Aw shucks you guys. I am a very touched and moved (not to mention a little tearful now) Beansprout. I have come over "all unnecessary" as my mum would say.

Am at docs at lunchtime and then "working at home" this afternoon but methinks I may just be drawn into my garden instead for some quality time wiv me Bean.

Thanks you lovely, lovely people

beansprout · 24/05/2004 14:51

Piglit - have sent you a few messages, and have had a couple back but being an oversensitive, silly moose I assumed (naturally) that you were fed up with me!! DOUBLE DOH!!!!!

Sorry to be so crap (feel free to compare notes with DP at the moment!!)

xxxx

piglit · 24/05/2004 14:58

Ohmigod Beansprout - I haven't had anything from you since Monday lunchtime-ish (although I have continued to send to you) and have been soooo worried that I had upset you or said something wrong and that you were ignoring me!! I am so relieved it was the email and not me! I'll try you from my hotmail address (if I can remember it...)

xxx

motherinferior · 24/05/2004 15:11

Oh Bean, take care, darlin'. Ring me if you want to!

She truly is a Bean Queen, you know

beansprout · 25/05/2004 11:19

THE BEAN IS BACK!!!

Today my hormones have swung the other way, I am wearing maternity shirt of power and have been at work since 8 (to do all the work I frankly haven't done over the last couple of days).

Scary!

Hope you are all well

piglit · 25/05/2004 12:15

Woo hoo Beansprout! Great news.

I am in a very chirpy mood today because I'm going on holiday at the end of this week.

How is everyone else today? Blooming??

BIBIBOO · 25/05/2004 12:20

I'm feeling good today - a bit bewildered because I keep losing things, but I wouldn't go as far as "blooming" or "glowing" just yet.

Wearing v baggy crepe trousers which make me look like MC Hammer - I had visions of them looking floaty and elegant, they just look clowny!!!

piglit · 25/05/2004 12:22

LOL at clown trousers! That's exactly how I feel with the so called floaty trousers I have. All I need are some braces and a red nose...

beansprout · 25/05/2004 12:23

Lol Bibiboo - I know exactly what you mean! I have "stone" linen trousers on and I look like I am lining up for a sack race!!

I am going to stick my neck out and say I am blooming - but it could just be the chocolate croissant?

BIBIBOO · 25/05/2004 12:31

I've got a penguin in my drawer, maybe that'll get me blooming too beansprout

Still not a flicker from baby - only 18 weeks, but getting impatient now!

BIBIBOO · 25/05/2004 12:51

Just out of curiosity, how old are we all? For some reason I imagine you all to be 25 like me, having 1st baby and all as totally clueless as me!

piglit · 25/05/2004 12:52

I wish Bibiboo! I am 36 (yikes)!

beansprout · 25/05/2004 12:54

Eyelash kindly compiled a guide for us which is at the v bottom of this thread and then updated a bit further up. I am 34 and there are a few of us in our mid 30s but rest assured, us first timers are all as equally clueless as each other - age does not change this!!!

BIBIBOO · 25/05/2004 13:05

I feel far too young to be a married mother to be. I know (before you all lynch me) that 25 isn't all that young, but I feel about 18 still! Especially faced with all this responsibility. Somehow I thought I'd be a lot more grown up at 25 than I was at 20, but that's so not true! As long as age doesn't equal knowledge and capability, if that's true I'm stuffed and should wait until I'm 50 to have kids!
I'll check out the guide at the bottom ...

beansprout · 25/05/2004 13:21

I don't think age is the most important thing here. I know some fantastic parents who are a lot younger than 25 and some who are a lot older!

Dp will be 46 when Beanie arrives, and I often do the maths - "he will be x when Beanie is y" but it's just not the most important thing. As long as you are with the right person and are happy - that's the most important thing.

Perhaps that's why us older ones are feeling the movements - our stomach muscles are 10 years older and not what they were?!!!

BIBIBOO · 25/05/2004 13:27

LOL Beansprout - my stomach muscles aren't as lovely and toned as your average 25 year old, I've always been a bit soft round the middle!!!
I have a grown up job and do all the grown up stuff around the house i.e. finances, bills etc so suppose I am capable of certain levels of adultness. You're right, age doesn't really matter, it's how you feel, so I will make a positive effort to feel adult, capable, competent and thin... Will be putting a LOT of positive thought into that last one!

beansprout · 25/05/2004 13:30

I still feel like I am playing at being a grown up a lot of days. I seem to have acquired all the trimmings (job, mortgage, dsd, dp etc) but sometimes still feel like a fraud on the inside.

I think a lot of people do! My mum does and she is 61 (and a lovely mum)

BIBIBOO · 25/05/2004 13:38

Know exactly what you mean about feeling like you're "playing" at grown ups! Me and DH have been together for 8 years (married for 8 weeks!) and when we bought our house I felt like I was playing house, still do somedays, but it's taken 18 months of bills and changing the office into a nursery to get me into "this-is-real" mode.

Don't get me wrong, I love it, but look at my gran (who raised me) and she seems so much more capable and nothing phases her ... wish I could be like that. But then she's raised 4 children and 2 grandchildren, as well as years of babysitting/childminding in between so she is my info fountain!

huppa · 25/05/2004 13:44

Hi everyone
Can I join too? I´m 37, due 18th October, already have dd 17months.
I´m living in Germany and I´m a SAHM.Haven´t had time to read the whole thread, but will spend the rest of the time until dd wakes up from nap trying to get to grips with who everyone is.

BIBIBOO · 25/05/2004 13:47

Hi Huppa,

Welcome to MN, I'm fairly new too, only been on here a few weeks, but everyone is really friendly!

beansprout · 25/05/2004 13:51

piglit · 25/05/2004 14:54

Welcome Huppa. Great name by the way!

BIBIBOO · 25/05/2004 16:34

Anyone brave enough to take on the list task?

Turtle35 · 25/05/2004 17:36

Hello fellow Mooses - I had yesterday off work and my God it was fab!! Oh I can really get used to that NOT working thing.

Do I hear some of you blooming?? Not me, am still very windy and tired today. I definitely felt the bub moving around last night just as I was about to fall asleep!!

Bibiboo you will feel kicking soon enough, I am sure of it. Are you eating enough chocolate? I think that is the trick

Welcome Huppa congratulations. Is this your first?

I am not sure I can remember everyone's details but here are mine if someone wants to take a stab at our details.

Turtle - first pregnancy, married two years DH is 38 and I am 35 (is that enough or should we actaully tell each other more???)

BIBIBOO · 25/05/2004 17:51

I'm 25 years old, pg with 1st baby due 19th October.
DH is 29, married 8 weeks, together 8 years.
