MrsG glad to hear you're well and being looked after, you have earned some TLC! Olivia is a lovely name. x

PurplePest · 05/09/2014 11:31

Hello everyone!

I have finally caught up after a couple of weeks away!

Not even sure what to comment on as it's all been absorbed somewhere so will chip in from here on in!

MrsG huge congratulations on the birth of baby Olivia. And so glad you're both well.

mrsg sad to hear about the infection but glad your being taken care of and little Olivia is doing well Smile

Sorry to hear some of you are having joint problems, I had the same problem around 16 weeks onwards aswell and have slept with a pillow between my legs since.

squiz my belly button (which has gone compleatly flat for a while now) has a soft bit in the middle of it, I dunno if it's the same thing, I havnt questioned it tho so just assumed it was normal :-/ so I'm hoping it is!

Still no labour signs here, thought maybe yesterday as I felt all stiff down there during Braxton hicks n felt lots of pressure, but then it all eased off again. Had a headache for going on 16 hours now that feels like what I normally get when I'm due on my period so today I'm hanging my hopes on there being some sort of hormone build up before labour I can dream

Hope everyone else is ok!

Cakebaker35 · 05/09/2014 14:03

Congratulations for mrsg and hope your infection clears up soon.

I've been refered for physio as sciatica and hip pain so bloody awful. I'll try anything now as no amount of pillows or changing sleeping postion is helping so I'm tired and grumpy and struggling to cope with an energetic dd!

Also have obstetrics appt next week to discuss birth options following emcs last time. I've hardly dared to let myself think about birth until now as I never quite believed we'd get this far, but I'd better start thinking fast! I'm terrified of attempting natural labour again, it was so awful and although I have had some counselling since I'm just very unsure I'm brave enough to face it. The only issue for me having an elcs is recovery time with my dd as I can only imagine how hard it would be to look after new baby and toddler and recover! Anyway, I shall go to the meeting with an open mind and certainly won't be pushed into anything.

GandTnow · 05/09/2014 14:29

mrsG what a lovely name! Sorry youre not feeling well, but glad that you're being well looked after.

Thanks everyone for information about circulation and feeling generally crap! Still feeling rubbish and aching all over now.

Cake glad you got some help from physio, will be interested to here how app goes and what was said - I think I'm freaking out about natural birth like you!

Cakebaker35 · 05/09/2014 14:34

gandt promise to report back after the appt on tues, it's such a difficult decision isn't it? My friend just had her 2nd in less than an hour, no stitches, just a bit of gas and air. I'm thrilled for her but do wish I could say 'like that please'! Hope you feel better soon x

squizita · 05/09/2014 14:56

Alb snap! Braxton hicks, shooting pains, feeling odd. Wonder if..? Mind you I have my neck ultrasound tomorrow, would laugh if I had to hobble from outpatients to the labour ward (after. I'd laugh after. At the time more likely I'd swear ).

MrsG sorry to hear you have an infection but glad to hear the hospital is good and Olivia is feeding well! :)

SeaSaltMill · 05/09/2014 15:30

I haven't been in much but just popping by to shout 'hurrah!' another milestone. Had my 16 week appointment with the consultant's team today and got to hear baby's heartbeat! It was amazing. I was overwhelmed and cried!

They've recommended I go back on the cyclogest until 24 weeks too which is less great. Off to buy pantyliners and prune juice after work!!! haha

PurplePest · 05/09/2014 15:54

Cake defo want to hear what they say on Tuesday!

squiz and Alb home stretch!

SeaSalt well done! And so lovely that you heard bubba's heartbeat!

I am so pleased it's the weekend! Smile

Can I have a little bit of reassurance? I'm 10+6 and not felt sick or been sick today. I had a mmc at 10 weeks before and I'm petrified it's happening again. 11 days until my scan.

squizita · 05/09/2014 20:36

little my sickness cleared about 10 weeks, it's a common time for that to happen!

MASSIVE FISH SLAP NEEDED ...Wandered over to childbirth forum. There's a thread there where people are discussing colposcopy and cervical fosseting around ... Apparently if you've had a biopsy, laze or colposcopy your cervix doesn't open properly due to scarring! Shock Now I had a small biopsy and colposcopy 3 years ago (no hpv just a bleeding issue) and of course no one told me it would raise issues in pregnancy ... Neither has any mw asked or mentioned it (you'd think they would). Considering the hammering cervixes get during birth, I can't think a bit of a camera and some dye would make everyone's sealed shut! Plus it can't be a rare procedure so surely they would ask!?!
Freaking out now my cervix just won't open!!!!

OneLittleToddleTerror · 05/09/2014 21:28

squizita you got to stay away from that forum. When are you seeing a MW or your consultant again? Can you ask them next time?

