Blank, step away from doctor google!!! And everyone else who's tempted! It serves to stress you out and second guess yourself! Trust me I know! Grin

Booking in apt today with the m.w and two children and the sickness has returned big time. When does it leave again?!? A lough a day with no headache would also be good.

amicablemoomin · 29/07/2014 07:49

morning everyone. Couldn't agree more with david - google is not your friend....

20 week scan today for me.

Cuppachaplz · 29/07/2014 08:09

Morning everyone,

fab news internets and chops

Hoe you're feeling better soon bluestars

Squiz, this week you seem to be making my mornings with smiley stories, thanks :)

names, eek! I don't think I could dare (despite DS' awful helpful suggestions). I can't help thinking that if I get that far, poor cuplet will be called 'thingy' for a few days!

re the carseat, I had assumed that I would need a new one too, and asked in the shop when I was trying to budget. I was told that it was fine, which was echoed by the company/ Looks to me like there is very little plastic in it, as it is a very early carrycot type, which last time we only used for a few weeks before (very large) DS grew out of it. It was supposed to convert to the next stage, but this was really hard going. I had planned to use again for a few weeks before moving to an ERF multistage one, but maybe I'll ask again in another store.
TBH, right now it really doesn't feel like I'll get that far anyway...

I spoke to a different MW yesterday, who was a bit more helpful, and gave me more options etc. DH and I have decided at at nearly 19w, we don't want to wait 2w on NIFTY results and then potentially be faced with the same decision, and perversely I rather feel that since everything has been against us, that is exactly what will happen. MW suggested that I keep the appt, and chat to consultant about everything, then walk away if I don't want anything done, which makes sense. Also been told that I would be unable to fly for 2-3 weeks afterwards, and we are due to go on holiday at the end of next week. Whilst I know we are insured, DS would be very disappointed, and DH and I have been counting down for months; its been a very long couple of years! Oh the drama.

I don't know if its worry, the heat, or the baby shoving everything upwards, but MS has gotten appreciably worse again last few days, and my meds seem to have stopped working... I've lost half a stone over the last 6w (however, I did put on loads during the early enforced bed rest, so maybe I am just equalising). Thank heavens for ice coolers!

Sorry for yet another long rambling post.
Sticky sunshine hugs to all

CallingAllEngels · 29/07/2014 08:09

internet size varies so much in the early stages (and the late stages come to think of it!) So don't worry.

good luck today moomin

Hope you're feeling better soon david

Toddler free day today Smile time to clear out all my thin clothes so I don't have to rummage every morning for something that fits!

18+2

Cuppachaplz · 29/07/2014 08:11

ooh, good luck amicable
hope it goes well x

CallingAllEngels · 29/07/2014 08:15

Re car seat we will use the same one with ds, which was also used for dns. Following the guidelines we should get a new one, but we know that it has never been left in tne car (sun damage etc) unless in use.

We only get 3 days to register birth and name in the Netherlands so have to make sure we have our names sorted, which I know will be a nightmare as dh is fussy has different taste to me and name has to work in dutch and english (Zach is totally off the table, is a slangterm for scrotum here and used to insult people - well zak ). Vowel sounds are pronounced differently and J is pronounced Y.

ilovechops · 29/07/2014 08:59

good luck amicable

internet i did exactly the same as you!!! My dates are unclear but the Dr thinks between 4.5 and 5 weeks and baby measured 1.3mm (TINY) but from my dates I should be at least 5 weeks so a bit confused and also googled size and freaked out that it's too small despite being told by Dr it's what she would expect to see. Google is not good. I also googled Yolk sac size (for no reason) and panicked myself that it's 4mm which seems dangerously close to over 5mm which is deemed 'too big' by many and more likely to result in miscarriage. I spent 2hrs yesterday worrying and googling...and then eventually found an article saying yolk sac should be between 3-5mm mean and realised I was just being ridiculous and needed to stop.

I also remember with my first pregnancy I had a scan at 7.5 weeks for some bleeding and my DD was small for dates and I panicked...for no reason. Perhaps we have smaller babies? I know I do as DD was 6lb at 2 weeks overdue. Also the Dr I saw said sizing before 6weeks is very unreliable as they are so small so it's worth remembering that. When is your next scan?

Anyway following all that I had terrible nausea all evening and when I went to bed. Still feel rough today but not so bad thank goodness as was worried.

Anyone got any good morning sickness tips? I have a feeling I am going to suffer If I am feeling it this early on...

Babytinx11 · 29/07/2014 11:36

I can't remember who it was in here but someone suggested really cold orange juice I've been drinking that for a couple of days now and it's helping I've also got new anti sickness tablets from my gp because basically I tried everything anyone suggested and nothing worked for long but the most helpful was ice pops and ice cold orange juice :)

squizita · 29/07/2014 11:55

Internet At the start I got a lot of bruises, now I kind of know the best places. Also I got so used to the burn I stopped using ice - so it gets better.

