Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Lupe · 21/06/2004 20:50

Am I too late to join? Due 24/7, could do with a natter about all the usual stuff!

littlerach · 21/06/2004 21:52

Welcome, Lupe, is this your first?

Lupe · 22/06/2004 14:23

yep, I'm really excited! the bump's starting to feel really big now with lots of muscular movement going on inside - I'm sure she's going to be a wrestler!

littlerach · 22/06/2004 14:34

Do you know the sex then?
I had a much better sleep last night, actually managed about 6 hrs!!!

Lupe · 22/06/2004 14:50

yes - I couldn't wait to find out - it just made it so much easier than calling her an 'it'!

It's interesting to find out people's reasons for not wanting to know - at one time I thought I was the only person who did but now I've started going to antenatal classes and everyone there knows bar one. Incidentally, everyone seems to be having girls this year! (I think I know of about 10 so far and no boys!).

Six hours sleep sounds pretty good - I was having a crap time till I chucked the other half out of bed, sorted myself out a nest of about 5 pillows and found out that my mattress was softer on one side than the other!

Now if I could just find a cure for the heartburn and tiredness I'd be in heaven

carwillin · 22/06/2004 20:53

Lupe - That's amazing at my ante-natal class six out of eight are having boys and there are two of us who don't know.
The only thing I can recommend for heartburn is lots of cold water, I drink about 4 litres a day in order to keep it bay but it works better than gaviscon.

Can't help with the tiredness but at least it's cooled down a bit today. Only 3 more days left at work and I'm hoping to veg on the settee all day everyday until baby arrives.

Lupe · 23/06/2004 12:21

Carwillin, that's a relief - I thought maybe men were being phased out!

only trouble with the cold water remedy might be my extremely active bladder!

And I thought it was supposed to get better when their head started to engage (I was 4/5 last week).

Oh well...

littlerach · 23/06/2004 12:51

Slept well again last night, even let DH into bed with me!!!

Last day at work today, seem to have bought Tesco out of cakes this morning!!!!

Had horrid low down pain again this morning, would be quite something to go into labour on my last day!! Last time, I managed to wait until 2 days later!!!

Toothache · 23/06/2004 12:58

Littlerach - Could it maybe be a UTI causing you the discomfort?
It's a bit early for labour, but you never know.

littlerach · 23/06/2004 13:01

How would I know if it was a UTI?

Toothache · 23/06/2004 13:07

I've had a few this pregnancy and it started off feeling like dull period type pains really low down in my womb area. It then moved to my back. If it got really bad it was like shooting pains low down when I stood up too quickly, they really made me catch my breath! The UTI I had at 24 weeks the pains came every 4mins which is why I was rushed to hospital. The infection can cause your uterus to be 'irritated'. But the only way to know is to have a urine sample tested.... which your MW will do at every antenatal check up. When is your next one?

It always made me chuckle when I had an infection and they would ask me if I was urinated more often!! Eh...... YES, but nothing to do with an infection!!!

I'm probably wrong, but just thought I'd mention it. The best thing is to drink loads of water (and pee even more! ).

serenequeen · 23/06/2004 13:15

hi littlerach, sorry to hear you are in pain. utis are quite common in pg, as i'm sure you're aware. hope you feel better soon.

MarmaladeSun · 23/06/2004 13:36

Hi everyone. I know I'm a bit late joining, so I hope you don't mind. I'm 37 weeks today with my third baby, and planning a home birth. Is anyone else having one? I don't think I will go to 40 weeks (although my daughter was 40+11!!!) but have been experiencing quite a lot of pains and niggles lately, especially lower back pains along with tightenings. Anyway, just thought I'd say hi and hope to hear from you soon.

bzhmum · 23/06/2004 13:42

hello and welcome
homje birth sound great to me - my sister had one with her second baby, and preferred it. i remember going to see her and she was still hyper from the gas and air (and adrenalin I suppose) - shattered the next day, though!

I'm now week 35 or 36 - due july 23rd, they tell me.
in hospital though, as it is my first.
my belly sometimes feels tight too, and lots of movement from side to side last night, with big protruding baby-bum sticking out beside my belly button!

SpringChicken · 23/06/2004 17:33

Afternoon All Well it's all kicking off over on the June thread - Can't believe we are actually next ! ! !

Been having period type pains on and off since last Friday - hoping this is body getting ready for an imminent move Dp is hoping for Sunday as it is fathers day and i will be 37+1 so not too early.

