27/09/2014 10:28

how is everyone this morning? hope you have managed a bit of sleep getthered?
noroom sorry realised I may have sounded a bit flippant- meant to be reassuring! good that it appears to be resolving- hoping it will all settle for you soon. have you got another scan booked before 12 weeks? ironic that this is the one hg can be reassuring xx

LucindaE · 27/09/2014 10:36

Oh goodness, i so agree with others, it is like a warzone on here this weekend.
ToAvoid That must be very unnerving. I'd never heard of that but I'm so glad it's resololving, it must be so nerve wracking. On top of Hyperemesis, too!
*GetTheRedOut Like others, I'm glad you've been admitted. Try and rest as much as you can. If DP reads some of the information on the links, PSS, etc, he'll find it easier to deal with and to explain to his DD. As those fluids go in you will feel a lot better.
DurhamRed and basgetti Oh dear. How are you both this morning? Numbers of people say that the Ondansetron makes them more nauseated but stops vomiting and so helps keep out of hospital. It's awful, a balancing act. How are ketones today?
Elletorrito Did you get an appointment?
Cyber hugs or gente pats on offer.
Waves to elizabethsmum.
Apologies if I've rudely overlooked anyone, cross posted...
xx

NoRoom and ToAvoid Sorry, stupid Mother Hen mixed up names, that message was meant for NoRoom. How is the sickness, the anxiety must have made it worse, poor you? ToAvoid Hugs.
Everyone as below. Hope everyone feeling a t-i-n-y bit better this morning?

NoRoomForALittleOne · 27/09/2014 11:06

Sickness is worse today but DH had to go away for the weekend so I'm looking after the 4DCs by myself when all I really want to do is go to bed. That never helps the sickness.

NoRoomForALittleOne · 27/09/2014 11:08

And Elizabethsmum you were reassuring, it was just a shock and worrying. I'm cautiously optimistic. I am scared about getting too attached in case it all goes wrong.

LucindaE · 27/09/2014 11:51

NoRoom My goodness, four - that'd exhaust me in good health! can anyone nearby help out to you can get a rest? If not, my goodness, rely on 'electronic entertainment'.
GetTheRedOut DurhamRed basgetti and all those suffering, I hope not quite so bad today?
xx

DurhamRed · 27/09/2014 13:18

Morning all. Definitely not a good day so far for me. The nausea and vomiting seems to have ramped up a notch today. Just seem to be constantly vomiting with no respite with the nausea. Attempted breakfast but that has come back up, tried fluids but they are just coming back up too. Looks like a day of ice cubes and beds rest :-(

LucindaE · 27/09/2014 18:11

Durham Oh no, that is foul. Ice cubes the best. Are ice lollies any good by way of variety?

noroom gosh 4dc's definitely a day for ipads/ electronic entertainment! have you had hg each time?- I take my hat off to you!

durham hope you have managed some rest?

how is everyone else doing today?

Oklahoma · 27/09/2014 18:32

Oh my this thread is falling apart! Lots of gentle encouragement and sympathy to everyone.

Not much I can say other than hang on in there. It will get better...

DurhamRed · 27/09/2014 19:34

I've managed to keep a little bit of food and some fluids down this evening but my stomach is just constantly bubbling away. The nausea is relentless regardless of meds...I feel terrible. At least if I can keep little bits of food and fluid down I can avoid hospital. I have absolutely no life at the moment I am just existing, and miserably. Sad

Meerka · 27/09/2014 20:23

So sorry everyone is suffering so badly.

The minutes do tick by and become hours, which become half-days which become days which pass ... each day is one closer to the end.

Thinking of you all

mrsnec · 27/09/2014 20:39

Hi all, haven't been able to catch up properly but I thought id let you know that Melissa Eve was born by emcs yesterday. I'm feeling ok all things considered. Thinking of you all I will be back to catch up soon and thanks again for your support.

ToAvoidConversation · 27/09/2014 21:11

MrsNec huge congrats!!!!

DurhamRed · 27/09/2014 21:22

Congratulations MrsNec SmileFlowers

Elletorrito · 27/09/2014 21:33

Congrats mrsnec hope you are doing ok. Lovely name.

Lucinda doc reckons it's the anaemia but doing some tests. I have a lot of follow up appointments next week so we shall see. I was tipped off to stress that I was concerned about the risks of looking after dd when not really capable and that this would get the gp prioritising sorting me out due to safeguarding concerns. I reckon there has been a marked difference in attitude by the gp this time so Maybe it worked...

Been naughty this last couple of days and not taken any and it's lovely not to feel nauseous. The pay off is that I increase the risk of fainting again. But childcare is back in place for next week at least.

What Meerka said is true time passes and you find you make it through incrementally...

basgetti · 27/09/2014 23:42

Congratulations Mrsnec, lovely news x

I've had another rubbish day, thought I'd managed to keep my dinner down at least but just spent last half hour being really sick. My ribs are so painful it feels like they've cracked. My tongue feels like its burning. Head is pounding. My ketones were +2 this morning, I don't even know what they are now. Just lying in bed, no energy to do anything.

Sorry for everyone else who is struggling at the moment too x

Oklahoma · 28/09/2014 08:32

Congratulations ladies, you all survived the night. That is one more day down and one day closer to freedom!!

livingzuid · 28/09/2014 09:27

Hello ladies, sorry I have been away for a while but I got rather caught up in the referendum debates and also had continuing problems with my thyroid after pregnancy. But so far so good on the NHS and things seem to be getting a bit better :) My baby is 4 months old on Tuesday I can't believe it!

Anyway, I am sure I have missed some people's baby arrivals in these intervening weeks so congratulations and well done for reaching the finish line! I know several people were reaching the end as well very soon. mrsnec big congratulations!

The evils of HG haven't receded but I am already contemplating when I can persuade DH to start for another. I was reading again about poor Kate this morning, then came across this HG article on the Huffington Post (sorry if it has already been linked). If I do get pregnant again I think I will just show it to people offering me ginger rather than try and explain it myself. It made me cry. Thinking of all you brave women carrying your little ones.

livingzuid · 28/09/2014 09:30

And by CS! I remember our discussions on the whole labour thing. I hope they did not put you through too much (Netherlands flashbacks) before getting you in for an emcs.

LucindaE · 28/09/2014 10:02

mrsnec Ah, wonderful news ThanksGrinThanks. At last! I always think of the birth as 'reaching the Pink Caslte' because it makes me think of a pink castle in the clouds which was depicted at the end of an old Snakes and Ladders Board we had when I was a child...
Livingzuid Thanks so much for coming back on to encourage others.
Sorry for all those suffering so horribly. As others say, at least you are one day closer that longed for arrival at the 'Pink Castle'.
elletorrito I had anemia from blood loss and other things I won't be tactless enough to go into now after the birth, and couldn't take those iron pills any more than I could before birth without vomiting. Never actually fainted somehow, so you must have it badly, oh dear, and as you say, the gp should be concerned about the carer issues.
GetTheRedOut Are you out yet?
Back soon.
xx
