Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I can't wait to start nesting but I still (in theory) have 3 days left at work.

I have had loads of contractions. I understand that false alarms and really strong BH are very common with third and subsq pgs. This morning however I had the show and whilst I know it can still be weeks until it develops into labour with my DS I had the show in the early evening and had him by the following morning.

So I have brought a towel with me today just in case my waters break in a meeting or some other embarrasing place.

Can't wait to hear from Freddiecat.

Sounds like it might be you next though MarmaladeSun - all sounds like it's gearing up. As it's my fifth labour (including the 2 mcs) I am expecting it all to happen very quickly when it actually kicks off. It's 6 years since I have done this too (not inc MCs) but I'm bizarely looking forward to remembering what it was like?!How is the leaking?

GO CHICKPEA!!! I went into labour the day after my show. Good luck!

Marmaladesun has been awfully quiet today.......

littlerach · 04/07/2004 17:10

I'm all excited now, cp.

Sure I read on another thread that Freddiecat's had all died down, not sure...

MarmaladeSun · 04/07/2004 17:35

Hiya. Still here sadly. Chickpea, this is my fifth pregnancy too; I too lost 2 pregnancies inbetween my 2 children and this one. The last one was pretty horrendous; I was miscarrying during the long drive back to Germany from UK and was rushed in to hospital within 12 hours of being back. Haemmorhaged pretty badly and needed blood transfusions, but fell quickly with this one. I too am hoping that the previous 4 pg mean that things will happen pretty quickly.
The leaking stopped (weirdly). I called the mw out on Friday night, and she said she didn't think it was my waters but she couldn't be sure. Anyhow, by Saturday that had stopped. When I woke this morning DH asked me if I slept well, and I nearly bit his head off as I hadn't woken all night!!! How sad is that? I was disappointed NOT to have been woken in pain!!! Having said that I went to have my hair cut today, and a few times I had to stop mid sentence due to incredible tightenings and accompanying pain which, I am very happy to say, haven't died off. Just got back from mw who said that the head is 4/5 engaged...not much I know but it still means she is heading the right way. I've been quiet today as I've been busy cleaning. Like you with the ironing Lupe, this is most unlike me! I hate housework. Anyway, that's all my news for now. Chickpea, you know after saying that I will be next I am bound sure to go 2 weeks over and be induced don't you? . Right, gonna go and watch Eastenders (recorded) and have a cuppa before DD and DS come home. Take care all. X

HelloMama · 04/07/2004 17:47

Hi! Can i join this thread? I'm due on 27 July and its my first baby. I live in London but am currently down in Devon visiting my parents (without DH) and am panicking everytime i have a BH just in case its the start of something! Luckily I go back home tomorrow.

I've had a good pregnancy but I'm getting impatient and just want to meet baby now, so I can understand how excited you all are!

SpringChicken · 04/07/2004 17:57

Back Again Sounds promising Chickea.

Has midwife appt. thsi morning - said head is as engaged as it is going to get before actually being in labour. Stomach is measuring to term which is a bit of a worry - i knew this baby would be big but Blimey........... i'm 38+3.

Got to go back on Tuesday when she will book me an appt. at hospital for them to give me a date for induction.........t'riffic.

One good thing though, when she was measuring my belly she stopped and asked if i had felt something - said no, as i hadn't felt a thing, she said i had a contraction as she could feel my stomach tightening - Reassurring to know something is actually happening down there as i could not feel a thing, thought i was imagining that i had been pregnant for the last 9 months .

Where's Freddiecat's announcement or has it all slowed down now?? Where's Popsycal, she'll know.

MarmaladeSun · 04/07/2004 19:12

Hi Spring Chicken. Good to see you can still get on line. . I'm measuring term too; I've been consistently 2 weeks bigger than I should be throughout. My first was 8lb and my second 9lb so I'm really hoping that this one doesn't follow suit and turn out to be a 10lber!!!! Anyway, the race is on! .

MarmaladeSun · 04/07/2004 22:13

Hi again. Just an update incase I don't get the chance later. I've been in quite considerable pain most of the day, and whereas the pains were coming seperately from the tightenings before, now they're coming together which bloody hurts but gets me quite excited (doesn't that sound weird?) While I was doing tea tonight, I had to stop several times and grip the worktop until they passed, so fingers crossed that this is the start of it. Bet I'm still here tomorrow now! LOL

Quackers · 04/07/2004 23:41

Good luck Marmaladesun and Chickpea!!!!!!!!!!

I had my scan. We could hair on it;s head!!!! I am worried though as she couldn;t get a proper view of the head and it measured 39.2 and I'm only 36 weeks exactly!! I have to just hold on till tommorow as I see the consultant. I'm hoping for some reassurance on that. Tummy was a week behind, so this is one out of proportion baby at the moment! Hopefully they'll scan again, but god that head!!