Davids Sorry to hear you're feeling sick again, hope it's reassuring but not awful.

Cuppa Hope you feel less sick soon too.

Engels Have had to sort through my pregnancy clothes as some (you know- bigger tops with a bump band) are snug! 2nd sort of the 9 months LOL! I think it's the weather, I actually have stuff to wear but I just look and thing 'too hot'.

Google is positively dangerous. People clutching at straws for an answer to a loss or peddling medicines (especially overseas) are very quick to post 'reasons' and 'warning signs' actual gynocologists who, the google folk say, are in on a conspiracy poo poo. If worried, I go with The Miscarriage Association, Tommys, The NHS and Mumsnet. The first two even have a phoneline. All of these know their stuff.

My top tip for sickness is crunchy/savoury/bland so your stomach never feels empty. Oat cakes, Matzo crackers etc' with nothing on them. Plain crisps also.
Orange actually triggered sickness for me but fizzy water or weak Ribina very cold worked. I also personally find (from hangover experience) that a little dairy fat helps settle me so mini babybels or laughing cow triangles with the dry crackers helped.

squizita · 29/07/2014 11:56

...obviously hangovers were pre pregnancy!! Wow I wonder when I will feel a hangover next. Probably the first time I have, like, 1 drink after the baby Grin because my body will be so unused to it.

Boozle80 · 29/07/2014 13:13

Hi everyone, can I very tentatively join please? I've been lurking for the past week, not daring to post incase it immediately cursed me for being too optimistic that this baby maybe viable!

I think I'm five weeks today but got a scan booked in a couple of weeks as I had a very slight bleed scare last week (how much did I crap my pants!) so reckon I'll know for definite then.

Anyway, I just wanted to wave hello and fingers crossed for a long and happy stay with all you lovely ladies!

CorporeSarnie · 29/07/2014 13:13

squiz, one of my guilty pleasures whilst on ML was bfing DD her last evening feed with a glass of wine in my hand (as the alcohol doesn't hit the bloodstream for a while, and doesn't persist in bm, there is no need to pump & dump). Admittedly I don't think I got up to more than a glass or two for a year or so after DD was born, but a glass a couple of times a week with DH did help me to feel less like a dairy cow and more like a social human being.

CorporeSarnie · 29/07/2014 13:14

Congrats boozle, today you are pregnant. Good luck for next week and welcome.

CorporeSarnie · 29/07/2014 13:17

chops, I agree with squiz, bland carby stuff was what I wanted to keep the nausea at bay (although I was lucky to only actually be sick a couple of times). Rice cakes, crisps and (unfortunately for my waistline) chips were on my list of things I could stomach. I like fizzy water as well for helping quell the nausea slightly.

Cakebaker35 · 29/07/2014 13:33

Hello all, been away from the thread for a few days and so much to catch up with! Congratulations to all those with positive scan news and welcome to the newbies too.

Cream crackers and ritz crackers were my saviours when I felt sick. Also lots of bowls of weetabix seemed to help.

corpore I was just the same with dd, having that odd glass of wine really helped when all I felt like was a dairy cow sometimes.

Part of the reason I've not posted much lately is I'm just so bloody grumpy and don't want to always be on here with negative vibes. The saga continues with yet more bleeding, more scans and trips to see bemused consultants. I have no more visible clots left so that's no longer the cause, they've ruled out various nasties like infections, cervical cancer etc etc but still no obvious reason found. The best guess now is it's low lying placenta, but that can't be confirmed until 20 wks apparently as they all look pretty low at this stage (I'm 15+2). Midwife popped in yesterday to listen for a heartbeat as I'd had another bleed and the stress/logistics of getting to epu with a toddler just too much yesterday. Thankfully she found a hb straight away. So we continue on this merry-go-round of bleeding/anxiety/reassurance for 30 secs. I never expected to enjoy pregnancy after mmc, but I wasn't quite bargaining for this ongoing stress either. I'm just sad I can't enjoy this for a minute at the moment.

Sorry for woe is me - that's why I'm not posting much!

X

GandTnow · 29/07/2014 13:54

Cake so sorry you're still having to go through all of this, it must be so worrying. Don't be daft about neg posts, we all have our moments! Grin. Here's hoping that they will soon be able to identify the reason for the bleeding and it can be managed without further stress.