DH spent the evening looking at statistics on babies birth on different gestational dates. (He works for a university so has access to academic databases like pubmed). I was surprised to see on one paper that only 4% of spontaneous birth happened in 37 weeks, and just under 10% in 38. I thought it would be about equal numbers through out the 38-42 period. Basically it's a Gaussian like distribution around 40 weeks and about 70% falls within 39 to 41 weeks. What it means is I'm most likely to have to feel big for at least another week! (39 weeks next Thursday). Oh well. Now I know I'm naive to think this one would be 37 weeks given how uncommon it is.

squizita · 05/09/2014 21:35

One Yeah my mw seemed to have similar stats!
Just looked at my hoarded leaflets, the risk after cervical treatment is small, "some women" not all and they only mention treatments you have with anesthetic and surgery not a bit of iodine and a pinhead biopsy. Phew.

squizita · 05/09/2014 21:36

...and apparently you can tell early as there's bleeding and pain, so I seem to have dodged that.

GandTnow · 05/09/2014 22:27

Squizita Step away from the forum - now! There are always going to be things that freak us all out. Walk away! xx

fedupofrainydays · 05/09/2014 22:28

squiz really???? I had a colposcopy and biopsy in October!! (I had hpv which freaked me out) thing is. It's so common, I know so many people who have had some dodgy cells and lots of them have had babies - one just the other day! Her cervix definitely opened!

fedupofrainydays · 05/09/2014 22:34

Oh god, now I've been googling hpv and pregnancy - uncommon for baby to get it but they can!! Oh no. What if my baby gets it? And some times warts can block the passage!
I had kind of forgotten about the hpv until now... Didn't have any warts, just came up on routine smear, and after accusing DH of having an affair I was told even nuns could get it.

squizita · 05/09/2014 23:09

Fedup someone thankfully replied pointing out the things that cause scars are full on operations and lazer treatments under general. Not the iodine/snip biopsy thing you have in 10 minutes! :) Phew.
They do actually warn you to tell your mw if you had such a serious one. So if no one mentions it and it was just the iodine and camera thing, you're OK.

fedupofrainydays · 06/09/2014 06:37

Yeah it wasn't major. But it's the hpv thing that's got me worried now!

blankfornames · 06/09/2014 07:46

Morning ladies, apologies for being MIA for past week. Back to work and b*tch of a drive after the holidays & am wrecked!
Congrats MrsG, hope you and Olivia are doing really well!
Squiz, I had cells removed a few years ago & was worried..spoke to Dr. and was told that ' everyone has one, and won't make a difference to pregnancy'. Don't worry, you'll be fine!

I had my 16wk checkup yday & got to briefly hear Bean's heartbeat! Magical! When I say briefly, Bean was extremely active & was bouncing around! I think I've felt a couple of flutters this week. I described feelings to my midwife neighbour & she confirmed then for me! Very happy! Roll on the frequent kicks!

Best of luck Squiz & Alb!

squizita · 06/09/2014 11:07

Grr had strong period like cramps in the night. Got a bit excited. They went away. Evidently just Braxton hicks of some kind.
Lost sleep for nothing!
And today I have my neck ultrasound - no doubt lots of waiting around, foot in mouth hcp who worry you before realising the consultant has briefed you etc.

Alb1 · 06/09/2014 12:27

Lovely news on hearing the hb blank

squiz hope your neck scan goes quickly and smoothly today. Shame about the sleep loss! It's frustrating when the pain stops isn't it.

I'm feeling quite misrable, 41 weeks today and trying to resign myself to the fact I'm gona have to be induced, I'm not really sure why I'm so misrable but for some reason I can't shake it!

Cuppachaplz · 06/09/2014 12:36

squiz I'm sure MW would have advised you if they were expecting any problems. I had a mass removed from my cervix years ago! and was told it might make coil insertion difficult due to scarring. I asked MW and consultant up this would affect my chances of a VBAC and they laughed outright at me and pointed out that they are expecting the cervix to dilate 10cm, therefore scar tissue occupying a square mm is unlikely to cause any problems. Also scars do stretch, presumably my c section scar is somewhat larger right now! Best wishes, and hoping that your BH twinges last night are the start of things to come.

Congrats again mrsg, beautiful names :) x

seasalt and blank fab to hear a HB! roll on the next milestone.

Finally spoke to MW yesterday, who was very reassuring. She has referred me for physio for carpal tunnel in hands and feet.

squizita · 06/09/2014 12:54

FX for you Alb. My DM went into spontaneous labour the night before she was to be induced... she reckons sometimes the body "knows"! Hope it happens for you! :)

HollyBen · 06/09/2014 13:37

Hang in there alb and squiz. You will have those bundles of joy soon! DD arrived the day before I was due to be induced after sweep no2 and dtd
