Good to hear that Dr!

right; English, hope if you had to go for an ERPC it is/was as physically pain free as possible & best of luck getting back here.

AMum, so sorry for your loss. You don't need a slap! Hopefully (well not hopefully, ifyswim) it's not an unusual condition to do a scan under so the sonographer can talk you through everything well & reassure you a little.Sorry the hospital sound so poor.

joosie, cake, moomin congrats!

Seasides, well done for shoving it on fb, we've gone public too (didn't until 20wks with ds2 so this feels weird)!

Welcome GandT, September & Sunshine*

Good luck tomorrow Tiger

Very tired here!

Seasides · 15/06/2014 22:16

Quick post from me as on my phone-can I get some reassuring stories/gurnards round the chops for this odd beginning of first trimester flat calm? I knew it would be like this, but it's quite unnerving to have no symptoms, no bump, no movement yet and allegedly be pg! Feels all very made up atm.

In other news, we bought a cot bed (!!) Off gumtree- it's way to early, I know, but we were after something quite specific and it came up cheap, so we went for it. It's in bits in the hall just now, I have blocked it out of my vision every time I walk past it!

Also, my sister had her baby! We're really close, best friends, so even though I already have loads of nieces and a nephew, this one is really special. She had a relatively easy time of it, particularly considering its her first. 9lb 5 and didn't tear! Am so proud of her.

Hope everyone's had a lovely weekend, sorry this post is all about me, find it hard to scroll back on my phone.

MrsGiraffe12 · 15/06/2014 23:03

Yay, I'm 28 weeks today so in the final trimester!!! Can breathe a little now in terms of if baby arrives he/she will stand a very good chance of survival :-)

Not such good news is my BP rose from 100/62 to 137/89 in a week even on my meds and still have +1 protien in my urine. Pretty much convinced they will confirm PET at next weeks appointment.

Still, whooping cough jab to look forward to tomorrow, oh the joys!

Glad to see the majority of us are doing well, but lots of support and hugs to those that are not doing so well x

squizita · 16/06/2014 06:49

MrsG my appointment for 28 weeks is on !Monday next week - will they just give me the jab or should I ring and ask? Seen things on boards suggesting you must ask/tell first.

Congrats to your sister Seasides ... Nice big baby there!

OP posts:
MrsGiraffe12 · 16/06/2014 07:12

squitza general advice is to have the jab between 28 and 38 weeks. I'm having mine today at 28+1 so pretty much ASAP because I'm at high risk of preterm delivery so need time for it to get to baby. As ling as you have it by 38 weeks I wouldn't worry too much. Though I'm a bit Shock you haven't had any information about when / where to get it yet. My midwife told me about it at my booking appt at 8 weeks and I've had the appointment booked for a month already. I was told you generally need a seperate appointment as the midwife does bloods at the 28 week check (can't remember why - but I've had so much blood drawn for these PET checks I feel like a pin cushion). And also, it's "just" a nurse from your surgery that will do it, at least where I am anyway. Maybe just ask your midwife at the 28 week check unless your worried about pre term delivery and maximum dies reaching baby xx

Penguinita · 16/06/2014 07:42

Just popping in to see how you are all doing. Sad to see mixed news with some losses, my heart goes out to you Flowers

I'm just feeding Elanor, she is doing well and back over her birth weight.

If there are any grads lurking can you let me know where to find the grads thread/fb page? Thanks !

DrFunkesFamilyBandSolution · 16/06/2014 08:00

Pengunita, I'll pm you about the fb grads thread!

squizita · 16/06/2014 08:05

Thanks MrsG I will ask at my next appointment as I have several booked between now and mid Aug, they should be able to fit it in! :)

OP posts:
squizita · 16/06/2014 08:08

...knowing St Marys they will do it at shorter notice because it's all 'on site'... they tend to like to make sure I wait in LOTS of queues every time I go LOL. Grin I've got the GD test this Fri... thankfully first thing in the morning! Wee pot and lucozade at the ready...

OP posts:
OneLittleToddleTerror · 16/06/2014 08:47

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Weather is a bit rubbish here but at least I had a nice break from stressful work. I was looking at the outlook calendar again longingly this morning counting the weeks. Hmm

amum sorry to hear you are feeling rubbish. Have they prescribed anything for your UTI yet?

MrsG third trimester, yay. I'm hoping to get there soon myself. Only 2 weeks to go!

squizita I got a letter through the mail telling me to book for the whooping jab cough. It seems worryingly that you will be having your 28 week appointment next week and have heard nothing. I think my pamphlet says to have it between 28 and 32 weeks. (I remember it's a month window because I worked out the dates before ringing the clinic). Can you ring your midwife and ask before Monday?

seasides sorry forgot how many weeks are you and I can't find you on the stats. It's never too early to start buying if you feel comfortable with it. It's better to get things out of the way instead of having last minute panic. I think we tend to be a bit jittery on this board. And I'm one of them. We still haven't done anything yet at 26 weeks except taking some boxes down from the loft. We need to clear out the guest room and move DD into it. And only after that I can get a new cot mattress in the existing cot bed (DD is sleeping in it currently).

squizita · 16/06/2014 09:04

One yeah I will, I have several appointments per month and am on 'mixed care'. I've just checked in my pregnancy book at they say 37 weeks not 32 ... I wonder if it varies place to place? The regular appointments mean I usually get given letters at the appointment for next time, rather than being posted anything: however I have had issues with the local MW assuming the hospital will do things before so might ring her (she assumed they would do routine UTI checks for example).

