I'm 18, just recently turned 18. Ive been trying for a baby with my boyfriend, we have been planning this all for the last 6 months, this really is what we want, we have a good income (we don't currently have any benefits and we plan to not rely on them)I came off my mini pill 1 week ago, I'm having heavy bleeding now, I presume this is my period.what do I need to know, what's important. I've googled and googled but I want really advice. How long do you think it will take for me to fall pregnant etc?

Anything would help, thankyou!

Whatever age were you when you started your A Levels? If you've just turned 18 then the second year exams should be taking place right now?? With results due in August. So how have you then gone on to do a photography diploma on top? Unless that was done in last year's school holidays??? And that still wouldn't fit with already having a job.

I'm confused Confused

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 13/06/2014 15:50

Nothing seems to quite add up.

Monstamio · 13/06/2014 15:56

Unless you switched to the photography diploma after just one year of A Levels. Which would fit. But would mean you don't have A Levels/an Apprenticeship or similar. Which makes your claims about a complete education ring a bit hollow.

Funnyfoot · 13/06/2014 16:10

You worked in a pub at 15?
Collecting glasses is not very well paid OP.

Also I agree with the inaccuracies regarding your A levels/diploma.

Your home pretty quick from working in a bank and you also started pretty late too.

Or does it mean that's what time school started and finished Hmm

squizita · 13/06/2014 16:11

You were a glass washer (at 15 you couldn't be a barmaid) and consider that "well paid"?
Shock
I've worked in hospitality and loved it but had to quit because of dreadfully low pay (and I was managing shifts in comparatively well paid wedding vanues and large pubs in London over a number of years).
That isn't a well paid job. That is a 6th former's pocket money job.
Sorry to be brutally honest but I used to manage in bars.

There is no A level in "acting" BTW (I now work with 12-19 year olds, with a lot of input into post-16 advice) and under the current system you can't really do 3 A levels over 1 year and few colleges would let you do A levels consecutive with a diploma.

I am slightly concerned that your over-confidence is spilling over into exaggeration (because you don't want to lose face).
And once again... if you were 26 and telling me you earned good money pot washing I'd call you on that too.

Funnyfoot · 13/06/2014 16:14

Oh and you said you worked for a good family friend what does he do own the bank?

MoominAndMiniMoom · 13/06/2014 16:25

Agree that there's no Acting A Level.. it's either Drama & Theatre Studies or Performing Arts.

MNHQ said earlier that the OP seems genuine, but I agree that some facts in this aren't adding up. OP are you creating these jobs and qualifications to try and make it more acceptable to start a family?

Funnyfoot · 13/06/2014 16:40

I reported it too and got the same response.

I have no idea how any thing the OP has said can be genuine as it has too many non truths.

Anyway I will hide this thread and the other one as I will be in trouble for Troll hunting.

Mrsfrumble · 13/06/2014 16:58

Well, I suppose if the OP is August-born she would have taken A-levels at 17, then spent the last year doing the photography diploma. All diploma courses at Plymouth College of Art are at least one academic year long, so she'd be finishing around now, right?

Monstamio · 13/06/2014 17:00

But she said she'd "just recently turned 18". That doesn't suggest 19 in 2 months' time...

MoominAndMiniMoom · 13/06/2014 17:01

If she's just recently turned 18, she'd be in her last year of A Levels/equivalent.

MoominAndMiniMoom · 13/06/2014 17:02

Although I'm sure the next response will be that she's so super-advanced and intelligent and mature for her age, they let her do her A Levels in one year while she was working for the bank and curing cancer and bringing world peace.

Jael123 · 13/06/2014 17:12

When I was 15 it's was £5 an hour and since the bank I've been earning 9.80 an hour, I was on my break I am about to finish now so

OP posts:
Jael123 · 13/06/2014 17:13

Also I did not complete my ALevels I got half marks from that and then I finished my diploma in may

OP posts:
Mrsfrumble · 13/06/2014 17:13

I missed the "recently turned 18" bit. I've been trying to give the OP the benefit of the doubt, but even if there's truth in what she's saying it makes her insistence on getting pregnant RIGHT NOW even more baffling.

OP, if you're doing freelance photography and making money from it you are obviously exceptionally talented. As I'm sure you know, it's an extremely competitive industry and can be very difficult to attract work and earn a living, even for photographers with post-graduate qualifications and years of experience. Having got off to such a bright start, why not capitalize on it? I know you're sick of hearing it, but you DO have plenty of time to have baby, and it IS much harder to study or establish yourself in a career with children in tow.

MoominAndMiniMoom · 13/06/2014 17:16

So you don't have a great education? It's not automatically a barrier to starting a family, but combined with the rest of the facts, which still aren't adding up, it's not great. And it's the exaggeration of your qualifications which suggests that the rest of your facts may not be as factual.

Floggingmolly · 13/06/2014 17:19

So this "good education" you've got actually ended halfway through your A levels? Go back to school, dear...

Mrsfrumble · 13/06/2014 17:20

Hang on, don't you need A-levels to do arts foundation diploma? You did in my day, but I am an old gimmer (compared to OP).

careeristbitchnigel · 13/06/2014 17:30

The minimum wage for your age is 5.03p/h. I really don't believe that anyone is going to pay someone of 17 probably on an apprenticeship scheme with only "half an A level" 9+ per hour. Especially in the South West where salaries are low. Most bank staff earn about 14/15k

I doubt at the tender age of "just turned 18" that you are a supervisor

Midwifeonrun · 13/06/2014 17:34

Jael sorry to see your getting a bit of a bashing on here.

In answer to your question it's typical to take several months up to a year to become pregnant, especially if your coming off hormonal contraceptives. That said it could happen next week!
Having taken years to conceive, I would recommend using an app (think I used woman log) to record periods but just have regular sex and get on with preparing yourselves for parenthood (save money) and enjoy yourself!

Singlesuzie · 13/06/2014 17:51

You have four university offers, including one in Paris based in incompleted A levels? Confused

Jael123 · 13/06/2014 17:53

It's funny how you all think I'm lying, sorry if I'm doing better than you lot did when you was my age. I didn't do great with ALevels hence why I went on and did a diploma in photography which no you don't need ALevels for, the diploma doesn't involve exams, I got full marks on all of my projects. I did exceptionally well hence my freelance job. Get over yourselfs please haha, I know what I did at college and what I earn. Thankyou.

OP posts:
Jael123 · 13/06/2014 17:53

And no singlesuzie, based on my high marks in my diploma:)

You're a complete fantasist, love.

MoominAndMiniMoom · 13/06/2014 17:58

There we go, the inevitable "You're jealous because I'm doing better than you".

Not at all, it's just not advisable for you to have a baby if you're really living in this fantasy world.
