cake I remember now! you are a couple of weeks behind me I think and had the SCH at about the same stage I think?
My 1st bleed reached my knees and was terrifying. If it helps at all, last bleed about 2 w ago, so fx things settle for you. Hoping bean remains sticky, and far removed from any bleeds. Hoping you're managing to look after yourself. X
Last time I had a bleed they blamed the clexane, which I think had been started when I started bleeding :S

Cakebaker35 · 29/07/2014 17:41

Thanks cuppa it's really good to hear all is well with you and your bean and yes I remember now about us both having SCH. I'm hoping that things do start to ease off but at the same time sort if expecting them not to. If it's low lying placenta then just have to hope it moves up or that's going to be a whole new world of fun! Hardest thing I'm finding at the mo is looking after dd, she's figured out there's a baby in my tummy and it's so scary to think I'd have to tell her if something went wrong. Shouldn't think like that I know, but v hard. Also I just feel I'm not much fun for her at the moment, definitely not my usual self, but trying to be positive as I can around her.

KeepingTheFaith9 · 29/07/2014 17:50

Hello ladies. Just dropping in whilst sitting on the train - hello to all and hands extended to all those awaiting scans - those waits can seem forever can't they.

happilymarried I bought a Doppler at about 12 weeks which I still use at 28/3 when baby isn't very active - really helps calm me.

cake sorry to hear about your bleeding - I get a bit off and on now and again, my placenta is low - have they told you this might be the source of the bleeding? When I ask no one seems to mention it as possibility for me which is strange I reckon.

Welcome boozle hope all goes well for you in the coming weeks.

Question for all ladies who are already mums - where can I find a list of stuff I need to start buying for baby?

Will they hand out this kind of info at the NCT classes? Or the hospital ones?

Anywhere good on line I can look? I'm clueless and have nothing so far but clothes and a nappy disposal unit (currently half price in Mothercare btw!)

Thanks for any help in advance.

Oh and ginger sweets (Gin Gins) from holland and Barrett helped me with nausea.

Smile
Cakebaker35 · 29/07/2014 18:47

keeping yes I've been told low lying placentas can sometimes be the cause of bleeding, although not all of them do. Do you mind if I ask, has it caused you any other problems at all? Are you being monitored more closely etc? I've been told if it's placenta previa I'll be monitored a lot.

As for what you need for a new baby, the honest answer is not as much as most people (and the shops!) make you think you need Smile there are a few sensible websites like nhs and this one a good starting point too
www.babycentre.co.uk/a559809/buying-for-baby-what-you-really-need
It's very much personal choice but the good advice I was given is the shops don't suddenly shut once you have a baby, you can get things after too! [grim] so you obviously need the basics in time for your new arrival (something to sleep in/wear/travel in/nappies etc) but it's quite nice to get some things after baby is here too, especially if you don't know what flavour you're having. Id suggest having a think about feeding too - If you plan to breast feed then you'll need breast pads, feeding bras etc for you. I think everyone buys lots for the baby but forgets what you'll need as mum too. X

OneLittleToddleTerror · 29/07/2014 19:21

keeping NHS has a list www.nhs.uk/Conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/Pages/what-you-need-for-baby.aspx#close

I remember I was give a pregnancy book by them, and then a birth to 5 when DD was born. Are they still giving them out?

There are also things I have learned from mumsnet. For example, I swear by grobags (aka sleeping bags). They make so much easier to put a baby to sleep and they don't have to come off for night feedings either. Though they have a minimum weight so you can't use it until your baby reach it. You will have to use blankets before. If you look around the boards, everyone has their own must have items that are different from others.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 29/07/2014 19:23

Not only shops don't close, kiddicare can do next day delivery if you are desperate!

Babytinx11 · 29/07/2014 20:25

Need a fish slap badly having a major freak out that I'm going to get to my 12 week scan and there will be no heartbeat can't get it out of my head that something is wrong I really don't know what to do :( DH is working late too so I can't even freak out at him :(

Happilymarried155 · 29/07/2014 20:38

How long is it until your 12 week scan. I'm sure everything is fine and if I remember correctly you had a scan and saw a heartbeat so everything is in your favour. How many weeks are you now? X

Babytinx11 · 29/07/2014 20:42

I'll be 9 weeks tomorrow so I think 3 weeks at most till my 12 weeks scan I did have a scan last Wednesday heartbeat and everything I don't know why I'm just really panicky that something is wrong

Happilymarried155 · 29/07/2014 20:53

You have no reason to think that everything is anything other than fine. Your little bean was fine last week so you need to remember that and try and keep calm.

