I don't have much information on scruff so hope she sees this to let us know how she is getting on. Also hope I haven't missed anybody off. If so let me know so I can rectify it. If any of you want to add further information such as age, children, etc also let me know.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Ladies, ladies, i found this gender predictor on the web (daft isn't it that while I definitely don't want to know what the little wriggler is, I still get excited by such gimmickry). Anyway, felt I ought to share it with you since it was accurate for my DS and my sisters DS and DD!!

Here it is - I hope!

Plus, it confirms my suspicions that there's a little brother in there for DS!

Toothache · 22/06/2004 17:05

Sooz31 - Do you put in the age you were at the time of conception?? If I put my age now it says a girl and my then it says a boy!

sooz31 · 22/06/2004 17:14

Toothache, I think you put in your age at conception? That's what I've been doing.

Toothache · 22/06/2004 17:19

Oh hell... another boy!! Won't ever have to buy hiim an item of clothing if it is a boy.... he'll be hand-me-down kid!

Turtle35 · 22/06/2004 17:37

Sooz - it says I am having a boy and I already know its a girl so can't be 100% accurate

sooz31 · 22/06/2004 17:38

Good point, same here (if it is another boy of course!)

Toothache · 22/06/2004 17:40

Turtle - My friend was told she was having a girl from a Private anatomy scan she had at 21wks..... out popped a BOY!

sooz31 · 22/06/2004 17:42

ah, yes, turtle, maybe it's only 99%?!

Bibiboo · 22/06/2004 18:06

I tried the gender prediction thing too but ahve a dilemma - I conceived the weekend of my birthday (which was a Sunday), so I was either 24 or 25 - one says girl, one says boy! I KNEW I should have asked at the scan!

Anyone tried this quiz...?
Boy or Girl quiz

Turtle35 · 22/06/2004 18:19

Oh no I don't like hearing stories like that, I have been buying pink!! I was shown the labia in the scan with two scanologists in the room, surely that must confirm it.....no?

Toothache · 22/06/2004 18:20

Turtle35 - lol, depends how many weeks you were at the scan.

Bibiboo · 22/06/2004 18:26

Turtle, Don't mean to panic you, but I know I girl who was shown a willy at her scan and now has a beautiful girl called Maia!

Bibiboo · 22/06/2004 18:28

Also, anyone else having wildly vivid and highly inappropriate dreams about gorgeous men? Hugh Jackman has been particularly good to me these last few nights ...

motherinferior · 22/06/2004 18:30

Beanibabe, can you transfer over if you decide to? Speaking as a lady who couldn't have contemplated her first birth without all the pharmaceuticals on offer?

(OK, and a lady who had a MUCH better birth at home with next one. Split personality, moi?)

piglit · 22/06/2004 18:36

Turtle - our db was being very shy at the 20 week scan (db had its legs tucked underneath and its knees together) The sonographers (there were 3 of them!) said that on balance it is probably a boy. She then went on to say that leedle girl bits are quite big and can look like a scrotum and that's why it can be hard to tell!

florenceuk · 22/06/2004 18:36

Another option is to hire an independent midwife, who could do your antenatal care and take you through to birth, either at birth centre or hospital, whatever you chose.

Turtle35 · 22/06/2004 18:38

I was 20 weeks? I guess I should cool it on purchasing gorgeous little pink dresses until she/he arrives.

piglit · 22/06/2004 18:47

I haven't bought a single thing for poor db. I turn to a pile of soppy goo when I even look at the leedle outfits!

Turtle35 · 22/06/2004 18:53

Piglit me too and I just can't stop myself, I went nuts in the Little White Company - there should be a warning on the front door!

Can I be a real bore and go back to the aromatherapy quesiton??

Is the Clairns Body Treatment Oil "Tonic" OK to use for stretch-marks? does anyone know? I just read we should stay away from rosemary and sage and they are both in this one? I have it but am afraid to use it?

piglit · 22/06/2004 19:03

I saw an advert for the White Co baby stuff - god help me when I get a chance to go there.

That Clarins stuff is fine. I bought some for stertchmarks and was told by the Clarins lady (well, young girl of about 12 ) who sold it to me that it's fine. My friends who have been pg all said they used it. A word of warning though - it makes the shower slippery than a slippy ice rink so be careful when you get in and out (and tell dh/dp to watch out as well. Ooops.)

piglit · 22/06/2004 19:09

Aaaargh... check out the White Company baby booties...

Turtle35 · 22/06/2004 19:30

I have been reading that swinging is a great way to get your little baby to sleep. Would it be better to buy a swinging crib than a moses basket for the first few months and then put the little one into a cot?

any thoughts on this?

piglit · 22/06/2004 19:44

I haven't got beyond cutie booties I'm afraid. (I will work out how to do links one of these days...)

Bibiboo · 22/06/2004 20:16

Turtle, You can buy rocking stands for moses baskets if you didn't want to splash out on a rocking crib. Don't know if they work or not, I kow I'd rather lay still than be swayed from side to side though!

beansprout · 22/06/2004 21:01

Have got back from my appt and have now transferred to the Edgware Birth Centre (although I do hear good things about the Tooting one Flo).
They are lovely and moose centred. Basically it's v quiet there and I just do what I need to do with all the support they can muster. No medics but option to transfer if I want or need to.

Am very relieved and all my instincts tell me I have made the right decision.

Right, that's the business end of things, now for some big time gooing over booties.....