Feeling pretty doom and gloom today. Waiting for 12 week scan on 7th is hell. Found myself sobbing on the landing floor today for no particular reason but worry. Trying to keep it together for DD and DH. It's my b'day next week (couple of days before scan) and people (who don't know) keep asking me what I want as a present. Just can't seem to be bothered this year as all I want is it to be 7th!!! Going mad.....

blankfornames · 29/07/2014 14:09

Sorry Cake that you're having such a stressful time. I've also had a couple of bleeds along the way and it's really horrible. It's great that the midwife can come to you though. Hope it all settles down for you so that you can stop the knicker watching and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.

Congrats Boozle!

I lived on potato waffles while I was sick at the beginning. Anything to do with dairy turned my stomach... unfortunately it still does. My DH came home for lunch and opened a can of tuna... jeepers, R.O.T.T.E.N!! Smell is still lingering around the place.

We haven't really discussed names yet, partly superstition, partly the fact that any name I come up with, DH tends to find a rhyming word to go along with it!

OneLittleToddleTerror · 29/07/2014 14:31

cake so sorry to hear you are still bleeding, and they can't explain what is wrong. Lets hope it's just a simple low lying placenta, which I assume can cause bleeding. On the positive side, I assume bean is still growing as it should be for 15 weeks? The next 5 week is going to be very tough for you, don't worry coming back here to vent about your worries and how fed up you are. That's what this thread is for.

Happilymarried155 · 29/07/2014 15:15

This thread moves so fast!

That must be so stressful for you cake

I'm feeling pretty much like a normal person now at 11+2 and don't have my next scan until the 8th seems like forever away. I've been really naughty and bought a doppler, I thought it might calm me and stop me googling so much. I was abit afraid if I couldn't find the heartbeat id be stressing but gave in and bought one. I used it for the first time today, it took a while and was about to give up after only finding my own when out they popped and I heard a heartbeat of 165bmp. Totally worth the money and I'm so glad I bought it, and I think il be pretty chilled for the next week or so!

Glad everyone else is getting ok x

TeaandHobnobs · 29/07/2014 15:52

cake I really feel for you Sad hang on in there and vent to us as much as you like - we won't mind!
MW appt tomorrow and I have a private scan booked for Monday. DH is coming with me to the appointment tomorrow as despite usually managing all this stuff on my own, I am suddenly having a bit of a wobble about it. I want to make sure all my concerns are recognised - DS was born at 31+5 due to unexplained bleeding that eventually triggered premature labour, so I want to know that I will be kept a close eye on this time. Really missing the lovely St Thomas' now Sad

Cuppachaplz · 29/07/2014 16:25

cake so sorry you're still bleeding. Sorry if I've missed this, but can they see what is bleeding on a scan? Don't know if helps, but I bled nearly every day of pregnancy with DS, and have had quite a few bleeds this time. Fx for you, glad you heard nice HB

corpore I too enjoyed a small, cheeky wine when bf DS. I met an old MW who recommended gin before the last feed. Yikes!....can't stand gin ;)

My personal nausea cure was fresh mint tea, am sipping a brew right now. It's the first year ever my mint patch has been vaguely under control. Seriously chops give it a try, if you don't have any! anyone who has some will happily give you tons at this time of year.

squizita · 29/07/2014 16:42

Corpore Grin I must say several of my friends have clutched my arm and said "don't worry hun, you're allowed a glass or two when you're feeding..." Goodness knows do I look like Patsy from AbFab gasping for some booze?!?

Welcome Boozle - don't worry too much at a slight bleed at 4 weeks, if it stopped promptly it is quite common. I had one with this pregnancy (and some cervical bleeding about 6 weeks) and it was all fine.

Cake :( Sorry to hear you're still bleeding but glad to hear they have ruled out all the real 'nasties' and the HB is going good and strong. Sounds like they're keeping an eye on you too.

GandT we've all had those sitting on the floor crying moments. So stressful. Hang on in there!

Blank Urgh yeah tuna and raw meat are disgusting smells during MS!!

Cakebaker35 · 29/07/2014 17:29

Thank you all for your kind words I really do appreciate it x

cuppa I've had 7 scans now, the early ones showed a massive haematoma which was the initial cause of bleeding. I passed this (was convinced I was mc'ing as clots were size of mind hand) and later scan showed no further clots. So that's why they're thinking placenta at the mo, but we will wait and see. And yes remarkably bean is growing fine and even managed a growth spurt during one of my heaviest bleeds, it's just so odd. I'm averaging a one bleed a week now, it's just tedious/tiring in a stressy way and I'm single handedly keeping the sanitary towel industry in business!

Sending you all lots of good wishes xxx

Cuppachaplz · 29/07/2014 17:30

Just had community MW visit, having had hospital let her know my blood results. Feeling better for talking about things (DH being useless).
Heard bumplet's heart beat thumping strong at 130 bum, which she said was perfect :))
1st smiles this week

Cuppachaplz · 29/07/2014 17:31

Sorry to gush, but I've moaned and cried on here all week, so it's about time! X
