Eyelash - hope you have/had a lovely holiday. I agree that reading the other threads really puts my little gripes into perspective. I try to take the "my glass is half full" approach, and to be fair, so far, I am having a pretty straightforward time of it.

beansprout · 19/05/2004 11:49

PS - really glad everything was ok with your scan!

piglit · 19/05/2004 13:12

I agree with that but I do think we all realise how fortunate we are. It seems to me that pg women in general hide their bigger worries with gripes about "minor" complaints that we all suffer from. I am already worried about my 20 week scan next week and what they might find but the easiest thing for me is to have a whinge about my sneezing/heartburn/tiredness than to remind myself how fortunate I am and how terrified I am about this whole process.

Oh, and it's far too sunny to be at work. Can we go to the beach please?

beansprout · 19/05/2004 13:28

Agree Piglit, I think that is a damn good point. And of course, we can only moan about the presentable symptoms, nothing too graphic! Imagine "ooh, this vaginal discharge is shocking!!" to the next person who only wants to hear that you are blooming! Heh heh

piglit · 19/05/2004 13:37

Wonderful idea Beansprout. Or how about "I'm farting like a trooper at the moment and nearly blew the roof off the house last night. Thanks for asking."

beansprout · 19/05/2004 13:43

"We have to leave the bedroom door open for I fear that dp will succumb to gas poisoning before the night is through"?

piglit · 19/05/2004 13:56

"I can belch even louder than Barney from the Simpsons, especially after a caffiene free diet coke"

Toots · 19/05/2004 14:42

You're disgusting

I'm a big pant girl myself. Smaller ones have just started rolling themselves down - they can't take the increase in gradient.

My heartburn MUCH improved by eating before 6pm, which means my social life is much curtailed but I'm not a martyr to acid reflux.

I'm also very tired. I wasn't as tired for a couple of weeks 15-17? is that it now?

piglit · 19/05/2004 14:47

Yes Toots - it sounds like you peaked early and you're all bloomed out.

beansprout · 19/05/2004 15:09

I am exactly the same Toots, I think we are done with that radiant bit. If I had known I wouldn't have blinked and missed it

A wise person (Piglit) told me that the little people are set to have a spurt and grow a further 2 inches in as many weeks now. Could this account for our tiredness or am I talking out of my fat and windy bottom?

Turtle35 · 19/05/2004 17:08

Don't talk to me about windy bottoms!! Oh my God (she says like Janice from Friends) it's desperate, my DH (well he is just as bad) is amazed at the smell I can create!

OK enough, thanks to everyone on the knicker advice will try M&S "minis" as long as they can get around my lardy hips!

re: the complaint compartment - I am with you on that too, I am scared shi..less about the 20 week scan and some times get myself into a tizzy about what could potentially go wrong and how would I handle it bla bla - then I tell myself to get a grip and be calm.

I never glowed by the way was always spotty, tired, constipated, windy and will pretty much you name it and I had/have it. I know it will all be worth it in the end.

By the way Piglit I would join you at the beach in a heart beat if I could escape work. Ahh bliss.

Eyelash have a fab holiday you lucky thing.

One last thing - this might bring a tear to some homronal pregnant woman's eye, it's my DH birthday and I was joking with him this morning saying he wasn't getting any presents this year and he honestly said, "that's ok - you are giving me the best present in the world - a baby!" Awwww

Toots · 19/05/2004 17:46

Hilarious! Turtle - hard-heart I THINK I am, I read to near the end of your post and thought, 'hormonal'...'tears'....hope I don't disappoint her by not being moved, will say 'awwww' anyway. Then.....taps on. Tears. Awwwwww. That is LOVELY! Am filling up again ffs!!!!

Can I just say girls. I LOVE farting. Only mine of course. Did one sitting on our wooden living room floor yesterday that just ripped. DP looked appalled, dd has never looked so impressed. Have I gone too far???? I normally do.

Interesting about the spurt (such a great word that). I am signing up to that theory, and am planning to bloom through it. Wore my hair in a ponytail when I went out this morning. Felt quite perky. That's my new tip.

