Can I join you ladies?

I'm 31, had a mc at 6-8 weeks pregnant (I have silly cycles so hard to date) at the end of August. Got to CD 35 of the WTF cycle yesterday and got a BFP. Couldn't believe it at first and still feel odd about it. Would love to just feel happy and excited but I can't unknow what I went through with the MC. The "today I am pregnant mantra is helping". Thought joining this thread might help - lovely to see ladies and different stages navigating this journey.

Waves to lurker, tori & stop nice to see some familiar names when I flicked through (will read through properly later).

Stop I think we've been at very similar stages for the past few months! Weird timings indeed!

amicablemoomin · 01/10/2014 15:16

hi guys, re movement, I didn't feel anything until about 23 weeks (antior placenta) and like Liseal it just went from nothing to kicks - one day nothing, the next kicking! I found the period in between preg symptoms going and kicking very difficult though - not enough bump to look really preggers and constant worry that you've just made the whole thing up. The 20 week scan helped though for me and carried me though another week or so but I was very frustrated and anxious.

Welcome Phryn and congrats on your BFP! I think most of us on here would agree that pregnancy after MC is a totally different ball game than for those who have not experienced loss. Definitely use this thread, it has kept me sane. No moan, question or rant is not allowed, and there are a lot of different experiences on here, with a lot of positive outcomes. the reassurance is great. Take each day at a time, and we are all here for you.

Hi all, just a mememe quickie to say c-section went well today and Serena Lorelai was born at 12:15 weighing 7lb3. I must say even today I wasn't convinced I'd get a baby at the end of the journey and I was crying with delight when she came out crying herself. I now feel very lucky to be her mum. Hope you're all well x

CorporeSarnie · 01/10/2014 22:00

Congrats hamster, lovely news. Hope your recovery is smooth and that you all get off to the best of starts in your new life together. Thanks
Welcome to new arrivals, this is a great supportive place and I hope you will find comfort from all of our stories.
Off to see Obs cons in the morning, at some point I need to try and make up my mind wrt ELCS vs. VBAC, but I remain undecided atm. Having mahoosive BH at the moment just thinking about it... hopefully not the precursor to anyhing more serious (would like to make it to term this time).

Babytinx11 · 01/10/2014 23:18

Congrats hopeful beautiful name hope your both doing well :)

Hi to everyone else just a quick hi from me 18+2 not much to report mostly coz silly painkillers stop me doing much lol just over 20 weeks now till the big 20 week scan which will be at 20+4 at the moment when I am going from extremely excited to absolutely terrified but the closer it gets the more terror takes over from excitement Confused

longestlurkerever · 02/10/2014 05:11

Congratulations hamster. Really lovely news.

Snooky17 · 02/10/2014 07:06

Congratulation Hamster
Have my early scan today at 7 weeks at EPU, sad to think that even if I see a heartbeat that I Wong stop worrying, I am planning on paying to be scanned every week , Place near me has offered me £40 each scan, and received some money for my upcoming big 40 so am gonna spend that but am curious wether anyone else has done this or anyone thinks it's a bad idea.
Also hello to my fellow newbies

Hi All
GD checking is going ok. The first few meals went by and blood sugar was fine... I was thinking that maybe they had it wrong and I didn't have it... and then before dinner I had a massive drop as I forgot my mid afternoon snack, so came crashing back to earth with a bump.
Had to break the news to work, that I will be out every Tuesday morning...that went well! They have been supportive and I am only working 1/2 days at the moment, until the end of next week.

My replacement has been sourced and I know she is going to be rubbish! But there is nothing else I can do about that!

Tori - With the Doppler, even 2 midwives couldn't find the HB at 16 weeks and I had to have a reassurance scan, unless you know you are not going to freak out, I wouldn't even try!!! 16 week gender scan is good, but I ended up waiting, it was a long wait, but meant when I got there, that I was halfway!!

My friend paid for me to have a 4d scan for my birthday, and to be honest, it was rubbish, Baby played hide and seek, and you couldn't see anything at all!

Spooky - I have suffered with Anxiety all throughout my pregnancy, and thought that weekly scans would help. I had quite a few (NHS due to my anxiety) and found myself in more of a panic in the lead up to the scan, in the end, it was nice to wait and be shocked to see how much Baby had grown. I have a growth Scan tomorrow, and the last time we saw him was 23 weeks (28 now) so I am excited to see how he has grown! :)

Hope everyone is well - and well done and congrats hamster!! :)

amicablemoomin · 02/10/2014 10:14

hamster, what lovely news - and what a beautiful name you have chosen. Enjoy your newborn snuggles and hugs and let us know how you get on.

