Thanx squiz will go and stock up on cough sweets and olbus oil do you think the olbus oil bubble bath is ok?

holly when I booked she said they would try and listen at 16 weeks we'll see I am seeing them at 2.45 really really nervous though :( specially not having had much sleep and not being well isn't helping :(

Alb1 · 18/09/2014 14:07

holly they listened for me at 16 weeks but I have friends in different areas were they don't do it as there's still a chance they won't find it and itl panic you even tho there's nothin wrong.

squiz I'm only a few days in but currently he's pretty easy to look after, it's full of worry and I deff have an easier time than some as he's on bottles now (altho I still feel guilty about that) and that works better for us (was a lot harder when trying to establish bf) and I'm sure itl get harder once there's more too it than feeding, changing and cuddling, but I'm sure you'll be fine, these people must just be making it hard for themselves to a certain extent and for some crazy reason trying to scare you, I feel so greatful to have him nothing seems like hard work at the min altho I'm proly still in the euphoric new baby stage and may well be wrong

CorporeSarnie · 18/09/2014 14:08

squiz, it depends on what sort of baby you get; some clingy babies might be a pain to put down whilst you cook (and a scary experience of attempting fish pie making with a small baby taught me that cooking with them in a sling is risky), but realistically yes if you want to do christmas at yours it will be fine. We usually share christmas with SIL, so will probably go to hers so that we don't have to do it, but it would be feasible at home (and we'd get to choose what to eat, which might be nicer).
I have been lurking but not posting as was away for the weekend and then been busy at work. Can't believe all these babies are finally arriving! Suspect that after squiz goes I'm only 2nd or 3rd on the list now, seems like only a few weeks since I was in early pergnancy.
feel better soon baby, I think Olbas oil bath should be OK (but have never used it). In our trust they do check at 16w, but it can be difficult to find sometimes, so it may be that they are trying to be cautious about how they phrase it. I have heard of some places where they don't use a doppler at this stage because it can cause anxiety if they can't find a hb.

Babytinx11 · 18/09/2014 14:13

squiz think people go a bit ott on dire warnings of you get a clingy baby use a sling Smile there are always ways round things aslong as you are a little bit organised there shouldn't be a problem :)

GandTnow · 18/09/2014 14:33

squiz, I managed to cater for about 30 people after DD's baptism (she was 7 weeks old at the time) without too much hassle. In the end you just do what you can do and lets face it if you have a 3 month old at Christmas that's what everyone will be focusing on, not whether or not you managed to stuff your turkey correctly!!!

I think people sometimes just want to freak you out a bit and make it sounds more tricky than it is.

GandTnow · 18/09/2014 14:33

Also, tiny baby at Christmas - CUTE!

LondonJen · 18/09/2014 14:46

Aw Squiz that's a well cooked bean Smile Good luck with your sweep.

Hey Moomin! How far along are you now? Hope all is well.

cheesecurry86 · 18/09/2014 14:55

Sqiz ,Yeah a very big mile stone as when I first got pg I thought its was some cruel joke and couldn't really accept the fact that I was finally going to be a mum x and although he might be 4 weeks early have my stitch out on 8 oct and he could arrive any time after that xx good luck with the sweep and hope lil bean comes soon xx

Babytinx11 · 18/09/2014 16:30

Just back from my midwife app Grin everything went fab have a very busy bean with a lovely strong heartbeat Smile asked about the headaches and she said if they get worse see the gp and get checked out and if they are still bad when I see her at 24 weeks she is going to send me for tests but bp and stuff are fine so she isn't worried at the moment Smile feeling very relieved nearly cried when I heard beans heartbeat and MW described bean as being really busy :)

cheesecurry86 · 18/09/2014 18:56

Baby ,I suffered terrible with headaches (17 weeks)and ended up in the hospital for a bout a week they ruled out pre eclampsia and said it's just pregnancy headaches x hope its just the same as bad as that sounds x

silverine · 18/09/2014 19:06

Hi all
Had the cardiac scan today, said it was looking notmal for now but will check again at 20 week scan. They didn't measure the nuchal again, but said it was still increased but decreased proportionately to the baby. Still, if chromosomal and cardiac abnormalities are excluded, there is a small chance it could be something genetic or as simple as 'a fat neck'. So not out of the woods yet but 95% there, according to the consultant. FX!
baby glad your chech-up went well. X

SuzyBean · 18/09/2014 19:26

Silverine my friend had a 1 in 3 result due to a large nuchal fold but everything was ok when she had cvs. It turns out the baby did just really have just a fat neck!!

tannyLoo · 18/09/2014 19:43

Silver glad to hear that. I hope things continue to look good at the 20 week scan.

Baby that's lovely news. I know I'll cry when I hear the HB, but my appt is not till next Friday, as I was moved forward a week but appt remained the same.

Squiz, my first was born 6 weeks before Xmas, and it was a bit quieter than other years, but still fine. I remember rushing round town on Xmas eve as the shops were shutting trying to find presents with him in a sling and fast asleep. Is there some reason these people assume that no one else can cook or cuddle a baby but you? I sometimes craved cuddles and crying for milk, as everyone else wanted a go! Hope you get going soon Smile

Holly how was it?

NerdyBird · 18/09/2014 21:17

Hi everyone,
not sure if anyone remenbers me, I had my baby nearly 12 weeks ago now and thought I'd pop back to see how everyone is doing.

Having the baby has been a bit strange, a lot of it I expected, but lots of it I didn't! Still feels weird that I am totally responsible for a whole other person. She is utterly adorable though, which helps!

I remember a facebook group was set up a while a go by previous posters but don't know any of the details of how to join, does anyone else know?

HollyBen · 18/09/2014 21:49

Evening all. MW apt was fine just blood pressure etc and she went through the previous test results. Came away with a load of appointments 22w with GP (they do shared care at my surgery, 1 apt mw, next GP) 28w with mw plus growth scan 34w growth scan -phew! 20 week scan is 3 weeks tomorrow

longestlurkerever · 19/09/2014 10:23

Hello everyone. Can I tentatively join again for a bit of hand holding? I was on this thread back in June but lost that pregnancy, which was my third mc if you count a chemical last year, so I was referred to RMC. Had tests at St Mary's which came back clear and I have just had another positive test. Really early days and I am finding it difficult to imagine there might be a different outcome this time with no different treatment but I have a cheeky dd aged 3 so am trying to stay positive.

Lovely to recognise some names on here and see so many pregnancies progressing well and thread babies that have arrived or are imminent. (Good luck Squiz! I say go for doing your own Christmas. It's better than traveling). Sorry to see it hasn't been the same for everyone.

Babytinx11 · 19/09/2014 14:19

Hi longest hope all goes well for you this time

squizita · 19/09/2014 16:53

Just a quick post ... no news.
Getting paranoid my BH are too weak and my body doesn't know how to start birth. MW on Monday did a bit of a "are you sure" Face when I described them to her. My belly just goes hard like a hard flexed muscle in a wide "band" side to side, my upper torso and down below stay normal.
Oh god. Also haven't had any sharp crotch pain recently so convinced baby is disengaging and moving up! Shock
Is feeling too ok at 41 weeks a problem?

liesal79 · 19/09/2014 16:56

Had a crappy morning. Had spots of red blood on the tissue & was told to come in for tests. No reason for bleed & one very scared me!!! :(
