Grin

12 week scan was good today - man did I breathe a sigh of relief when I could see the heartbeat! Hopefully that is my main mental hurdle over now (well, maybe...). All looking good - baby was even having a bit of a wiggle and trying to hide from the scanner Grin

I also love the phlebotomist who took my bloods - I told her I have crap veins and would she consider using a butterfly needle - I really don't mind having blood taken but hate being jabbed many times over because people like to "have a try". I think she took this as some sort of personal challenge, and said she would use the most appropriate needle for the job, and butterfly would probably be too slow (she was doing all my booking bloods and my screening bloods, so lots!). She got 5 vials' worth out in less than a minute! I was so impressed. Hope I get her again.

20 week scan now booked, and my extra 22 week doppler scan to check placental blood flow. Next consultant appointment is mid December, when we will see whether I am still considered high risk or not. Feel like the rest of the year is mapped out for me now!

Hope the move went ok today Baby

Wonder how mrsg is getting on. Thinking of you!

Hi monkey welcome. We are all nutty here and completely empathise with how you feel. Hopefully that is some comfort as after mc it's somehow impossible to not be a paranoid wreck. But agree distraction is good, as is staying away from dr google - rant here instead. Symptoms vary with every pregnancy and come and go as well - just to freak us out. But hope next scans are more positive for you.

silver I hope you are ok. Waiting for the results must be hellish. Not much longer wait now though.

Knackered here. Mw check tomorrow - I'm hoping they can tell me position as sometimes I think baby might be breech. Also want to hear HB again as even though I feel movement, it's still nice to hear a healthy HB too.

fedupofrainydays · 01/09/2014 22:28

Hurrah tea&hobnobs - fab scan news!
I'm squeamish so have to lie down for blood tests etc. the worst thing ever was the ENORMOUS cannula they put in my hand when I was admitted to hospital with expected ectopic. Huge huge needle. I had one with birth of ds too but was clearly so involved with contractions I didn't even notice them put it in!!

OneLittleToddleTerror · 02/09/2014 01:29

tea congrats on the great scan news too.

I think I'm getting early labour signs here. I had loose stool all day (most unpleasant). And a couple of hours ago, I'm starting to get quite regular contractions. I don't get much pain with contractions last time so I was unaware till my water went. But this time I'm much more clued up. Basically my heart went racing and if I put my hand on my tummy I can feel it's tightening. It's keeping me up when all I want is to sleep to reserve energy for when the pain starts to arrive! The palpitations is keeping me up Angry maybe I should measure my heart rate instead! Not sure how long this is going to go on for. mrsg had it for 3-4 days isn't it? I got up and had some weetabix too in case I couldn't stomach food later.

Hopefully I will fall asleep now and next time I'm checking MN I will hear more good news from others.

Alb1 · 02/09/2014 01:38

one how exciting for you! Hope things progress quickly and smoothly for you

mrsg hope you and baby giraffe are ok!

Congratulations those with the great scan news Grin

Still no labour pains here despite all my efforts Sad never been so desperate for pain in my life!

OneLittleToddleTerror · 02/09/2014 06:23

The contractions disappeared sometime around 3 and I fell asleep. Now I just absolutely exhausted. DD doesn't go to nursery until 8am. Looking forward to catching up on sleep Sad

Babytinx11 · 02/09/2014 06:47

Haven't been able to read every thing but I really hope your feeling better and things get easier for you soon fedup

Fab scan news tea
Hope your tests go well silver

Hi everyone else hope all is good :)

mrsg hope all went well yesterday and you and baby g are doing well :)

Yesterday was allot of stress very lucky this morning all I have to show for seriously over doing it is an almost half unpacked house and swollen hands and feet. Can just about move this morning and I thought I'd never move again last night lol it will be worth it when we finished today we go shopping for the furniture that having no where to put anything finally persuaded DH we need lol so it should be easier today :) baby wise no much to report 14+1 and I think all is good and I am starting to feel better less sicky and hopefully when all this is done less tired lol

amicablemoomin · 02/09/2014 07:02

Hope you have a quiet day today baby? Sounds exhausting but like you made a lot of progress.

Great news on the scan tea - such a huge weight of relief.

one hope you manage to catch up on some sleep - I think you are right, mrsg had it on and off for a good few days, maybe even 4-5?

AFM, also up half the night but this time with insect bites rather than baby kicks! I put calomine lotion on to soothe the itching but I normally take an anti histamine (am a bit prone to insects biting me). Does anyone know if there is anything else I'm able to put on/take that is safe? the calomine works but only for small bursts of time.

fedupofrainydays · 02/09/2014 07:03

Glad house move was ok baby. We are hoping to be back in ours on Monday. Fx. Will need to do some serious cleaning post builders!

one hope you are ok. Try get some more rest when dd goes to nursery. You never know... Things could start again today.

