The new thread for mummy-to-be madness, mushiness and mayhem!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
joeschmoesmum · 19/09/2014 16:59

Oh I'm so glad I found this thread!! Currently 21 weeks after 3mc and alternating between relaxing and freaking out :) I guess some of it is normal. Reading about all the thread babies and ladies like Squizita and hopefulHamster makes me hopeful! (Hang in there ladies, not long now).

longestlurker good luck with this one- I'm up for some hand holding if you need ;)

longestlurkerever · 19/09/2014 17:10

Squiz. With dd I had barely a BH and no show or anything and was convinced she was going to be weeks late but she arrived 4 days late with a fairly textbook birth. Don't worry.

joeschmoesmum · 19/09/2014 17:35

Sorry to hear that liesal- how far along are you? What tests will you be having? Hope it all turns out ok.

squiz I've read in several places that strength and frequency BH do not correlate with birth time, so please donot worry. As for feeling too good at 41 weeks :) v jealous- hope we all make it that far!

HollyBen · 19/09/2014 18:32

squiz I had no BH at all with DD. in fact I had no signs at all that she was ever likely to come out! She arrived at 41+4 after sweep no 2 (I was due to be induced the next day)

Babytinx11 · 19/09/2014 21:17

Can't see its a problem squiz she is probably just comfy where she is Smile have you got a birth/yoga ball?

squizita · 19/09/2014 21:42

Yeah... been bouncing, walking etc'... everything on the list. I don't think it works till baby decides it will work as I've been trying it all for 2 weeks.

Seen a thread on the childbirth board, someone posted similar concern, but their waters just went (41+5 I think!!) and she's contracting so that gives me hope it might just decide to happen. :)

I just get anxious as with the sticky blood the placenta ages faster than other people - but that's why they'll induce me bang on 42 weeks. The risk creeps up then so fx still relatively safe even for me.

HopefulHamster · 19/09/2014 22:50

Squiz I had no BH with my son but then I ended up being induced so probably no good to you. Buuuuutttt loads of people I know went into a nice smooth labour without them.

My friend just had a baby about 10 days over - tried everything, nothing worked, and she was getting really worried about the prospect of induction. But then she got up the next day, waters went, had a lovely labour in a nice birth centre. Could be you tomorrow! Or in half an hour!

I'm having no BH this time around either - almost 38 weeks now - but feels like baby is trying to kick its way out. Will almost be surprised if I get to c-section date! My main concern is what will I do if I go into labour naturally? Demand a c-section or see how far I get without one?

CorporeSarnie · 19/09/2014 23:31

hopeful, what do you want to do? If you have agreement for an elcs and go into labour spontaneously beforehand they will probably offer emcs. At least that is what happened last time with me, although there was a brief, unsuccessful attempt to convince me to attempt vaginal breech delivery as I dilated fast. When is your elcs scheduled for?
squiz, I think BH are just one of those things. I get them strongly from end 2nd tri onwards, worse if stressed or dehydrated, but otherwise just happen. And my last delivery was at 36w and went from show to over 7 cm to elcs in 4h, so on this N=1 no correlation with slow or late labour. Keep doing what you're doing, as long as baby is moving well your placenta is doing great and supplying plenty of nutrients.
Had a hectic day today, was up early to go to a meeting out of town, can't do the crazy intercity trips anymore without feeling it. 34 weeks tmrw! Only 3 weeks and will be at term Smile. Never thought back in Feb/Mar that we'd get here.

Gwlondon · 20/09/2014 00:20

longestlurkerever welcome back! Good luck. Hope this one is sticky.

squiza I don't know about Braxton hicks or lack of them. But the band you describe does sound like one. I think the uterus has muscles in two directions and one direction is circular around the uterus.

Also if you want to do Christmas then you will priorities it and do it! Life does change a lot, but like you said you can't imagine it until you do it.

Good luck everyone. Welcome everyone new!

I have no news. I am 28 weeks. Third trimester. Had a scan and saw doctor everything fine. Have gestational diabetes and finding diet hard. I am far to relaxed at the moment! Need to work on it.

fedupofrainydays · 20/09/2014 07:44

Just checking in. Sorry to hear about the bleeding liesel... Any more? Hope all is ok.

So we have been on special care last few days but hoping today is home day. It's been pretty tough but he's got through treatment and now latching on well and feeding.
Can't believe I've goth baby. Best feeling and hope you ladies get to hold your lovely bundles soon Grin

blankfornames · 20/09/2014 08:45

My gosh, I turn my back for couple of days & there babas are born!! Congrats fedup, one, and alb!

Welcome back here longest! Good to see you back.

All good with me, am 18 wks and having lots of movement which is so reassuring. 24hr knicker watch has been put to the back burner!! Grin

Have a nice weekend everyone!

silverine · 20/09/2014 11:53

ilovechops · 20/09/2014 13:17

Blimey I've missed a lot!! We are moving house this weekend and well it's all been very chaotic the last fortnight!!