Spooky - like liesal says I found scans very helpful in managing my anxiety, but for me there was also a huge build up of anxiety before each scan and a lot of emotion, ending with a flood of relief afterwards.....you know yourself and what will work for you - for me I had a scan about every three weeks and that was ok - if I could have afforded it I might have gone slightly less.

Liesal - hope all goes well and you get a lovely view of your bean. We are on the homeward stretch now.....

Corpore - hope meeting goes well and you come out with a plan that you feel comfortable with. Let us know how it goes....

liesal79 · 02/10/2014 11:52

Moomin - Not long for both of us now, only I am going to be induced :( so I might beat you! Hope all is well with you! x

CorporeSarnie · 02/10/2014 12:06

Well I wasn't expecting what I've agreed to :). I think I am going for a VBAC; the decision is complicated by the leaving DD thing - we have some family local, and some an hour's drive away, but I am v conscious that DD will be at a total loss whilst I'm away, never having had more than a night away from me.
On paper an ELCS sounds good as it can be planned, DD can come in during visiting on ward, etc. But inevitably would mean 2 nights in hospital, which last time was not great (the 3am noise of phone calls, a very pungent fellow mum, long waits to see HCPs, trying to get bfing with constant noise and interruption), whereas excepting the (multiple) uncertainties, I could be out the same day with VBAC. Going to return at 40w for cons visit, so may change my mind then, but for now will aim for VBAC and not think about it too hard. For now, let the perineal massage commence :)
Sorry that was very mememe. Hope those experiencing uncertainty and worry are doing as well as possible - today we are pregnant.

Cuppachaplz · 02/10/2014 13:22

hopeful huge congrats to you both xx

snooki private scans great for reassurance! and if it's what you need go for it, but bear in mind you may still be stressed out by thus. I wound up having scans at least fortnightly for various reasons! and it gas felt intrusive! with me stressing at the slightest minuscule drop in dates. Maybe that's just me looking fir reasons to panic though.

tori just echoing liesal, home Doppler kits recommended for 24 was onwards, with mws struggling to find HB up to 22w. That said, I must confess to having used my stethoscope even when I knew it was far too early!

liesal hope gd monitoring continues well and you are feeling better soon x

Am sat waiting for follow up appt in foetal medicine. Scan and appointment went well. Cyst almost gone, so need for MRI at this time. The perusal it's said they will continue to scan very 2-4 weeks, scan baby's brain via Fontainebleau when born, and if any concerns do MRI on baby. But they see no reason to worry or do anything more at thus time :))
Also, no soft markers for DS seen still, and baby now, having been small at every other scan, is on 70th centile...
Fluid levels fine after accident.
Had my final clexane script before stopping, so the end draws ever closer.
Keen for VBAC, so they will start sweeps at 37 weeks...
All in all surprisingly positive day :D

Cuppachaplz · 02/10/2014 13:24

Ummmm.
Perusal = specialist neurologist.
And Fontainebleau = fontanelle
WTF!

Thanks for the welcome ladies

Hamster lovely news and lovely name. Hope this is a lovely and special time for you and your newly extended family.

From reading the thread I've realised I have lots of new abbreviations to learn although maybe not as many as cuppa's phone tried to use (loved fontanelle as Fontainebleau!)

Sorry to hear you're having a wobble Tori. Arranging the visit the GP is a good idea if the woozy periods continue, and you may well find that the law of sod means that they settle down when you do that. Can you do something nice and nurturing for yourself today, whether it's having a chat with a friend, a nice bath, a treat food? Something that will help you relax and although that won't magically make the worries dissapear but it can help you feel more able to ride them out Flowers

LondonJen · 02/10/2014 14:02

Hopefulhamster just came by to see if you'd posted any news. Huge congratulations!

Sending positivite vibes for everyone else here x

CorporeSarnie · 02/10/2014 14:33

Sorry phryn for prolific use of acronyms - VBAC = vaginal birth after C-section, ELCS= elective (planned) section.
tori, hope you are feeling better now. If you're not feeling right in yourself, go see your GP - a problem shared and all that.

Congratulations hamster that's a lovely name!

I feel like a bit of a stalker still reading up on here every day, just seems so strange leaving, especially as there's no graduates thread!

cuppa glad to see your appointment went well

The baby is doing well, he's nearly 3 weeks old already and gaining weight well Smile I'm still struggling with post birth recovery (episiotomy stitches and a horrible time with piles) but very happy.

Hope everyone's ok, sorry to see those having wobbles but nice to see some new names appearing Smile

I meant to do now I have a 3 year old DS and DH has to to work I can't spend days in hospital Sad sorry for the rant I have just had enough today and worried :(