I know how you feel I had my scan 10 days ago and i have days of worry but I figure that is all part of preparation of being a mummy x

Cakebaker35 · 29/07/2014 21:03

baby a gentle minnow slap for you. As others have said, you've no reason to think anything is wrong after your scan last week so try try try to focus on what a positive thing that was. The wait until 12 wks is so tough and as someone who has now had 7 scans and I'm only 15 wks I totally understand that scans are really only reassuring for a very short time sadly. Just know you're not alone, we all feel 'sure' something has gone wrong from time to time and it's totally natural after the stress of mc. Be kind to yourself and tomorrow things will feel brighter x

MrsGiraffe12 · 29/07/2014 21:32

And the pre eclampsia has officially struck, after weeks and weeks of threatening :-( only mild, but have midwife daily for blood pressure and urine, and once weekly bloods :-( they are hopeful to get me to 36 weeks though as like I said it's only mild. 34+2 now. Just "relieved" in a way as it's been threatening for so long I've dreaded each appointment and now it's here I don't need to hold my breathe at each appointment of that makes sense. Of course, id rather not have it, but the worry didn't help! And this means a vbac is off the table now and they will be doing a c section regardless so am booked in at 38+4, as 39+1 weeks is the day DS goes back to school, and they only do planned sections on Mondays and Thursdays here :-) so by 28th August I'll be holding my baby :-) 30 days to go :-)

Babytinx11 · 29/07/2014 22:52

Thank you guys DH just pointed out that it was a week after we had a scan last time that we lost the baby but 3 weeks on from that that we found out if that makes sense which is probably why I am worried it's all the timings again but I am feeling much more positive after a long cry on the phone to DH and talking to you guys :)

mrsg a mixed bag there then hope everything goes ok for you and it stays mild must be an odd kind of relief knowing now that you have it

KeepingTheFaith9 · 29/07/2014 23:23

Cake Baker re the low placenta - was spotted at 20 weeks, then again at 23 weeks and again at 27. The reason I know it's still low is because extra scan @ 23 weeks showed it had not moved and scan 27 weeks (due to bleeding) showed it still covering OS.

They have booked me in for a 32 week scan (26/8) to see if it's moved.

My guess is possibly not, owing to the light intermittent bleeds (last one was Sunday) I am now seeing midwife every 2 weeks. I have been told no heavy lifting, no flying, no sex.

If I get a noticeable amount of pink/red blood I am to go straight to the hospital.

So not exactly careful monitoring but they are definitely keen for me to monitor myself.

One Todd and cake thanks for advice and links on baby essentials - will have a butchers.

Mrs G sorry about the pre-E, but as you say, at least you know.

Tinx hoping your scan fears are allayed by positive news soonest.

Night night ladies. Grin

DrFunkesFamilyBandSolution · 30/07/2014 06:22

Gentle slap for you baby.

I keep dropping off the thread! I've got a 20wk scan this afternoon, will update stats tonight so if anyone wants to be added on their phone!

Everything crossed for no more bleeding Keeping. X

Sorry for your pre eclampsia Giraffes

Davidtennantmistress · 30/07/2014 07:39

Baby hold my hand breath, it will be fine honestly. We can do five weeks together, I've got two more to go. Helps once you get a date to aim for!

Booking in apt went well yesterday. Told my boss as well, it would appear that I am the office gossip this week which I am really pissed off with, my boss thankfully is very understanding and brilliant, I had to reiterate that I've only told x and no one else in the work force as he would of been the first to be told out of respect. Anyhow,

10+1 eeeeekkkk! Double figures, is anyone else finding a tender bit on the bikini line? I've tried to dr google it but nothing comes up, I can almost feel the top of my womb set to the left popping up, is the right does anyone else have that or did I over do it moving the beds about yesterday?

Keeping, hope the bleeding stops soon,

Mrs g sorry about pre e. :-( ooh go for the 28 th not checked the day on the calendar, ooh it's a Thursday I think isn't it, is ds2's birthday, a highly spirited little boy! End is in sight yay!

Cuppachaplz · 30/07/2014 07:53

mrsg, sorry to hear about the preeclampsia, but glad to hear they are looking after you. Take care of yourself and stay well. xx

baby so sorry you're feeling like this. early days are the worst, and I hope you get the reassurance you need soon. Gently fishy tickle for you!