OP posts:
MrsGiraffe12 · 16/06/2014 09:27

squitza I had the GD test last week (or was it the week before? I forget). Was fine but I hate lucozade so felt rather sick after having it! Good luck xx

MrsGiraffe12 · 16/06/2014 10:08

squitza just to add, take some snacks with you for after the appointment as you will likely be starving if you've had to fast from midnight like i did x

aMuminwaiting · 16/06/2014 10:17

I'm on antibiotics for the second time in three weeks. I tried calling GP this morning about the pelvic pressure and pain when peeing. She said call EPU who said it all sounds normal. I explained that I'm worried mainly that my cervix is already giving up and the suture isn't until 30th. She said they don't check that anyway and to wait until my scan wednesday. She said I should only go in before if I'm bleeding but bleeding was my only sign last time that my cervix had given up and by then it was all too late. So I said oh right they'll check my cervical length Wednesday then? No, that's specialist and has to be requested by my gynaecologist. I'm hoping that as the suture is at St Marys they will have been checking my cervix but they've never mentioned it at any of the scans, only baby measurements and last time was mainly focusing on the dead twin. I've emailed them to ask if they can just reassure me that my cervix is being checked as I am now getting really quite worried. Crampy, low back ache, pressure in uterus when I stand, lots of cm, all could be normal at this stage but it could also not. Arrrggghhhhhhhhh.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 16/06/2014 10:55

squizita I had a look at the NHS page on this
www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/whooping-cough-vaccination-pregnant.aspx

^When should I have the whooping cough vaccine?

The best time to get vaccinated to protect your baby is between 28 and 38 weeks of pregnancy, with between 28 and 32 weeks the ideal time.

You can still have the vaccine after 38 weeks but this may not protect your baby from whooping cough, as your body might not have enough time to produce the antibodies before your baby is born. However, being vaccinated after 38 weeks will help protect you from whooping cough and from passing it on to your baby.^

I assume that's why my clinic/trust asked us to book between 28 and 32 weeks. It takes time for the antibodies. DD was born 37 weeks so 38 would be far too late! And 37 is full term as well, so makes no sense to delay till that long.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 16/06/2014 10:56

And yeah from what you are saying your booklet telling you 37 weeks, the cut off must varying from trusts to trusts.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 16/06/2014 10:59

squizita good luck with the GTT. I had mine last week and I fasted from midnight. It's awful because I'm the type who can't go hungry. I have to get DH to drive me to hospital because I felt just so rubbish without food. We had an appointment at 9:50 but because I had to wait 2 hours between two blood samples, I didn't get out till after 12. We went to an indian buffer afterwards Grin.

amum I asked the midwife about pelvic pressure as I was worried about cervix giving in too. But given your history I thought they'd take your more seriously! Mine just told me that it's not a worry unless I'm also having contractions.

squizita · 16/06/2014 11:06

One I strongly suspect that because they are pro-vaccination (which is fine by me) they kind of say "oh, and would you like the vaccine" without weeks to stew over it! Not a problem as I am pro anyway.

OP posts:
squizita · 16/06/2014 11:17

...just got an email to clarify. It's the many layers of the NHS at work. The hospital told my local MW to tell my GP (so who knows which grumpy receptionist has it on her desk?) about whooping cough.

Will just ring the GP this week and get a non-emergency appt, speed everything up a bit.

TBH I'm starting to regret being downgraded to 'mixed care': it seems to be perfectly logical in the hospital OR in the local centre, just anything where they write one to the other is a pain.

Morning all.
Spoke to EPU today and am booked in for my early scan when I am 6+4/6+6 ( I am going on holiday the following week so they let me bring it forward a bit).

I'm 4+2 today by LMP but 4+0 by ovulation. Had a panic at the weekend with some light brown spotting but I think it was because we had sex that morning and it might have been implantation? I tried to see it as a good thing because I've never had that before and therefore not implanted before (all MC before 6 weeks). Also, my tests are still getting darker and ive been feeling a bit sicky now and then.

Fingers crossed. Only 18 days to go for scan. x

Davidtennantmistress · 16/06/2014 12:40

can I join please? i'm so scared. I had a bfp (CB digi 1-2 weeks) fri, and another (2-3) wks today. IB bleed was two weeks ago today.

this is my fourth pregnancy this year (going back to this time last year) incl a d/c at 8 weeks in sept.

I'm so scared it will go wrong again. I have vaginal bacteriosis or something or other, my doctor said she wouldn't treat it when dix in jan as it would return and would treat when bfp, however doctor today says there's no link with vb and miscarriage. likewise he won't do any homrone tests for progesterone specifiallcy. I could cry. gyne apt for refferal is next month, so planning to keep it just in case this one fails as well. hopefully though the increased hormones is a good thing?

i'm currently taking royal jelly iron and pregnacare daily. hoping it is a sticky one as not sure I can go through another m.c again. This is the first month i've ovulated in god knows how long (as bloods showed I wasn't)

hopefully will get to know you all, but for now will linger by the door.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 16/06/2014 12:51

dtmistress so sorry you have gone through 4 MCs in a year. I find most GPs useless tbh wrt to miscarriages, pregnancies and breastfeeding. I don't think they get much training in it at all.

However, I believe it's pretty universal in the NHS that you should be referred to a specialist after three recurrent miscarriages. I'm not sure if they can do anything while you are pregnant, but it's something at least you could ask for.

Davidtennantmistress · 16/06/2014 13:11

thank oltt, i've finally got my refferal, after a long six months of waiting; typically it's next month lol. just hoping this one sticks so it's not needed.

SeaSaltMill · 16/06/2014 13:18

Sorry you have been through so much but also glad you are here and fingers crossed this one is a sticky.

I am on my fourth pregnancy too, but luckily have seen the recurrent miscarriage clinic so have been given progesterone.

How far along are you?
