Baby I'm here, take a hand and sit next to me on the sofa for our scans shortly.

I feels sicky nervous tired wondering if I can make it to lunch time and get to work. Eeek.

Happy anniversary though.

Hope everyone else is ok. Two hours and hopefully will know. Boobs are sore again but am wondering if to trust symptoms now.

amicablemoomin · 09/07/2014 07:56

great news on the successful scans, and I hope people are feeling gently vomity without actual projection! good luck to those with scans today. I have my 16 week midwife appointment and am very much hoping she will listen to the heartbeat.

EffinIneffable · 09/07/2014 08:28

Not been posting much, as trying (unsuccessfully) to not be too obsessive. Glad to hear a lot of good news coming through with the scans and hand holding for those going through that particular test today.

The cycle before we conceived, I had started fertility testing, but was never properly told my results beyond 'they're normal'. I got a print out yesterday, and discovered my thyroid function test was 2.4. For conception and pregnancy it should apparently be below 2 (in non-pregnant population, normal is considered up to 4.7). But my GP won't investigate further or treat this unless I have another two mc's. So, I now know I have an increased risk of mc in this pregnancy as well as slightly increased risk of small developmental delays to a possible baby - but b*er all I can do about it. Granted, 2.4 is hardly off the scale but I'm not sure whether to kick up a fuss, try to go private, or just tough it out. Am I just latching on to anything to stress about, or is this something I should actually take seriously? Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of this?

Gwlondon · 09/07/2014 09:02

effinineffable I don't know about thyroid function except that my obstetrician (private) says I should check it every two years. (Family history of Thyroid problems. )

I have seen an endocrinologist privately. That's the sort of thing they deal with. Looking back I don't think she was great and wasn't very interested in PCOS (my problem) other than diet and excercise, so I will find a new one after this pregnancy.

I don't know how thyroid affects pregnancy. Good luck.

BlueStarsAtNight · 09/07/2014 09:10

Hello everyone, can I join you? I'm 5+3 today, after a mc is March/April at about 10 weeks. I have a nearly 2-year old DS already.
I have hardly any symptoms other than exhaustion and the odd moment of queasiness, and finding it very hard to believe that there could actually be anything there! I feel like I'm permanently waiting for the bleeding to start, as it was about 5 weeks that it started last time.
Your phrase "today I am pregnant " has really helped me... I had to watch myself at work from saying it out loud lol!

Good luck to those of you with scans today.

Ellisisland · 09/07/2014 09:22

Cake, Baby and Davidt - hope you all have good scans today and happy news

amicablemoomin · 09/07/2014 10:06

congrats and welcome blue

Davidtennantmistress · 09/07/2014 11:09

I don't have any direct experience effie, although my sil has an underactive thyroid triggered by her ds1. I'd see if you can ask a midwife I think?

Blue hello and welcome;

baby tixs, how did you go my lovely? hoping for good news.

I am currently clutching a letter, and a little picture of our runner bean, we are 7+1 so 2 days behind but a healthy fast heartbeat we saw it!!!!! i'm so relieved, even if the first place I ran to was the loo for a wee/wipe check. but wooohoooo runnerbean and heartbeat :) i'm due approx 22nd ish feb I think, which incidently is DS1's birthday the day after so hoping this bean is late.

hope everyone's ok.

GandTnow · 09/07/2014 11:18

Glad to see good scan results and good luck to those going today.

Welcome Blue, I know what you mean about the mantra! Hoping the wait for the 12 week scan flies by for you.

Babytinx11 · 09/07/2014 12:16

Scan went well :) all is look

Babytinx11 · 09/07/2014 12:17

Oh dear joys of post on my phone in the car (don't worry I'm not driving) all went well at the scan :) going back in 2 weeks but they seemed happy with everything today feeling a bit better now :) hope everyone else is having a good day

Alb1 · 09/07/2014 12:22

Great news baby and david Grin

amicablemoomin · 09/07/2014 12:40

fantastic news baby and david - enjoy that fantastic feeling!!

I'm just back from my midwife appointment at 16 weeks and it went really well - she found the heartbeat straight away so feeling very reassured. She said not to expect to feel movement for a first baby until past 20 weeks, although some people feel earlier....I hope I am one of them :-)

Davidtennantmistress · 09/07/2014 12:46

:) big smiles all around; TODAY WE ARE PREGNANT ladies, lets do a little dance and wiggle our bottoms!

BlueStarsAtNight · 09/07/2014 12:50

That's great news baby and david, I'm really happy for you Smile.
And lovely that you got to hear the heartbeat amicable. They were really stuffy with me when I was pregnant with DS and I really had to fight for them to listen at 16 weeks, glad not everywhere is like that!