How do you know if you are getting tightenings etc? I have thought i have been getting some recently along with awkward pains but then don't know if they are Braxton Hicks or if it just the baby moving - How do u know?

MarmaladeSun · 23/06/2004 17:46

Hi. The tightenings feel different from movements (well for me anyway) as they are like a belt being tightened all over the bump. Sometimes it actually restricts my breathing, whereas when the babe moves you can actually track where it is...follow the movements if you like. It also builds up from a 'is that another one?' to 'ouch, can it get any tighter!'. LOL. Having said that, I am now feeling a touch concerned because I haven't felt the baby moving much today, and she is usually very active. I had thought that that might be the calm before the storm (delivery imminent) but having read archived boards on here apparently they can squirm about right up to delivery. You'd think I'd know, as this is my third, but it's been 7 and a half years since I last did this so I guess I'm a little rusty! Any thoughts?

Quackers · 23/06/2004 19:35

Hiya, wlcome marmalade sun!! I've had trouble last few days with lack of movement and they had me in to be monitored. I now have to count 10 kicks per daytime. If I can't get the 10 kicks, then it's back up there to be monitored. They say that's the easiest way to see if baby's ok. Does this help at all??
Jems, BH's are weird things. They are what you'll feel in labour but much milder, however mine have been pretty strong and were last time for BH's anyway. On the monitor the other day I was having some and they were half way up the chart! I like them cos I can practice a bit of breathing through them! Should feel like your whole tummy is going hard like a rock and then it will release again!
It's us next!! Just packed my bags, feels great to be organised!!! Just hoping I don;t go loads over!

Only 9 days until Freddiecat's due date - Ooooohhhh, this is getting so exciting !
Spent the whole weekend wishing something would hurry up and happen - have started getting the freaded "Have you had the baby yet" phone calls .

Another one of my questions that i thought of yesterday - when you are in labour does the baby stop moving as it is making it's way down or does it still move about as if it would normally?

sweetkitty · 26/06/2004 15:06

SC - you're like me I'm getting impatient to see the baby now and I've still got 6 weeks to go. You know we will both be overdue now

littlerach · 26/06/2004 15:09

I think the baby stops moving as much, as it concentrates all its energy on getting out!!!

Am on maternity leave now - hurrah!!! Not sure what to do with myself really!!!

monkeygirl · 26/06/2004 15:19

Now that us June lot have finally got round to getting our dbs out, thought I'd pop in and wish you ladies all the best of luck because it's not long now, eh!

May your little twinges turn into big ones soon

chickpea · 26/06/2004 18:06

Hello everyone.

Thank you for the message Monkey girl - I must do some earwigging on the June thread - remind myself what I am letting myself in for.

It's nice to see when you are all due. How are you feeling Freddiecat?

I am trying to wind down at work now as I am starting to feel the tiredess creeping in. Is anyone else on this thread having a home birth? I think I asked ages ago but my brain is doing that annoying sieve thing.

CP

Helsbels · 27/06/2004 12:41

hi guys - hope all are well. Have been to Midwife and she says baby is really low for second one so is hopeful she will see it before she goes on holiday on 3rd July!! Not sure myself though - having strong BH and very restless but you can't tell can you? Worried I will not know as had to have waters broken first time round and started with a bleed rather than a show. Oh well - it will all work out. Glad to see everyone else is waiting for July so far. Keep posting

Toothache · 27/06/2004 12:52

I had terrible backache yesterday that lasted for 2 hours! It was agony. I took some cocodamol, leant over my birthing ball for a while then lay in bed. Everything calmed down then and this morning I've woken up with just a mild niggle. Gave us a bit of a wake up call though! I'd like to have this wee one out a bit early, but 33+4 is just TOOOOOOO early!

The nesting instinct is getting out of hand now.... I clean the fridge out yesterday and washed the fron of the washing machine!

Good luck you lot..... let's hope someone kicks off soon!

MarmaladeSun · 27/06/2004 13:03

Hi everyone. Chickpea, I'm having a homebirth too. I had a hideous birth first time round in hospital, but second time was lovely (in hospital also) when I had a birth pool and just gas and air so decided to go the whole hog this time and have a home birth. That way I don't have to worry about getting someone to look after my other 2, and I will be relaxed (we've only just moved here from Germany and I don't really know anyone that well to ask them yet).
I thought I was starting last night as was having very strong contractions all evening with lower back pain, but decided to wait and see and everything had settled again when I woke this morning. Oh well, at least we didn't miss the footie! LOL. I'm due on July 10th by the way.