Good luck with the scan today drfunk

cake, that's one of my biggest fears too, DH had just left for a 10 day trip with family last week when I got the call from the hospital, keep having nightmares now that he'll get back and it will al be over. Hoping you get some relief from the bleeding soon; it's such a soul-wrenching thing to have to watch and worry about constantly. I'm sure to DD thinks you are the best Mam ever, and plenty of fun! huge hugs

waves to everyone else

Cakebaker35 · 30/07/2014 08:16

keeping thanks for the info, that's pretty much what I've been told too so it sounds like just more regular checks etc. they did also say if it hadn't moved up by 34 wks and there was bleeding I might be admitted for last few weeks of preg and do a section around 37 wks. I must've looked as horrified as I felt as consultant said oh but let's not worry about sections yet. I said I'm not worried about a section. (Had emcs with dd) it's the hospital stay that worries me, the logistics would be a nightmare and I'd hate so much to be away from dd and home, but def not worth thinking about as that is a very long way off.

Thanks cuppa Smile

So I saw something in the news last night which gave me a mighty fish slap too. Was about gaza and thus young mum who'd given birth that morning in a school hall she is sheltering in with 80 other people. Politics and ideologies of the situation aside, I just looked at this frightened young woman and felt so sad for her, and I decided to try and think whatever happens I'm pretty lucky in comparison.

Babytinx11 · 30/07/2014 08:45

Thank you guys much appreciated feel like a bit of a mad woman at the moment :( davidtennat I've got my book app tomorrow not sure I am looking forward to it just hoping I don't have to wait too long after for my 12 week scan :) shame about the office gossip though it sad that they feel the need :(

cake I hope that bleeding stops for you soon

KeepingTheFaith9 · 30/07/2014 09:00

Cake A quick one, as at the office. They told me a C Sec likely if the scan shows no movement at 32wks - but I've heard others say that it can move up until 36 weeks so who knows when they will make that judgement call. I would not be keen to stay in hosp for last few weeks - nightmare. Like you, I am cool with the C Sec but not the hosp stay!! LOL
Let's see how it all pans out!
Have a good day all Smile

amicablemoomin · 30/07/2014 09:38

hi everyone, just checking in after our 20 week scan yesterday - it all looks good and everything normal. DH and I feel almost in a state of shock - suddenly it all feels real and possible which is both exciting and terrifying. I cant believe we have got this far this time - keep fully expecting to get told something is not right and have our hopes dashed. Feeling quite emotional with it all.

Cake, how horribly, horribly stressful for you. Don't ever feel you can't come and have a moan or a stress though, that is what we are here for. Wonderful that your bean is still growing and thriving, but horrible for you.

Cuppa - glad you are having a good day and everything is well

Welcome Boozle, I don't think I could have got through without this thread.

squizita · 30/07/2014 09:57

MrsG glad you got a diagnosis. It's less uncertain although a massive hassle for you. :)

Baby it is always so stressful at the start. Take care.

Funny question: I am 'mixed care' so see a MW at a local centre and consultant/scans at a big central London hospital (where I will give birth). Due to some issues with illnesses going round in the area, they're not doing tours at the moment - you can watch a video and call them. I'm fine with that, but how would I go about letting them know I'd like to use the MLU and getting someone to write this down on my notes clearly? The local MW is not linked to the hospital and the consultants only deal with the other extreme (when the risk is higher) when it comes to birth!
Some people say you just turn up and ask if there's space in the MLU but given my history (which is written in highlighter on the front of my notes by the team) I think I'll need a note saying I'm OK!

Cakebaker35 · 30/07/2014 10:17

amicable fantastic scan news x

mrsg glad you've got your diagnosis, hope you're feeling ok and that you're getting lots of looking after in rl

squizita I'd probably have a chat with your mw about it, see if she needs to write something or if you need approval from consultants. It probably differs by area but around here the mlu's don't accept anyone that's had anything other than a text book, straightforward pregnancy.

CorporeSarnie · 30/07/2014 12:56

squiz, I would try and get a letter from your consultant supporting delivery at MLU; as your history is complicated there is a decent chance of your being sent straight to the consultant-led delivery unit if you go to the MLU.
I don't think a MW note on your notes will cut it and wouldn't take the chance, although worth having MW sign off that it is OK.
As all my care is within the same health authority the booking appointment was where this was all dealt with, however I was happy to go to consultant-led care and delivery due to DDs prem labour (which was more than likely caused by consultant actions [ECV]). It is more complicated when these decisions are made after booking as having a clear paper trail is important.
I toured the MLU last time - ended up being a total waste of time due to the end-stage complications, and actually not sure what the purpose of it was, you're definitely not missing out.

Babytinx11 · 30/07/2014 13:29

Hugely reassuring if flooring bout of sickness today thank god DH is off work I don't know how I would manage otherwise going to talk to mw at booking app tomorrow.

squiz when I had DS I had to have a letter from my midwife and consultant to say I could use the birth center so I could have a water birth as it turned out I was induced so couldn't any way but I would have thought they could do something for you :)
