I get the What to expect when you're expecting updates. They tell you the size of your foetus compared to fruit or veg which always made me chuckle!

vallinnapod · 17/12/2014 10:03

I quite like the Babycentre ones. I also had the Baby bump app with DS which gave you (very American) daily and weekly info. Also the fruit comparison to the baby's size which always amused me!

Well, waters have gone ShockGrin Had several contractions to begin with and now nothing. MW been and gone. Baby's head is still quite free. Am bouncing on my ball in an effort to get her down. I have 24 hours before they will forcibly evict otherwise! Eeeeek!

nobeer · 17/12/2014 11:57

ShockShock O M G!!
I think you're going to beat me! Good luck Val, I'm thinking of you and hope she comes out safe and sound (with as little intervention as possible Smile)

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 17/12/2014 14:31

OMG Val! Hope you have a lovely easy sneeze birth Smile

nobeer · 17/12/2014 17:33

Were you doing this Val?!

vallinnapod · 17/12/2014 17:52

PMSL! I am a little disappointed it appears to be slower than DS Hmm. Contractions started about 13:30. Currently 2mins 40 apart and lasting 38 sec (there is a great free app called 'Full term' for monitoring them....could do without knowing I have had 89 so far......)

MW been and gone again. She wants the contractions to be longer. Told to call her back when I feel like I need to get in the pool/they are unbearable.

I never had proper contractions with DS so maybe that is the case...or I am too relaxed. Knitted the baby another hat.....! Did think I would be snuggling by now, based on past performance!

MuddyWellyNelly · 17/12/2014 20:57

Ooh Val hoping you have baby snuggles soon. How exciting Grin.

Thanks for the website recommendations, I will go and educate myself on my raspberry.

vallinnapod · 17/12/2014 23:51

She arrived at 21:10, weighing in at 6lb 4ozs. All went to plan at home, although all those liars who told me 2nd babies are quicker and easier are liars who will burn at a later date GrinGrin

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 18/12/2014 08:07

Congratulations Val GrinGrinGrin
What lovely news, hope you have had a some sleep and are enjoying lots of newborn snuggles with your little girl Flowers

Might be a Christmas baby at this rate Xmas Grin

vallinnapod · 20/12/2014 18:52

How you doing nobeer?

All good here. I am probably over doing it a bit as physically all good. The tiredness is building and this evening i feel a little as if I am coming down with something.

DD going from strength to strength. She's a total guzzler so feeding is going great (although I don't remember my nipples feeling this sore last time Confused)

Out for dinner tonight Smile Making the most of a mobile baby (and keen in laws!!)

nobeer · 20/12/2014 21:26

I'm so pleased everything is going so well for you , Val. Still no news from me. Think I'll be induced on Monday.

vallinnapod · 21/12/2014 12:15

Awh, you'll be snuggled for Christmas! X

MuddyWellyNelly · 21/12/2014 15:45

Best of luck Nobeer. Not long now hopefully!

Val take it easy Smile. But well done getting out; of course, you're an old hand now! How is DS enjoying his sister?

Had my private scan today at 8+5. Despite the constant worry, everything was perfect including the size, bang on for the date. Bean was moving about and limb buds waving. I'm relieved of course but still symptomless and disbelieving. Our NHS scan is at 12+2 which is in 3.5 weeks. I think we're going to wait it out.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend

nobeer · 24/12/2014 01:54

My baby girl was induced yesterday! She's gorgeous and we're getting lots of cuddles. Hopefully be discharged from hospital tomorrow. Merry Christmas to you all xxxx

vallinnapod · 24/12/2014 08:54

Happy, happy Christmas nobeer!! What fantastic news. The cuddles only get better Grin

Lots of love to you all xxx

vallinnapod · 28/12/2014 18:56

I hope you have all had lovely Christmases.

Nothing topped my early present - except maybe DS being fabulous and really appreciative of all his pressies (well, as much as a 3 year old can be!)

How are you getting on nobeer?

DD is going from strength to strength. She was discharged from MW care today. She's gained her birthweight back plus 7ozs - up to 6lbs11! None of which surprises me as she is a guzzler! Last night she ate pretty non-stop from 2am until midday!!

nobeer · 29/12/2014 11:23

Hi Val. We got home on Christmas day and we haven't really stopped what with grandparents visiting, sorting out bureaucracy eg to see drs, register birth, get her a passport so we can all move together in February! It's a bit stressful and not made easier by government offices being closed over Christmas hols. Which also delays my midwife appointment too! I'm trying to go with the flow but have moments worrying and feeling a bit overwhelmed. When I've got my baby in my arms it all feels worth it! She's very cute and cuddly.

vallinnapod · 29/12/2014 21:02

Sounds full on. We completely over did it with visitors - sort of pleased as they are mainly 'out of the way' (meant in the nicest possible way) but I have had several moments where I have had to stop myself screaming "GIVE ME MY BABY BACK!" to well meaning friends/relatives and possibly a little hormonal cry over it.

Feeling overwhelmed it totally normal. I remember with DS, laying awake in bed crying because I was scared he would feel sad/lonely/afraid and there would be nothing I could do about it. I have had moments like this with DD too.

Still to register DD....plus getting her passport sorted so we can visit my brother soon.

Just remember (and I wish someone had drilled it home to me with DS) they only need cuddles/love - along with food, warmth etc. I spent far too long worried a very small DS was bored etc. which just doesn't happen until much, much later!

Turquoisetamborine · 29/12/2014 21:25

Congratulations Nobeer and Val!! Glad all seems to be going well. You have both worked hard and waited so long for these babies, now just enjoy them.
I'm 20+4 now and all going great. Can't wait to be where you are. Still can't believe how lucky I am.

vallinnapod · 30/12/2014 11:30

Turq I found the first 20 weeks the slowest...the second half sped by!

Twinklestar2 · 15/02/2015 19:16

Congratulations val and nobeer! Enjoy your baby girls Smile
