Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Quackers · 07/07/2004 00:07

Yep, this is it for all of us. I'm sure I'll going on to August though. I've had very sore boobs for the past couple of days and BH's are strong but this lasted 3-4 weeks with my first so expect this to be the same. Head not engaged, as expected. They reckon I'll be in labour or just before but head very low otherwise. MG, great to hear from you!!!!! It's really exciting now. Freddiecat must be well on her way. It doesn;t seem very long ago we were all announcing our pgcies, now we're actually having them!!! I held a newborn today. Thought I'd be all fingers and thumbs but it's so like riding a bike! I loved it, all came flooding back!!

Hi there.... I just posted this on the August thread, but no-one is about... anyone here?

OMG!
I think I just had a show!!!!
WARNING - GROSS DESCRIPTION COMING UP.....

I went to the loo for a pee and after I'd wiped and pulled up my HUUUUUGE maternity pants my back felt wet! So I pulled them back down and looked at my back in the mirror...... the was a chunk of gunky stuff stuck to my back! It didn't have blood in, it was just mucus like gunk!

What d'you think girls?? I haven't phoned the hospital coz it's quite far away, I don't want them saying I'd best go in.... just for them to poke around and send me home. I am just going to see what happens over the next few days.

How soon can you get a show before labour starts? All the books seem to contradict themselves, but I read in one that it could still take 2 wks to go into labour. Now THAT would be perfect.... but I'm only 35wks at the mo and it's a bit early. I don't know whether to be excited or worried! HELP!

Toothache · 07/07/2004 01:46

burrrrrrrump!
Got to log off in a minute... anyone any advice on what I should do ?

fairydust · 07/07/2004 01:53

toothache hope u r ok - if i were i would phone the hospital and see what they say.

With it being your second things can move rather quickly and at 35weeks it's best to be save then sorry.

Toothache · 07/07/2004 01:57

I know you're right, but unless we go into full scale labour panic mode and get my Mum to drive 25 miles to my house.... to take us the 18 miles to hospital with DS in tow, then I can't really get to the hospital.

I'm not having any twinges or anything. I think I'll wait until the morning and go in when it's more convenient...

God can you tell it's my 2nd???? If this was my first I'd be a the hospital demanding they admit me!

fairydust · 07/07/2004 02:07

just remember to be sensible and all should be ok - hope everything goes ok for and baby bump stays in a little longer.

your probly right they will only send you home again -

i tend to panic for people

Toothache · 07/07/2004 11:54

Thanks Fairydust.

Nothing else has happened since the show. I eventually phoned the hospital and they said it definitely sounded like a show, but not to worry as long as I'm not leaking any waters or bleeding. She asked about my last labour and I told her I'd had a show about 2 or 3 days before labour started and she replied "Oh well we might see you over the weekend then!!". She sounded all excited, but I asked her if it was not a bit early. She said that it's not too early and the baby would be fine..... he/she just seems to be in a hurry.

Might be beating some of you July girls to the post.

MarmaladeSun · 07/07/2004 12:31

Hi Toothache. How exciting!!! I keep checking every time I go to the loo as I have had no sign of a show yet (even though rationally I know that I may not get one and if I do I may well not notice it). Babe would be ok at 35 weeks, don't worry. It would really only be 2 weeks early as they class term as 37 - 40 weeks anyway. Well, I had my curry last night which was so hot I couldn't talk afterwards as my lips were numb. And guess what? Nothing, nada, zilch! Am hoping for a delayed reaction. Keep us informed Toothache, and good luck

sweetkitty · 07/07/2004 12:35

Just followed you from the August thread toothy mad the hospital thinks it's a show as well. You are so going to beat me to it

Try and keep us posted I'll be thinking of you all weekend now. I can't have the baby for at least another 3 weeks now, haven't got a thing packed, poor wee thing hasn't got a bed yet and still don't have a car to actually get me to hospital.