Only another couple of hours office girls. What you all having for dinner? I fancy fish and chips (with a salad of course)

piglit · 19/05/2004 18:02

Toots - 2 hours 29 minutes and I'm outta here. Fish and chips you say? Don't mind if I do.

Maybe we could have a Oct thread meet up and have a farting competition. I am sooo ladylike. Not.

beansprout · 19/05/2004 18:29

Can we have a belching competition too? That's my speciality. When I do a good one dp says "ooh, that's not very lady like". I sit there, belly hanging out, saying "bit late for that mate". By the evenings I look like Rab C Nesbit, only the headband is lacking (and the fag of course).

beansprout · 19/05/2004 18:31

Ooh we have really raised the tone today ladies. I hope there isn't some poor October moose out there who would like the support but who now just feels sickened by our posts!

Tomorrow we will mostly be discussing poetry - got that?

piglit · 19/05/2004 18:35

Lol @ Rab C Nesbit! Not long after I met my dh I started to meet some of his friends and he used to say "This is ***. She can do the most amazing belches". Classy chick, me.

piglit · 19/05/2004 18:36

You are quite right Beansprout. As from tomorrow we will be cultured and refined. Belch.

Turtle35 · 19/05/2004 18:36

Oh no, I really wish you didn't mention Fish and Chips, every time food is mentioned on this thread I go insane until I get it

Toots I don't think you can ever go to far on this thread especially when Bean and Piglit appear to be having a competition who can fart and burp the loudest!

I still have an hour and a half of bloody work, grrr. can't wait to leave. Have a fab weekend fellow Mooses.

beansprout · 20/05/2004 00:09

I sincerely and most humbly apologise for lowering the tone of this fine thread of ours today.

I did tell dp about my badness today and he suggested that the reason the last bit used to be called "confinement" is because we should all be locked in a room until we are fit to come out ie have stopped our windy etc etc ways. Huh!! I reminded him that we are not just virtual but are all actual meese and he should watch over his shoulder next time he goes out....

Hope you all have lovely weekends x

piglit · 22/05/2004 15:44

Morning all - I hope you all had lovely, restful weekends.

Have any of you had your 20 week scan yet? I've got mine tomorrow and I'm anxious about it (nothing new there then). How long does it take? Is there anything I should ask the sonographer? What exactly can they see?

Turtle35 · 22/05/2004 15:46

Hi Bean - I love our filthy honesty on this thread! makes my day!! I find the sun really helps when pregnant although it sucks being back at work.

Had some wine on the weekend celebrating DH's birthday (two glasses)and someone made a comment about "oh I guess you HAVE to stick to orange juice", really wound me up - why do people feel they should comment when you are pregnant??

beansprout · 22/05/2004 16:10

Turtle - I can really see me entering an angry phase where apparently I have to deal with my bump being other people's business. Have already had a "why didn't you tell me?" conversation this morning at work. Er, why should I? Because it's not about you perhaps?!

I moan about this to dp and a part of me wants us to be subjected to comments when we go away in a few weeks so he can see what it is like!

Piglit - will be thinking of you tomorrow. Anxiety seems to be compulsory in this game, but if this helps, imagine us all there, just outside the door, wishing you well and being there if you need us. What time is your appt so we know when to send the right vibes, man?

piglit · 22/05/2004 17:00

Thanks Beansprout - you are a star. My appointment is at 9.15. Do you think an extra coffee frascato would help??

beansprout · 22/05/2004 17:02

I think it is compulsory. They always tell us to have a full bladder, so a nice big frescato should be just the ticket, in fact, no, wait.... breaking news.... I think it is now the law - hurrah!!

Turtle35 · 22/05/2004 17:07

Piglit - I know this is easier said than done (believe me) but don't worry yourself, it WILL be fine, it will be so wonderful, remember how great it was the first time when you got to see your little one in action!! I remember working myself into a stupid frenzy before my 12 week scan and it all flew by so quickly that I didn't take the time to really enjoy it and let it all sink in. I think they check all of the babies internal organs and heart beat etc.

I, like Bean will be thinking of you. Please let us know straight away how everything went.

Bean I find the more pregnant I become the more cynical I become - scary!! can you imagine my grumpyness at 9 months.
