Thanks guys - I'll let you know as soon as I can.

Glad it's not just me who's getting grumpy. I'm also unbelievably impatient. Ptience was never one of my strengths but I seem to be getting worse and worse. I pity my poor dh come October!!

Toots · 22/05/2004 21:55

Piglit. Thinking of you tomorrow. {{{{{ hugs {}}}}}
Oh I am SO grumpy. Then I am SO guilty.
Don't know how you commuters do it. Slogged up to town on rail and tube for fifty minute meeting, then slogged home, feel like have plodded marathon.

But I have to say, apologies to the environment, I'm SO glad I insisted on a car with air con when we bought it last autumn although I do strange not really breathing in when it's on, to save the baby from some cfcs. Always thinking, see.

beansprout · 23/05/2004 12:41

lol Toots - you wise woman you. As someone at my last workplace used to say - (points to head) "up here for thinking... (points to feet) down here for dancing".

I have gone from being Ms Invincible yesterday, on top of everything ever, to a snivelling, frumpy, fat, anxious moose.

Fecking hormones.

Nuff said.

Am thinking of you Piglit and all things Bean are crossed. Hi to Harman too, hope you are ok, where ever you are xx

BREAKING NEWS FOR FIRST TIMERS

A friend of mine who has been pregnant twice has told me that not only is it acceptable for pregnant ladies to wear their jammies all day long, it is in fact the LAW. We can even wear them to Tesco if we like! How great is that?! And why don't they tell us about it in the books?

Another thing, a question for all you been-there, done-that mummies, is giving birth like having a huge poo and will i poo myself in labour?!?! Am v worried at the thought of that - maybe curry to bring on labour isn't such a good idea after all.

miffy2 · 23/05/2004 13:01

Morning all,
was off work Friday and yesterday (not sick, just work a 4-day week, lucky old me).

I would like to joint the belching competition, please. Farts are yesterday's news, when your 2 year old DS looks at you (impressed) after a belch that rocks the house and says 'whatya say'? so I then mumble 'excuse me' and slink away...

Bibiboo, am ashamed to admit I did poo in labour second time round. I think it makes a big difference when you last ate - DD was born after 10 hours pre-labour and 7 hours labour (and no food in my tum). DS was induced so I had hospital lunch and tea and he was born (after a big poo!) at 8.36pm. Dh was kind enough to remind me last night that he has seen (and heard) every bodily function of mine now...mmm.

Piglit, thinking of you being scanned right now. Had our 18-week scan yesterday, it was brill, I can now breathe out as all is well - heart, spine, head, growth, dates, penis (doh! - yes, it's a boy!)

Talk later gels.

BIBIBOO · 23/05/2004 13:35

Oh no! Pooing in labour sounds awful - will I ever get over the shame? Not eating isn't really an option as I love food, especially curries, but I might give them a miss. I can't imagine anything worse than being in pain AND being hungry at the same time!

Also: Should I be worried about my 20 week scan? Lots of people seem scared about it, I'm looking forward to it! I know I'll have some small worries just before I go in, but on the whole I can't wait to see my baby again.

piglit · 23/05/2004 13:53

Back from scan - all fine. Yippee!!! They had a really good look at everything and measured away like mad. My dates are spot on and all the things are in the right place. What a relief! We asked if they would let us know the sex but baby was lying with knees together and legs curled up so it wasn't very easy to see. However, they said it's probably a boy from what they could see. So chuffed that it went well but my god I was a nervous wreck before hand!

I do need your advice on something oh wise mooses. I'm not going to go into work until lunchtime but wanted the go ahead from you all before I spend a morning in the garden....

BIBIBOO · 23/05/2004 14:32

GO TO YOUR GARDEN! That is an order! You will be doing the rest of us (who are stuck in work) a disservice if you don't enjoy our quota of lovely sunshine on our behalf!

Really pleased your scan went okay, just re-read what I'd written about my impending scan and realised it sounded a bit arsey, like I was thinking people who were worried were wussy or something. I didn't mean that at all!
Congrats on your probable son, any names?

beansprout · 23/05/2004 15:28

Hurrah Piglit!!! That's fab news!! Hope you are chilling out in your garden and relaxing after this morning.

Have been in a meeting, planning my own mat. cover (odd).

Turtle35 · 23/05/2004 15:48

Piglit I am so pleased for you - what a relief!! And a boy to boot, how fab, just remember there could be a possibility it's a girl so try and think of girls names too!!

I have had a stonker of a headache since my very stressful 4.00 pm conference call yesterday, didn't sleep last night so decided to take the day off - head is still pounding and am going to bite the bullet and take a paracetemol (feel guilty about it though).

So me thinks sitting out in the garden for the rest of the day is mandatory

Can't wait for my 20 week scan now. I too have been thinking of Harman, hoping all is OK? Let us know of you can?

Bean do you know how long you are going to take off after the baby is born?

miffy2 · 23/05/2004 16:18

piglit,
glad all went well with the scan, it is really great isn't it? There is definitely something in the water as it seems to be boys all round these days.

