Pressed post too soon! I told DH not to get too excited as google says it could take weeks between show and labour.

silverine · 14/09/2014 16:42

Hi holly I'm also 16 weeks tomorrow and have appointment on Thursday but for the cardiac scan. Hope your mw manages to give you some solutions for the complaints.
I'm not feeling as bad but still quite tired and definitely nott blooming!..

tannyLoo · 14/09/2014 16:59

Holly and Silver I'll be 16 weeks on Tuesday, not so sick, just a bit queezy when I get over tired, and boy do I get over tired! Bloody knackered but can't sleep any longer at night.

Baby I also get headaches, mostly behind my eyes, but I think its tiredness and stress as well as hormones.

I seem to have a nightmare most nights at the moment about loosing the baby, either really graphic or it just suddenly being gone. Horrible.

silverine · 14/09/2014 18:17

Oh tanny that's awful!! I don't have vivid dreams, but I do wake up in the middle of the night to go loo and can't get back to sleep, but tent to think about work then - annoying! Hmm

Babytinx11 · 14/09/2014 21:23

Same here holly 16 weeks tomorrow and I was hoping I might have got to the blooming stage instead I am just really spotty headachey generally feeling crappy and tired Confused keep telling myself it will be worth it in the end

MrsGiraffe12 · 14/09/2014 22:30

onetoddler were not too bad thank you. I'm still sore from the tear but getting there.

Breastfeeding has been hairy, fed her for 5 days, then stopped as she mashed my nipples. Now want to start feeding her again but having only breastfed / expressed 5 times in the last 8 days I don't know how sucessful this will be and it's making me teary.

Hormones are to blame I'm sure x

squizita · 14/09/2014 22:42

MrsG Hope you get feeding sorted one way or the other, the main thing is baby is fed and mum is healthy. It is wonderful that we live in the developed world so can do this safely in more than 1 way. :)

One Hope the mucus bodes well.

I've had no more plug myself, just waiting. Sweep tomorrow if I am 'favourable' ... we shall see. At least baby isn't huge so even if she bakes longer she won't be more than 7-8lb!

Tanny I had vile nightmares too, think it's hormones. I read on the NCT website it's common.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 14/09/2014 23:09

Very speedy development here. Contractions started at 5pm. It was once every 5-8min which was what I had last time through out. Rang the MLU and they advised having a meal and then pop in to check dilation. (As I had silent labour last time). Got in at 7pm, was talking through contractions and suddenly water went. Then I couldn't stand up anymore. Baby girl born just before 8pm. Friend just arrived to take DD, but since baby was born, DH went home with DD instead. It all happened so fast I wasn't expecting it at all. The MW checked when I was pushing and I was 9cm when the water went.

I'm now resting in the postnatal ward. Will try to get some sleep before little girl wakes.

HopefulHamster · 14/09/2014 23:16

Hi all, congrats to those who need them, hugs to everyone with sad news, good luck to people in labour!

Sorry I haven't been here for a thread or two, I think it fell of my on/watching page.

I am 37 weeks now with elcs booked in for Oct 1st. Sometimes I wibble a bit about whether I've made the right choice, but I think considering everything it is the best option for me.

I still get the panics and need slapping. I've worried whether my low papp-a result will come back to haunt me, whether anything was missed on the anomaly scan, whether my son's excitement about his little sister will be for nothing if the worst happens :(. But I'm also excited and positive! It's a strange place to be. I think all of us here are preconditioned to expecting the worst and I find it, personally, a big obstacle to get over.

However I've only got 2.5 weeks left to worry and with a bit of luck I will get to hold a new baby again. Eeeeek.

Any news from fedup?

HopefulHamster · 14/09/2014 23:16

Congrats onelittle!

tannyLoo · 15/09/2014 00:10

Wowsers Onelittle! Congratulations! That's jolly quick, and I'm so pleased you have your little girl. Rest up and tell us all about her tomorrow xxx

MrsGiraffe12 · 15/09/2014 02:39

onelittle that's amazing news congratulations! So excited for another thread baby :-)

fedupofrainydays · 15/09/2014 07:24

Congratulations OLTT!!

Not much to report here - just very tired as been contracting all night. Just sat on birth ball and it's taken the pain off / also contracting less.

Part of me wants baby in to cook some more. Other part wants the pain to stop and baby in my arms

bythesea82 · 15/09/2014 07:45

onelittle congratulations! Lovely news to see on a Monday morning Smile. Hope you managed to get some rest and are feeling ok this morning.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 15/09/2014 08:05

Morning everyone from the hospital.

mrsg the tear will heal. It's really scary down there. I just showered and it felt massive. I had an episiotomy again but only grazes in other parts, so I could imagine you must have it worse. Just take it a day at a time.

fedup have they given you steroids to stop, or letting you go through labour? If it's the later, try to reserve energy. I know it's easier said than done as I had a 3 day one last time and couldn't sleep at all.

hopeful it's normal to not know if you have made the right choice. I was thinking back and forth about which hospital I should go for. In the end I just stick with my first choice. You must have selected elcs weighing up all the pros and cons.