Jzee · 07/07/2004 12:36

Just to say Good luck to all the soon to be mums out there! I had my first baby in July last year and I can't imagine life without him

MarmaladeSun · 07/07/2004 12:50

(Desperate attempt to keep mind otherwise occupied)...SO, where is everybody from? I'm sure somewhere on here you've all already had this discussion but as I'm a latecomer (let's hope DD isn't going to follow suit) I probably missed it. Here's a bit about me:- I'm living in Ipswich, married with 2 children (DD 9 and DS 7), 2 stepchildren (DSS 16 and DSD 15) and 39 weeks pg with another daughter. Not working as we have recently moved from Germany to UK with forces, but am studying for a diploma in hypnotherapy and psychoanalysis. Oh, and I'm 35. Who's next?

littlerach · 07/07/2004 13:08

Hi, Marmaladesun, I am in Wilts, trying to move house before giving birth!! DD is 3, she was 5 wks early, I am now 36 wks so feel I am late!!! Have dsd 11, and dss 9 who has CP.

Had back ache last night, worried a little, then went to sleep!! Always seems to happen that it's a Thursday when I think something will happen!

fairydust · 07/07/2004 14:44

toothache -glad you are ok - i was thinking about you when changing dd's nappy at 3.15am.

LEWEI · 07/07/2004 16:12

Good luck to you all. My little one was born in Feb and at 19 wks has put on 5 1/2lb and has grown 14cms, she is a pleasure and a joy. It was all worth it but i am glad it is over (till next time).
Quackers, i am so glad you are well, it doesn't seem that long since we were going through such sad times. My thoughts and prayers are with you and all due to give birth.

Celou · 07/07/2004 17:52

Hi guys, not long now!!! Are you drinking raspberry leaf tea? It doesn't seem to help me very much. My mum's coming to see me next saturday from France and I'm due on Monday. I cannot afford to be late as she's only staying a fortnight to start with.
I'm having to have regular scans/CTGs at this stage as they found that the amniotic fluid had reduced a little. Everything else is fine (baby's growth etc...) but they have asked me if I thought my waters broke.
I don't think so, do you guys think I could miss something like that? (it's my first baby).

Celou · 07/07/2004 17:59

How can you tell the difference between the waters breaking and vaginal discharge?

babysteffee · 07/07/2004 18:43

Good luck everyone whose babes are due this month!!

babysteffee · 07/07/2004 18:44

Slow waters breaking will soak a sanitary towel in approx. half an hour... other than that you just have to wait it out I think.

MarmaladeSun · 07/07/2004 19:07

Hi Celou. I'm drinking raspberry leaf tea every day; can't really say whether or not it's doing anything as I have been having lots of tightenings etc, but even if it doesn't induce labour isn't it supposed to make the uterus work more efficiently? Any little helps I say. I thought my waters were leaking and called the midwife, who tested me with a cotton bud looking thing; if it turns black it's amniotic fluid she said. It didn't change, although she said there was definately something there and just to keep my eye on it. God the indignity of childbirth!!!

MarmaladeSun · 07/07/2004 19:08

HAs anyone heard from Spring Chicken by the way? She's due next weekend too.

Toothache · 09/07/2004 19:26

Hi all,

Still here! No more indications that baby is on the way, although I'm getting lots of cramping pains. I've started my RLT to spur things along. Good luck to you all!

karen01 · 10/07/2004 02:00

Good luck to all of you.

Celou · 10/07/2004 14:54

Guys, are you ready for this?
I think I'll be giving birth by the end of the week.
I went back for a scan and CTG this morning and the dopplers were normal, everything else was fine, baby's heart was perfect etc...
However they found that the amniotic fluid has reduced again. So I've got to go back on thursday for another CTG, and then the clinic where they gonna arrange a date to induce me. I'm scared.

carwillin · 10/07/2004 15:28

Celou - v. scary but at least you know when it's going to happen. Kind of exciting really

I've been having period type pains since 6pm last night and since 8:30 this morning they have been every 35-45 mins. Not sure if this is the real thing (1st Timer) or just BHs as the pain isn't bad and it only lasts about 15 seconds. What do people think? No show or waters yet either.

HelloMama · 10/07/2004 15:32

I'm now 37 weeks and a first timer and I too have been having wierd sensations, not pains exactly, but kind of like low grade period pains. I woke in the night and thought I was in labour for real and s* myself and then couldn't sleep for hours! is this normal???