Cakebaker35 · 09/07/2014 14:05

Great to hear everyone's good scan and appt news Smile

Had my 12 wk scan today and glad to report all is well, measuring nicely at 12+2 and waving like mad! Nuchal measurement also looked good which is a relief at my ripe old age! Feeling a big sigh of relief but I'm sure I'll be back to being a stressed nutter by next week - will try not to though and all your posifrickentivity will help!

effie no personal experience of thyroid issues but my good friend was diagnosed after she had her baby with thyroid problems - so severe they were amazed she had ever conceived! She had a very healthy pregnancy with no issues at birth but suffered with pnd after and that was actually a lot to do with her thyroid being all over the place. She has since had it removed and is now on medication. I'm sure yours is nowhere near as serious but I would say maybe keep pushing with your gp about it, thyroids are complicated things and regulate a lot of hormonal activity so it's not just pregnancy to consider but your well being too xx

Babytinx11 · 09/07/2014 14:22

So glad everything is good with you david :) I'm 5 + 2 we have pics from both my scans they don't show much but it's nice to see :) it's awesome seeing everyone getting good news :)

blankfornames · 09/07/2014 14:23

Ladies, lovely news about your scans! Maybe now, we can sit back & stay to enjoy our pregnancies!
Welcome Blue!

BlueStarsAtNight · 09/07/2014 14:27

baby did you see a heartbeat? Just wondering if I might have one by now......

Lovely news cake

joosiewoosie · 09/07/2014 14:43

Thought an update was needed. Been off here for ages, but positive developments Smile

Had my 12wk scan, saw bubs waving at us. Just a bit bigger than average, nuchal good, and all bits seen which needed to be seen.

Also had initial blood odds of 1 in 1200 which am pleased with, as am old, lardy and we had a 1 in 13 chance with DD.

Just waiting 2 wks now for Harmony results to give us a 99.5% accurate result, which will be great. (We did harmony with our mc bubs, but they couldn't detect enough fetal DNA twice), so just hoping they find enough this time!

Feeling like we passed a milestone is a relief! Will be 13w tomorrow, all being well.

Long may good news continue for everyone xx

OhTheDrama · 09/07/2014 14:48

Lovely news about the scans ladies! It's an amazing feeling seeing the heartbeat isn't it.

Congratulations Blue. It is a good catchphrase, really helps with staying positive whilst fighting the urge to knicker check constantly!

Effin I get what you mean about getting a bit obsessive and taking a step back. I've done the same and the anxiety levels are much better.

Am I weird for being very happy that I feel as sick as a dog and even a gust of wind hurts my boobs? I didn't have strong symptoms with the last one I lost in May but had very strong symptoms with both my DD's.

Psmith83 · 09/07/2014 16:19

Congratulations on scans everyone! What a lovely lot of positive posts to read today.

Blue, I repeat today I am pregnant all the time to myself too. It's the only thing that stops my mind racing!

Squiz, I took all your advice and rang Charring X hospital, my GP and EPU. Feeling confident and well-looked after. Thanks for the support. (I keep repeating your no-symptoms rationale to myself too!) (though I'm starting to get peaks and troughs of nausea(will not be fun on the drive to France...) Shock and mild backache, yay! )

So pleased for everyone. Am 5 weeks today, will keep you all in the loop with what's happening inside my uterus when I get a scan.Wink

Babytinx11 · 09/07/2014 16:36

Hi blue no didn't see a heartbeat today but the nurse that the epu said it's too early normally around 6/7 weeks she said we did see a tinie tiny dot on the screen which she said was our baby :)

EffinIneffable · 09/07/2014 17:00

Good news on the scans. I've got my first one a week today, should be 7+5 - hoping we will see a heart beat.

oh yes, wondering whether I should just try to shut off entirely. it's helpful, but also makes me hyper aware of every possible thing that might go wrong, and then convince myself it's happening to me.
I'm so nervous of thinking this pregnancy might actually work out that I'm now worried I will never get excited and connect with a baby should it actually happen, that's the extent to which I've convinced myself it's not gonna happen.

Lovely to hear news of positive scans all.

Think I'm gonna push the GP for further tests to rule in/out whether I need to be treated. Actually getting more pi*ed off now as even mild hypothyroid is associated with increased mc - and they want me to potentially go through that another two times before they think about investigating it? I don't bl*dy well think so!

fedupofrainydays · 09/07/2014 17:06

So chuffed for everyone with all this good news Grin

Been feeling very uncomfortable today. BH quite a lot which I hope isn't my body gearing for early labour but really not that regular so aren't too worried yet. And feels so tight and stretched and making me breathless at times. Coming up to 27 weeks so still an age to go and still struggling to believe I might have a take home baby at the end of this.

Hope I get the chance to be excited at some point this pregnancy... But just don't think after mc you ever can be.