I still couldn't believe how fast it went. Basically I was talking to the midwife who is trying to fill out a form to admit me. I was standing here, holding on the bed, talking through my not so frequent contractions. (2 in 10, it's normal for me but I was told it's not normal for most in active labour). She was going to take my blood pressure, temperature, monitor baby as I haven't felt movement, etc. Then water went and it all went really intense. She helped me on the bed, got someone else to get the gas and air, and after a few puffs, checked my dilation and asked if I wanted to push. That's when she said it's 9cm and she could see the head. (I thought it is 10cm before you push but she's the MW). I abandoned the gas and air as I just couldn't get the hang of the sucking. I think it helped a bit though as I panicked when the water went. It all happened too fast for me! I could feel the urge to push which was a huge improvement from last time. But I still had fear it would stuck. But in the end it all worked out with a bit of episiotomy help (so yes it's stuck and the MW said it's a bit distressed).

Not sure how the feeding is going. The baby so far is very sleepy.

All he best to squizita, alb and febup on your labours.

HollyBen · 15/09/2014 08:21

Huge congratulations one. Lovely news for a monday morning. xx

Purplefrogshoes · 15/09/2014 08:23

Congrats onelittle

psmith congrats! I remember you for the molar board! I have had some standard tests and they were all fine.

I'm more paranoid than ever today, have been ill all day yesterday with a sickness bug, dd has it too

Hope everyone is doing ok

squizita · 15/09/2014 09:05

Congratulations One!! :) :)

amicablemoomin · 15/09/2014 09:05

wow, just back on the thread after being away....one - CONGRATS! Fantastic news that your little one has arrived - hope you are feeling ok and recovering......

fedup, squiz and alb good luck, hope things move along.

Hope everyone in first tri hell is ok and keeping as sane as is possible.

not much going on here, 26 weeks. MW and HV appointments this week so that will be good.

squizita · 15/09/2014 11:35

Bit cross with bean's position today. So low I struggle to find a comfy position to monitor movement. Got myself all worried earlier. Was literally at the point of driving to the local clinic and she decides to shake her legs around. But her arms and head are all tucked in so I only feel wiggles and kicks now though mw assures me the hands are mobile!
Off for a check and a sweep (if favourable) later ... then yoga. FX bean decides to shift!

GailLondon · 15/09/2014 12:53

Aw congratulations One! you will have to change your name now! glad things went nice and swiftly for you.

No news from me here, (20+4), i'm just checking in regularly to look for baby news from all those rapidly approacing (or already at) their due dates!

squiz good luck with the sweep today. Also, thankyou for being the unwavering voice of reason on this forum, whenever there is a thread about 'can i drink ribena/eat macaroni cheese/other perfectly safe food' I know there will be a lovely sensible reply from you somewhere on the thread!

squizita · 15/09/2014 14:08

Only because I worry enough about random stuff without adding stuff the NHS lets me do! Grin I'd be a blooming recluse if I wasn't sensible.

MW unfortunately found my cervix was "just" starting to thin. No point in a sweep for a few more days, she just prodded it to encourage opening. Oh well, a few more days of walking and bouncing. At least I'm not panicking about a midnight rush to hospital!

missmakesstuff · 15/09/2014 16:15

Congrats one, fab news!

I've got my 12 wks scan in the morning, petrified. Not sleeping very well due to coughing so will probably be awake thinking about it. Had to tell one of my bosses at work today, typical bloke didn't congratulate me or anything! Found out the lady in staffing etc also knows, guess the head must have told her, do feel like too many people know already...but then I also hated last time having to tell people why I was off for a week and was so fed up at work for weeks afterwards. Being a teacher we always planning so far ahead it's really difficult not to say anything when in meetings etc! Fingers crossed nothing has changed since 4 weeks ago and there's still a happy bean in there.

Babytinx11 · 15/09/2014 16:16

Congratulations one Grin FlowersCake

squiz hope all goes/went well with your sweep :)

Last night and today has been interesting here too down the hospital twice once for me for kidney function tests it seems a long 24 weeks of checks on my kidneys has begun :( and then back down with DS who has picked up a nasty bug at school and is really really not well bless him.

squizita · 15/09/2014 16:22

Cannot find any reputable info about how fast the cervix softens.

Just American sites where they describe having internals from 36 weeks and if you're not effaced/dilated by about 37 weeks book yourself for an induction. Not at all how it's done here. Wikipedia suggests a Bishop's score of under 5 means induction with no date for this... so what, a BS of 0 at 25 weeks means induction!?.

Guess I just have to keep walking up stairs.
