June people! we are hopeless! Even the April lot manage to post now & again... (though they are probably on mat. leave by now) Do you realise no one has posted on the old thread for nearly a week?!

OMG Secur, your past sounds a bit traumatic - is she still a friend or is that a silly question??

Know what you mean about limited funds but I just cannot budget, I just was never brought up to worry about the pennies so that the pounds looked after themselves...

Will you have internet access once you're on maternity leave?

What's ironing

You are very forgiving - is your dh the same? (sorry I am being very nosey now).

Oh yes you MUST get that computer sorted out. I've become too attached to mine - being a SAHM it's a lifeline to chatting, certain friends and shopping of course!

I must now really detach myself thoug from it cos I need to shower and get dressed and stop neglecting dd this morning. I'll be back this pm no doubt when she is at nursery...

DD now at nursery - hooray!

Secur - you two sound really easy going. Don't know how I'd react in that situation but personally I reckon I would feel funny being good friends with someone who got so intimate and went through such a history with my dh. Is your friend excited for you at the moment?

I've managed to do my back in this afternoon after surviving all these weeks being quite smug about it. Hope it's a temporary glitch. But I have finally washed the baby clothes so if I had to pack in a hurry I would have everything now. DD also made me play mummy to her Annabell doll and it felt really strange 'cuddling' a 'baby'. Now I'm excited and scared at the same time.

How are you all feeling? Secur - any more little twinges?

We're hopeless, absolutely hopeless with money here too (everyone else on MN seems to have huge quantities or money, we seem to be the skint thread ) Always have cc bills, pay them off somehow then they gallop up again - dh probably worse than me so we're better having a joint account that way I can keep half an eye on what he's spending!

I have access all the time, pc in sitting room so I can theoretically let them play whilst mumsnetting but reality is no2 tries to destroy house while no1 tries to destroy him so it doesn't work.

Feel like poo today, want to go to bed. Does anyone else feel like the days are draaaaaagggggginnnnngggggg past?

monkeygirl · 20/05/2004 14:40

OMG, now that is amazing that you would do that - dont' think I could. I'm even more surprised that your and dh's relationship with your friend didn't go sour after such a offer. Is she in a relationship now?

Oh don't laugh but I did have a sneaky practice with positioning Baby Annabell for bf! I'm afraid I can just remember the bad bf times at the moment - think I mentioned that I wasn't looking forward to it - but I will try it see if I can get less het up about it. DD1 used to be attached literally for hours and hours until I cried with frustration. Looking back I now realise that a lot of it was probably comfort sucking which hopefully I'll be more wise to this time round.

Hi Skara - yes the days are dragging - I feel like I've been telling people the birth is only 3 weeks away for ages (I think if I lie that it will actually make it happen sooner!)

yes this has to be the longest 3 weeks in living history - and if I get to 41+anything weeks I'll be pulling it out myself

oops have to go, late again to pick up no1, am world's most disorganised mother, no2 is still asleep in cot, now have to wake and change him in next 2 mins then gallop fatly to school (self induction method?)

karen01 · 20/05/2004 14:57

Hi all, we are hopeless with money too the only reason we have a bit at the mo is i sold my flat when we got married at a nice little profit

Had scan this morning baby is head down, 3/5 engaged and weighs approx 2.6kg (5lb 11oz)

Consultant told me and dh to have plenty of sex and curries. (which after sunday can't have either. I don't eat curry) I asked her about rasberry leaf tea and she said worth a try. Were can I get it from tried Tescos and they had no rasberry tea on its own, am I looking for the wrong thing!!!!
She has made an appointment to see me on due date for another scan and consultation if i haven't delivered. She did say in the nicest possible way "I hope I don't see you" So hopefully that means she thinks I amy have it a little earlier than 17th. If I do go over she said she will let me go 10 days over then if nothing has happened I will have to have a c-section instead of inducing as this can put to much pressure on previous scar. Which I am ok with, hopefully I will go into spontaneous labour before then.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Karen, not at the same time I hope (the sex and curry that is). Is DH off again after Sunday then? Like I said before, the way I feel I will not be going up that road this time unless really really desperate. Sounds like very goo dnews about your db though.

Do you have a Holland & Barratts or something similar near you - I seem to remember they sell the raspberry leaf tea or capsules if you prefer.

And yes, if one more person expresses surprise that I haven't given birth yet I will scream - what do yo think I'm doing - corking him up on purpose for a special occasion!!!!

Just got some capsules from H and B as don't think I will like the tea. It says to take one 3-6 times a day!! How many should I take I was only going to do 1-2 a day for the next wk to 10days then up it.

Take care all

Karen, does it say how many mg of leaf there is per tablet? Mine are about 900 I think, white tub, dark green label, can't get off chair to go and see manufacturer - sure when I was pg first time I took loads. Am so fed up with being pregnant this time round that I've gone a bit mad with the home induction methods...v hot chilli the night before last, v hot curry last night, bath with clary sage oil last night, have eaten 2 whole pineapples in the last couple of days and guess what - even tried sex Still no labour signs though...am even reading the 'check your own cervix for signs of dilation' thread with renewed interest! Tried to drink some of the actual raspberry leaf tea but it is VILE. Think I'll go for a long walk tomorrow and see if that helps. Good news about the baby being head down and engaged, and sounds like you've got a fairly amenable consultant too which helps

monkeygirl · 21/05/2004 14:14

I don't think I can be bothered with trying the raspberry leaf tea, as much as I am now just about ready for the event. I do try and walk/waddle several miles a week still, although it is becoming increasingly painful. I'm gobsmacked though I can still fit behind my car's steering wheel and reach the pedals (good job I'm taller than 5'4"!).

Sorry to be a killjoy but I'm glad it's now cooler - I've been having to wash my nightie, pillowcase and bra every day recently. I'm sure this sweating has also got something to do with all my bloody spots.

I was bored last night and made the mistake of channel-hopping on cable - came across a programme solely devoted to emergency deliveries. Now I'm paranoid about bloody everything! Are all you home birth people just natural non-worriers then?

ooh no MG, quite the opposite! I'm a worrier by nature, but am also a total control freak who hates being told what to do. At home you have a midwife (or two) with you the whole time, whereas (at least round here) in hosp you take your chances - a friend just gave birth last week and there was one midwife for three women all in labour at the same time

Skara · 21/05/2004 14:30

oh and I can't believe you're waddling several miles a week - I haven't done that much in the last few months! Lumbering along with 4yo and pushchair up and down the hills round here is too hideous to contemplate. And I'm with you on the heat thing - was pouring sweat in a most unattractive fashion all night long and sleeping with only a sheet at night.