Firstly congrats to Alb and fedup brilliant news.

liesel let us know how you are getting on

squiz I went to 41+6 waiting for DD1...was absolute torture I hated it. The very best advice I had was go out for dinner with friends, have a glass of wine (midwife advice) and relax. I had no signs of anything starting at all. I took her advice and contractions started in the restaurant (mildly) and built up over next 24 hrs. I just needed to relax.

All ok here other than worried I am over doing it with moving stuff! Hard not to tho. baby did you get fully stuck in? I'm not lifting really but just so much cleaning and sorting I am shattered.

So I'm 14 wks now, had our scan on Monday, all was perfectly fine, baby looking healthy and well thankfully.

Please can someone update the stats and add me on:

Ilovechops, 1MC,1MMC,1DD, EDD 24/03/15

Hope everyone has a good weekend

silverine · 20/09/2014 13:45

Hi chops, glad all was well at the scan and try not to overdo it with the cleaning, although as long as you're not straining should be no danger. Will give it a few more hours or until tomorrow in case anyone else wants to add themselves.

squizita · 20/09/2014 13:47

Leisal hope everything is OK.

Hi Longets!

blank nice to hear no knicker checking.

Just had my sweep. MW told me my BH sound like painless BH, nothing unusual and actually useful because you don't get "false" labour! Good news ... I am dilating now (just a couple of fingers) and the sweep wasn't horribly painful but she could feel the fluid sac and baby engaged. After there has been goopy slimy blood which I take it a good thing, maybe plug??

Anyway if all else fails Thurs it's induction or cesarean anyway ... light at the end of the tunnel!

longestlurkerever · 20/09/2014 15:30

Exciting squiz! Congratulations fedup. Hope you are home soon. Thanks for the welcome everyone. Don't add me to the stats yet. I am off to Australia for three weeks on tuesday. I have an eight week scan as soon as I get back and that is the big milestone for me as I haven't seen a hb on a scan since dd. Seemsimpossibly far away atm though

Babytinx11 · 20/09/2014 16:03

Exciting stuff squiz :)

ilove yea I got fully stick in lugging boxes around and stuff only thing I didn't do was load or unload the van as I was looking after DS too. Shouldn't have done as much as I did though 1st night I was so swollen and in so much pain I wanted to cry.
silver I'll be 17 weeks Monday and when mw asked me about movement on Thursday she said before I told her I was feeling movement not to worry if I wasn't yet that they only worry if you aren't feeling anything by 24 weeks

amicablemoomin · 20/09/2014 17:13

Hey London - all good here! 27 weeks.....getting there slowly but surely......!!! Started baby buying now and it all feels so real with the baby kicking. Glad to hear you are doing ok and not to long to go.....do keep us posted!

Nerdy Lovely to hear from you - wow, time does fly! Glad to hear all well with you and the little one......

squizita · 20/09/2014 18:47

OK people who are already mums...
just had an odd 'pop' in the tum about 20 minutes ago. Not felt any water trickle out BUT am now getting feelings like a strong period pain combined with a braxton hicks. Not round the back (as they warned me) - low on the belly. Athough also did copious, stinky poos today

Frantically rubbing belly to check bubs is ok... as far as i can tell she is mobile but i can only feel from outside as inside just feels crampy.

Please tell me this isnt wishful thinking?

longestlurkerever · 20/09/2014 19:00

Sounds like you're on your way squiz! For me the pain stayed pretty manageable for quite a while and I only went to hospital based on timing the contractions but I was 3cm dilated by the time I got there

Babytinx11 · 20/09/2014 19:18

squiz sounds like things are starting to happen Grin fingers crossed not long till mini squiz :)

SuzyBean · 20/09/2014 20:07

Good luck Squiz it sounds like something is starting to happen! I'm 10 +3 so I'm going to wait until I've had my scan at 13 weeks to add myself to the stats list.
I've got my booking in appointment on Monday which has been a bit of a bad omen in my last two pregnancies. The first time they recalled me after my blood tests came back and they realised the pregnancy had stopped at 8 wks and last time I had my mc confirmed by the epu in the morning and had to cancel my booking appointment for that afternoon. So I'll be glad when this one is over!

Gwlondon · 20/09/2014 20:08

Hi squitza. I don't know as I was induced but it does seem like something is happening. Good luck.

fedupofrainydays · 20/09/2014 21:21

squiz mine didn't pop bit I know peoples who did! Fx this is it!

CorporeSarnie · 20/09/2014 22:38

Exciting, squiz, fingers crossed for you. Pop a pad on, as waters can trickle out (I had a gush and then trickles with each contraction). I think early contractions feel different for different people, mine were low back at first. Have you called Mau? So exciting Grin.