Bibiboo, don't worry about not worrying (!?) - the 20-week scan is a great date to check size, spine, etc for anomolies (sp), but it is also a great time to get a good look at babs - later scans only show you bits of the body at a time due to size.

beansprout, I have a similar mtg with my manager on Thursday - all going well I will not return to work but I can't let on as I may need to return! So I will just have to, ahem, lie.

I went and got the Floradix liquid iron to start tomorrow as I am feeling so tired and zombie-like. I never felt this tired on my other pgs but I guess two kids, a home to run and a 4-day work week do take their toll (esp when darling son wakes at 5am...)

piglit · 23/05/2004 17:00

I'm glad everyone's well today. (Sssssh - do you think we are blooming?) I really enjoyed chilling out at home this morning and did not want to come back to work. I just felt like sitting in the garden chatting to bump. Ho hum.

Turtle35 · 23/05/2004 18:03

Miffy - you are a wonder women!! Not sure I could do it, no bloody wonder you are tired!

I have had such a lovely day sitting in the garden reading, I think I felt the baby move??? I feel lots of stuff going on inside but I always put it down to wind etc. I am 17 weeks now, is this around the time I should feel it? it's my first.

Has anyone else been feeling much movement and if so what does it feel like?

beansprout · 23/05/2004 18:08

Oooh, Turtle, my current favourite subject, which I am happy to talk about as to be honest I feel very fed up and tearful today.

Sounds about right for feeling baby move. I thought it was general digestion stuff for a while until the same thing got a bit stronger and is not unmistakeably Beanie. I think it feels like a very gentle tapping, as if someone is flicking a finger or something, or little bubbles rising to the surface. Some women say it feels like butterflies but Beanie's movements aren't long/sustained enough for that to apply to me (us!)

How exciting!!

piglit · 23/05/2004 18:19

I agree with Beansprout. The movements I have felt have been like someone flicking their finger from the inside (IYSWIM). Baby had hiccups yesterday afternoon (which was bizarre to say the least) and then I got a couple of big kicks in the eveing.

Beansprout - so sorry you are feeling down? Anything particular or general pg/moose stuff?

beansprout · 23/05/2004 18:41

Thanks Piglit, 'tis all moose stuff but I think my hormones have staged a coup and I just can't get away from it. Will go home, be nice to me and watch "Cutting It" later, which will hopefully cheer me up. In the meantime I will do my level best not to tell any of my colleagues what I am actually thinking about them!

Toots · 23/05/2004 19:34

Hurray for baby piglit!

Have just got out of lovely bath. Hardly done a scrap of real work today, although spent this morning in a conference as was giving a talk about some voluntary work that I do. There was then a buffet lunch. Everyone in my workshop was supposed to sign a piece of paper, but I HAD to get into the lunch queue, so just called over my shoulder, 'bung my name down, Tracey, I've got blood sugar issues'. By the time my lot came in to queue I was waving a chicken drumstick at them. It felt fantastic.

BIBIBOO · 23/05/2004 19:41

"BLOOD SUGAR ISSUES" that's going to be my excuse for gallumping my way to the fron of food queues from now on!

Feeling left out now gals, no movements in my tummy! I get a lot of wind, so I would find it hard to distinguish flickering from that anyway. Someone told me to shine a torch on my belly in a dark room to make the baby move, but that just seems
a) silly
b) downright cruel
Can Baby H tell the difference between light and dark yet anyway?

piglit · 23/05/2004 19:51

I read in one of my (many) books that babies can tell the difference between dark and light at about 22 weeks. Before then their eyes are developing. I think they can hear from 19 weeks though so it's a good idea to talk to them so they are used to your voice and comforted by it.

beansprout · 23/05/2004 19:52

Bibiboo - agree with the torch shining on belly. I feel the same about prodding my belly as much as like to feel Beanie move about.

Good work Toots! Will remember that one! :0

Today have cried on dp, colleague at work and have had a run in with another colleague (now sorted). Think it is time I went as I am becoming a liability!!

piglit · 23/05/2004 19:56

Beansprout - go home NOW and:
1)put your feet up;
2)eat a yorkie bar;
3)have a bath;
4)watch Cutting It; and
5)go to bed at 9

beansprout · 23/05/2004 20:00

Ok Piglit, promise, thank you

Did actually ask dp to meet with me today (we work next door to each other) and I sat and cried and said "I don't want to (sniff) be one of those high maintenance (sob) pregnant women" ... with NO irony!!!! Bless him.

piglit · 24/05/2004 12:04

Hope you are feeling better today Beansprout. xx

Toots · 24/05/2004 12:11

Aww, Beansprout man, sounds like things suck at the moment. You sound like someone who is usually very much on top of their game at work, so this must be hitting you hard. I'm really sorry

You know what though, work schmirk! Tears schmears! Arguing Schmarguing! So what. They'll get over it. You've got your (lovely sounding) dp. You've got your living breathing fabulous child going on, and you will get through this. Get yourself a nice bunch of flowers at lunchtime, and tell yourself what a fabulous job you're doing. And here, have half my piece of toast and peanut butter. You're funny, caring, dynamic and lovely (yes you have given all that away) and better days are queuing up round the corner.

piglit · 24/05/2004 12:16

I agree with everything you say Toots. You are fab Beansprout.