LOL Quackers. These babies have rules of their own don't they? Well, as you can see I'm still about, although deffo feeling 'different'. Pains continued until I went to bed last night, and this morning I woke up feeling quesy and have a dull pain in my back again so we'll see what happens when I walk the kids to school. sigh. These last few weeks really drag.

Thanks Twigs!!! Great to hear from you! Hope all is well!!!!!
Managed to see the consultant, thank God as he is fab. Showed me all the measurements and he said the head is normal for a baby anywhere between 33 and 39 weeks, so that's fine. He wants to rescan though at 39 weeks, to make sure growth still ok, so I'm pleased with that. Panick over. Thought I had a miniture gorilla in there!!

MarmaladeSun · 05/07/2004 18:52

Quackers...the time to panic is when you think you have a full size gorilla in there! Feels like it sometime. Can't believe it's July tomorrow. WOOHOOOOOO; hopefully someone will get us started off from the July board. Doesn't look like it'll be me though as nothing is happening today. How's everyone else's aches and pains? Any signs from anyone else?

Lupe · 05/07/2004 19:30

No signs from mine yet - but at just coming up to 37 weeks that's fine with me, I've still got a few deadlines to meet . Know what you mean about the full size gorilla, Marmaladesun, make that full size contortionist gorilla with extra arms, legs and hiccups !

Lupe · 05/07/2004 19:31

My phantom twin must be posting too

chickpea · 05/07/2004 20:10

Hello all - I'm still hanging in there too. Still at work but I think that I might call it a day after tomorrow depending on how I feel.

MarmaladeSun - I think you and I are experiencing the same thing. With 5 pregnancies I think it is really common to have false starts as the muscles contract so strongly even with just BH. Hang in there and eat pineapple.

No news on freddiecat - wonder what is happening.

carwillin · 05/07/2004 20:59

This is my first pg and I'm 38+3, I've been having strange feelings since Monday. It started with a tightening all over my bump but no pain, yesterday it was like period pains very low down which lasted about 5-10 seconds and today NOTHING!

Are these BH type feelings or is my body getting itself ready. My DH keeps phoning me up and asking if I've had the baby yet coz he's bored at work...

MarmaladeSun · 06/07/2004 00:27

Hi Chickpea. Yes it does sound like we're having a similar time of it. All day I had nothing to speak off...usual discomforts etc but then tonight now for about 2 hours I've had excrutiating waves of pain at the base of my back again along with tightening at the front. All the time DH is saying 'Look, look, watch this goal' to me, as if I care about the football!!! LOL. Also I've noticed that my boobs are really hurting today and my usual crop of pre-period spots have showed up; not had those since I was about 4 months pg! Still, no pain no gain and all that. Good luck all.

littlerach · 06/07/2004 10:56

So.......todays the day, who will be the first....come on July babies, out you come!!!!!!

MarmaladeSun · 06/07/2004 17:17

Hi Littlerach. I'm trying, honest I am!!! I've been stop-start for the last couple of weeks, and I'm exhausted by it. I've just been out and bought all the stuff for a hot curry for later, so I'll let you all know how that goes. It's been suspiciously quiet today, considering it's the start of 'our' month. Is that a good omen d'ya think? Has anyone started yet? Aaarrgghhh...the waiting is killing me! Right, I'm off to peel yet another pineapple. Hope you're all ok. X

madgirl · 06/07/2004 19:05

hello everyone, i've been pants at posting but have been reading everyone else's. i'm due week tomorrow and have started having braxton hicks around every hour or so. head was 3/5 last friday, but think it is lower now as climbing the stairs is suddenly really easy again (well easier). we have busy w/end booked up with shrek 2 and nursery bbq but are planning vv hot curry sat night and dh excited at prospect of lots of bd'ing!!! gosh, wonder who'll be first. best of luck everyone. mgxx

Celou · 06/07/2004 21:48

I'm going to the hairdresser's tomorrow (due on the 12th of July). Isn't that supposed to bring labour? We'll soon see.

motherinferior · 06/07/2004 22:04

hairdresser worked for me, Celou - didn't even get time to dye it!

MarmaladeSun · 06/07/2004 23:45

Madgirl. I've just had a VERY hot curry (I'm usually a korma type of gal myself) so am waiting to see if that brings anything. Also just ate a whole fresh pineapple. Yum. Celou, not sure about the hairdresser thing; I had mine cut at the beginning of the week and I'm still waiting. sigh. One thing to try if you have Sky is to watch Takeshi's Castle at 6pm every night. I laugh so much it hurts and brings very worried looks from DH and kids! Hasn't brought on labour but it sure makes you forget the discomfort!!! LOL.
