Ok checked my credit card bill and heart stopped momentarily - not sure what will happen to dh's heart though.

I agree about letting them get on with being naked as long as it's not walking down the High Street or something similar. I too don't want to pass on my hang-ups to my dd but it's sometimes hard with grandparents (my parents) who very much have Victorian values mixed with repressed Mediterranean small village mentality (not a good mix).

Caithncait - I too know loads of mums round here who all have large houses. I am grateful for what we have but sometimes I do feel claustrophobic, especially now that it's getting hot and humid (though I guess we have nothing on Australia!).

Secur - we have an attic we could convert (if we had the money, natch) but don't want to go down that road, mostly cos our school catchment area is crap, so that's a good enough reason to move as far as I'm concerned.

So back to my previous question, are you all getting 'measured' regularly then? Just curious...

And is anyone else coming out in spots - I thought I'd been there and done that in the first trimester but they're back and in the weirdest places!

monkeygirl · 19/05/2004 14:58

Secur - now that is pregnancy madness - can you change it?

Oh - maybe they'll give you special dispensation, especially if you take the exam with a baby attached to your breast

Know what you mean about that occasional feeling of inadequacy house-wise. I live in an area of London which has has a lot of posh rich mums - nothing against most of them and I can't pretend we are on the breadline, but when I hear some of the kids saying they are off to their other house in the country at the weekend, I can't help feeling a little bit green.

no spots, in fact skin is spookily clear and glowing according to everyone which must be either hormones or all this blooming water I keep drinking! And no, mw looks at me and says 'you're just the right size' but has never used a tape measure, so she must just go by eye - one week she did say I was a couple of weeks ahead but it'd calmed down by the time she next visited.

Cathncait, something weird's happened here too - woke up this morning, all hip/pelvis/etc pain gone, sudden overwhelming urge to clean and cook, feathers sprouting in odd places, toes turning into claws... Def. having a nesting turn!

And we too have v little room compared to everyone else we know - they all have playrooms, separate grown-up sitting rooms, huge gardens, 3 abroad holidays a year, etc. When we move we'll have more room but also won't be in affluent communterville so hopefully everyone won't be constantly mentionint that they're considerably richer than us

Monkeygirl, I get measured at every checkup, one of which my Dr thought I was biger than due date so sent me for ultrasound (at 34weeks) to check there wasn't excess fluid which can idicate problems with baby's kidneys apparently. It was fine and this week mw thought I was slighlty smaller than due date (find that hard to believe!). So pretty much doesn't seem to make much difference I think.

Goodness busy chatting ladies today. Glad that we all seem to be feeling better and grumps of last few weeks have disappeared!!

I am with you on the credit card bill Monkeygirl having just spent all afternoon buying stuff on-line - nappies, nursing bras, footmuffs etc. I had been really good up until now and it has just all gone pear shaped! Hey ho at least I don't need to worry about DH having a fit as I have used my credit card - we are not stupid enough to have joint finances as we are both really bad with cash.

Secur are you sitting FPC/CII exams by any chance? The timing has made me suspicious....

No progress on the essay but more importantly I have started on RL capsules and am hoping it will work for me and get things moving in the right direction. 2 weeks to go, 2 weeks to go.... And if I can get it to happen before next week I can surely get an extension on the essay? May even need to take a leaf from Karens book and indulge - just don't know if I am brave enough.

Skara I am Scottish in Scotland. Where are you from originally?

I am afraid to say we are one of those lucky families with too much space for bodies. But we are as Secur noted mortaged to the hilt and I really can't keep the bloody thing clean or tidy or to be fair even habitable at this point

Also Monkeygirl I was measured on Friday at Consultant appointment and measured 42 cms but this was the first an actual tape has been used this time around. Was measured at every appointment with DD and sudden increase was how they discoverd she was breech (well that and the scan of course). I think it is all subjective to be fair and I really wouldn't worry.

Right of to nap - DD with PsIL this PM so I can 'work on my essay'.

Hello to all and somebody please pop soon!!

No I am AFPC and boringly ACII too - worked for a mutal for a few years and coped with the bordeom by studying.

Sounds like you have lots of support closer to home but please feel free to ask if you need to!

Cheers

But in days before children and when still keen to impress. Also lots of support from company made it much easier.

You might have guessed I am a bit of a 'seriel studier' - have just never managed to do quite what I really want so just keeping on going....

Gomez, originally northern (Inverness), via S.East Coast (will completely give myself away to any lurking stalkers if I say any more) to the rolling hills of Englandshire

What has happened to us? It's like we got a blather injection, we're so talktative now!

Or is it an illness suffered by accountants this time of year?

Monkeygirl: we are in a little terrace with a tiny back patio which is ok, but I really wish it was a big back garden with climbing frame, wendy house, all that.... We had been looking for 7 months! But had an offer accepted today (it's a miracle, hooray!). Not that big a garden, but a lot more than we have now, at least. WE might do a loft conversion, too, in the new house.

Everyone in the family assumes we are well off but the new house will clean us out and we'll be back to saving up to buy anything nice... Am glad not to have credit card headaches, though. Am I the only one who has bought almost nothing for the new baby? Since this should be my last, I can't wait to start selling off and giving it away.

Fundus height: They have done mine at every appt... but I haven't had many appointments... I seem to always measure exactly spot on for dates, thankfully.

Dd (2.5yo) stripped off at playgroup yesterday! I was a stripper too, though, as a tot, and DH is one still!

I'm jealous of you ladies getting regular afternoon naps -- no fair! I almost never get one.

DH's mum is on the phone giving him an earful of advice about the new house and what we should do to it, was it the right one to buy, etc. Good thing he's good natured because my pregnancy hormones would make me be quite ratty if she tried to give me any advice! I just needed us to get it sorted.

Two or three times in the last week I have HAD to have a little nap as I've been so exhausted so lucky dd gets NickJr/Cbeebies on for a bit and, bless her, she has mostly let me sleep (although it's always fitful cos I guess I still need to keep an eye on her!).

I haven't bought any baby clothes(yet!), it's the big purchases that have hammered my credit card eg needed a new cot and a new pram because the one we have for dd has coincidently nearly finally given up the ghost after nearly 3 years, + buggy board. And I find it's all the 'little' bits that add up as well - new sheets, nursing bras, some maternity clothes for me, bf pads, maternity pads, bf nightshirt, and other things I should have bought first time round etc etc etc I dunno, but the list seems to go on and on. And of course I absolutely needed some new perfume and make-up for summer for ME Oh yeah and summer clothes and shoes for dd1. Oh well, it's not real money on a card is it!

Yes we are a bit like certain terrorist groups - their internet 'chatter' increases substantially just before a big attack (sorry, don't mean to make light of terrorist activity though).

Loads of mums on MN always recommend Asda - sadly we don't have one near us at all. Oh and the fact that both me and Dh are crap with money probably doesn't help. He never worries about it, I do occasionally, but other times I just think it's not worth stressing out over, as long as we are not thousands in debt.

I've also noticed in the past that Thursday is usually quite a chatty day for us lot, whilst hardly anyone comes on at the weekend. Well, it was until I put the kiss of death on it I bet!