Thinking of you and baby g mrsg

fedupofrainydays · 02/09/2014 07:04

Does witch hazel work moomin? Or does that just sting?

OneLittleToddleTerror · 02/09/2014 08:51

baby I'm impressed. Half unpacked already?

amicable I had to take antihistamine last pregnancy. Loratadine and cetirizine are not 'recommended' but there also has no ill effects recommended either. Same with low dose steroid. In the end the doctor basically says it's weighing up how bad you needed the treatment vs staying safe. I will try to dig up the NHS link on this for you. This time round, I'm better with my ezcema (probably because it's over summer) I managed to stay off both. Just a liberal amount of moisturiser. So if you can survive on calamine lotion alone, then stick with it.

Everything has settled back to normal here. The contractions I had last night were very early ones I think as I didn't have backaches. It's just annoying they were uncomfortable enough to stop me sleeping! At the moment I am feeling a lot of kicks so hopefully my plan to catch up on sleep isn't going to be disturbed again Sad

OneLittleToddleTerror · 02/09/2014 08:54

MrsGiraffe12 · 02/09/2014 09:18

Morning all.

Very pleased to announce the safe arrival of my beautiful baby girl yesterday (no name yet) weighing 8lbs 2oz.

Ended up in theatre after delivery as had a 3rd degree tear as she came out with her hand on her face :-(

All worth it though as she's amazing and her big brother thinks the world of her.

Hoping to go home later today provided my obs are ok

Will update when I can x

DontBeBlueBeARainbow · 02/09/2014 09:28

CONGRATULATIONS MrsG great news ThanksThanksThanks

OneLittleToddleTerror · 02/09/2014 09:35

mrsg wonderful news. Hope they have stitched you up ok. Have you got some arnica cream? I found it really helped with the episiotomy scar I had. Also you can hire special pillows from NCT to sit on for stitches down there if you need it. Don't think you need to be a member to hire. And definitely use maternity pads and not just always night pads as the maternity ones are kinder to stitches. (I'm assuming because of previous c-section and also planned ELCS you might not have looked up caring for post VB stitches)!

I'm really looking forward to holding my newborn now.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 02/09/2014 09:37

The pillow is called valley cushions btw. I didn't need it so can't say if they are any good though.

tannyLoo · 02/09/2014 09:42

Wonderful news MrsG! I've had 3rd degree for the same reason, and it's a bit wonky, but fine down there. Arnica definitely helps, in homeopathic version also. I would avoid cocodomol for anything more than occasional use as it can make you constipated (not needed!)

So happy for you. After everything, I bet she's worth every second!

Cakebaker35 · 02/09/2014 09:44

Congratulations mrsg xxxx

squizita · 02/09/2014 09:52

MrsG congratulations!! :) Hope you're discharged quickly and your stitches heal nice and quickly!

One hope you get a sleep and next time things start they START!

Still waiting here. Baby is sitting low but appears perfectly happy to hang around... not so much as a backache, just constant weeing.

TeaandHobnobs · 02/09/2014 09:57

Amazing MrsG! Congratulations! Thanks

HollyBen · 02/09/2014 10:13

Congratulations mrsg. That's a very good weight too. Well done you x

Gwlondon · 02/09/2014 10:28

Congratulations mrsgiraffe12! Enjoy!

fedupofrainydays · 02/09/2014 10:35

Congratulations mrsg!! So glad she arrived safe and well!

Ds was also out with hand up by face so I got a 3rd degree last time so if you want anyone to talk to about this / aftercare - I'm your woman!!

Just had my mw appt and mixed feelings. Pleased baby seemed ok but also feel odd it was 4/5 engaged. Said its normal for second pregnancies for them to bob in and out though.
I have low BP hence the ill feeling but not a lot I can do about it.
But I'm most worried about the position - it's exactly the same as ds was - and that got me in complications. I know I have a consultant appt and scan at 38 weeks to confirm planned mode of delivery but I feel weird about it all. Kind of all coming back now....

She also booked me in for possible sweep say before due date. If consultant says it's ok / not to do c section

Think I just need to not think about it really and just go with the flow.

Alb1 · 02/09/2014 11:47

Congratulations mrsg that's lovely news, hope your home soon enjoying your new born cuddles Thanks

one sorry it's all died down for you, but hopefully next time will be the real thing!

Alb1 · 02/09/2014 11:49
