Yes sorry res the anxiety never quite leaves. I got into a state the other day because I googled something. I'm not even going to tell you what I googled in case you go and google it and get worried too! Maybe a good idea to ask about changing where you're popping the progesterone. It is famous for causing cervical erosion. I never had blood as such, but often had pink seepage, iykwim. Is seepage even a word? I can't even think straight today. Apols for bizarre ramble!

eurochick · 21/05/2014 18:34

I agree with the back door suggestion. I moved to that when I started bleeding in the first tri to make sure that the pessaries were not aggravating it. I'm a bit squeamish about poo stuff so had to use latex gloves, but found it problem free that way.

resipsa · 21/05/2014 19:59

Thanks for the reassurance guys, it's just that it's what the clinic told me in December and it wasn't the cause of the bleeding Sad. I've been on the pessaries 3 times for a minimum of 3 weeks and never had a problem,
It's really very similar in terms of timing and amount.
Maybe it's just not meant to be for me.
If it goes on, think I'll ask for a scan on Sat at 6 wks 1 day. That should be sufficient for them to tell me if it's viable or not.
Oh God.
Only ray of hope is increasing 'symptoms' and absence of pain. In Dec, I remember 2 days after the bleeding started aving to go back to the car while Xmas shopping so I could lie flat as my back was so sore. No pain so far..,
Think I'll leave you guys for a bit, this is just too depressing all round.
Hope you all do OK over the next few days.

vallinnapod · 21/05/2014 20:10

Res hugs. I can only sympathise. No bleeding here but I have been really crampy for nearly a week now. Symptoms have got much milder to. So, so hard not to worry.

Ferreroroche123 · 21/05/2014 20:35

res hugs.

Let us know how you are doing over the next few days. We are keeping all crossed for you.

eurochick · 21/05/2014 20:36

res I know that every day feels like a week at this stage. If a scan at 6+1 would reassure you then ask for it - 6+1 is when my clinic does them as standard.

nobeer · 21/05/2014 21:22

res please come back and let us know how you're getting on. Like ferrero I've got everything crossed for you. xx

BeetlingAbout · 22/05/2014 10:30

Thinking of you, Res. I would definitely arrange that early scan, the uncertainty is torture. x

Update : bright red and plentiful bleed today. Waiting in EPU for confirmation (as I expect) that this is it. Devastated is an understatement and wishing I'd held off testing for another week.

Ferreroroche123 · 22/05/2014 12:14

Oh res sorry to hear that. It ain't over til it's over.... Let us know how it goes.

Sending hugs.

vallinnapod · 22/05/2014 12:30

Oh Res huge hugs. I really hope it is nothing hugely sinister.

Beetle I am not sure I ever asked how your stitch went? Blush

eurochick · 22/05/2014 12:51

Oh balls res. I hope you are ok. Bleeding doesn't always mean it's over, but I know how worried you must be. Thinking of you.

resipsa · 22/05/2014 14:12

Out of the woods for now. No obvious cause of bleeding but one baby seen with heartbeat looking like 6 weeks (which I'll be tomorrow).

FUCKING HELL, I can't cope with this for the next 7.5 months.

Ferreroroche123 · 22/05/2014 14:27

Yay! For on track baby today!

Listen res, we are all willing you on.

Get those cyclogest up your butt and get those feet up!

Lots of causes for bleeding... Mine was an sch and was so much blood I thought it was illogical for bubs to be ok, but he is!

Hoping that you have a strong bean in there.

resipsa · 22/05/2014 14:32

Thanks. While waiting I convinced myself that I was cramping etc but it's all disappeared now! Glad I have a job where I can just walk out and not go back for 3 hours!

Res, that is such a relief - i have been furiously refreshing this page waiting for your news! So pleased for you that all is ok. Have they arranged a follow up scan?

OP posts:
Ferreroroche123 · 22/05/2014 14:54

Yes, is some comfort. I understand how all consuming it is when you have bleeding in the first trimester.

Really hoping the bleeding eases quickly.

Do you have a repeat scan booked?

resipsa · 22/05/2014 14:59

I had arranged one at the clinic for 27/5 but that's our (14th!) anniversary and TBH if it's bad news then I don't want to be reminded of it on that day every year so think I will stick with 2/6 as I'll be 7 weeks
and 3 days by then.

FWIW, very impressed by St Mary's (Manchester) EPU. A lot more bloody helpful than the lot I've paid nearly 20,000 to over the last year.

eurochick · 22/05/2014 15:10

Phew! And hurrah for the EPU.

Like FR I also had a sub-chorionic haematoma (located on my second EPU scan after I had been bleeding for a week and a half). I had heavy red blood and cramps. It was an awful time. The first tri in general is just dreadful.

Badhairday76 · 22/05/2014 15:34

Phew Res - so relieved for you xxx

vallinnapod · 22/05/2014 15:56

Brilliant news Res - I swear this makes all the follicle size/lining thickness/number of eggs collected and fertlised mentalling look like bugger all!

resipsa · 22/05/2014 16:08

Smile to you all.

Thank God for you, too - imagine if I had to keep it all to myself? I'd implode!

BeetlingAbout · 22/05/2014 16:35

I am glad it's good news, Res. I really hope that the next few weeks are kind to you in the run up to the next scan.

Vall, you're right. Despite never, ever wanting to do another fresh cycle of IVF again, aside from the 2ww, it was easier on the nerves (and over a lot faster!).

Thank you for asking about the stitch. I had it placed last wednesday under GA, which was a big relief as i had been expecting a spinal. Afterwards the consultant told me my cervix was opening from the outside and mucus plug was coming out, so it was definitely the right thing to do. It bloody hurt for a day or two, but back to normal now.

I saw the consultant yesterday at my local hospital and they have basically told me i won't get any extra scans. It was such a shock. I am changing my care to chelsea and westminster and i just hope they will check me more often. The consultant has said i can join the preterm clinic if i get a referral from my GP. Hmm

Which hospital were you under Beetling? That is shoddy not offering any more checks if they saw your cervix opening and put a stitch in.
