amicable we have all been there. DH told me a family friend of his parents are expecting a new baby and she's just tested positive! She's already telling everyone. I think some people never have miscarriages in their minds. How lucky they are.

jays I didn't have any early scan because I couldn't get one for free. If you can afford one I think it is a great reassurance. I know I'd like one.

CorporeSarnie · 09/05/2014 19:45

Goodness it has been moving fast here.
Amazing news from amum, we all have our collective fingers crossed for you. Sounds like you're being seen in the right place from the outset.
cuppa, sorry that you're playing the waiting game - I had a (gynae issue-related) scan at 5+3 with only an empty sac, which led to EPU calling me in a week later, when we saw the heart. A few days can make all the difference - a slightly later ov, slow implantation, will change where you're at. I was very much of the school of thought that until we saw a baby at the 12 week scan I wasn't going to believe anyway (I am still a bit like this, and have already been through a successful 12w scan). Try and keep distracted, but don't lose hope.
MrsG, hope that the hernia isn't too painful, and that the repair isn't too tough.
I've had a hard week - my foot and leg have actually become more sore as the swelling has gone down/healing has started in the last couple of days. Sleeping badly as a result (as am only taking paracetamol, am desperately saving my two doses for bedtime and 6h later when I wake up in pain), and can't concentrate on anything I attempt to work on at home. Can't wait for my MW appointment next week so at least I can get her to listen for the heart, bizarrely have my 1st consultant appt the next day as well, but can't think that far ahead yet.
Right that is quite enough self-pity. Hope you are all having a lovely Friday.

Emz87 · 09/05/2014 19:52

I had a miscarriage in January now pregnant again nhs won't do a scan they say lots of women have them and not to worry. I'm a nervous wreck. I feel for every women that goes through one. We have to keep our chins up. Xxx

Gwlondon · 09/05/2014 20:41

Hi Emz87 this thread is the perfect place not to feel alone. It helps me loads.

amicablemoomin I know that feeling. I am jealous of that sort of innocence. Innocence that I once had!

OneLittleToddleTerror · 09/05/2014 21:21

Emz87 welcome to the thread. And yes they are right there are many women who have been through miscarriages. Sadly it's something of a taboo subject in our society. Have you looked at private scans? A lot of places offer them, and it might just be the reassurance you needed? Otherwise, remember that most women who had one miscarriage went on to have a successful pregnancy. I think it's only after 3 that the odds are stacked against you, and that's why the NHS only offer recurrent miscarriage support after 3. (It could be after 2 that it's less than 50% chance, but I can't remember)!

Keep reminding yourself that the odds are still with you. And you can ask for fish slaps anytime you want here. Grin

Congrats on your pregnancy. Take it a day at a time.

Gwlondon · 10/05/2014 07:33

Had a really bad nights sleep. My scan is next week ( I will be about 11 weeks). Last time I had a mmc and found at the dating scan. I am thoroughly miserable.

amicablemoomin · 10/05/2014 07:42

hi gw sorry to hear you are having a bad morning - when is your scan next week?

Penguin13 · 10/05/2014 07:47

Yay Penguinita that's great news. Let's face it if anyone should be born in a pool it's a baby penguin Grin.

Corpore poor you! Sorry your foot and leg are so sore. I really hope it starts to calm down soon.

Welcombe to the thread Emz and congratulations on your pregnancy Smile They aren't wrong saying that miscarriages are sadly common, but that doesn't make your fears and concerns any less valid. You will worry, it's nearly impossible not to, but you'll find some willing ears and hands to hold here and One is right, the odds are with you.

On the subject of worry, 2 weeks out from my 12 week scan I feel completely un-pregnant. I even feel like my breasts have reduced in size a little and no more getting up in the night to pee. Mostly I think 'everything's probably fine, hormones fluctuate as do symptoms' but there's that second voice that creeps in occasionally saying 'ha! That's what you thought last time'. It IS different though as we've had 2 very positive scans. Fish slaps needed.

Penguin13 · 10/05/2014 07:49

Sorry cross-post Gw really sorry you're having a bad morning. Not too long to wait now though I know a few days can seem like forever. Hugs.

Penguin13 · 10/05/2014 07:51

*I should point out that when I said 'willing ears and hands to hold' I did not mean to imply that the ears were willing to be held Blush.

amicablemoomin · 10/05/2014 07:59

hey penguin if this helps at all my book says that symptoms like needing to wee all night tend to reduce drastically after 12 weeks...sure the other further on ladies can tell us if that is true, but it sounds like that's what should be happening. I hate that voice though!

Gwlondon · 10/05/2014 08:41

amicablemoomin thank you. Scan is on Wednesday.

penguin13 I know, post scan positive feeling doesn't last long enough. Actually talking about weeing I couldn't sleep and did wee a lot last night. I didn't realise it was an early symptom. I have blood sugar problems so I always thought it was connected with that! Which adds to my worry it is going wrong.

Thank you kind people!

amicablemoomin · 10/05/2014 09:35

every minute just drags gw and you are right - you only get about 48hrs reassurance (if you are lucky). if you are 11 weeks though lots of weeing would be a symptom still (or could be other medical issues too). thinking of you today Thanks

Cuppachaplz · 10/05/2014 10:42

Morning all,
My post from last night seems to have been eat so I'll try again (briefly)
amum fab news! everything crossed for you all
mrsg ouchio! wishing you a speedy fix and freedom from pain
nerdy great milestone! enjoy
penguinita that's great! enjoy the home birth! soo much more comfortable in your own environment. I had home birth, or rather home labour for 2 d until c sec only option left with DS. Required no pain relief at all until I got to hospital, and by that time I had been fully dilated and pushing for 30h. Says a lot for the relaxing powers of home comforts x

I know I asked before, but does anyone have any experience of progesterone pessaries? Pregnancy symptoms seem vastly worst; uber sick and not eaten or kept anything down for days, now feeling so dehydrated, not even had a pee yet today! Also my boobs look like they have been over inflated; emergency crop top shopping today...
Happily my mint has taken off in the garden, so mint tea all the way in the hope it helps, as the red bush which I was previously loving now makes me gag. Would love to think these are good signs, but suspect it's all just the Meds; from googling, I seen to be on a very high dose.
Wishing you a nun eventful day x

SomeSunnySunday · 10/05/2014 10:48

Cuppa I was on progesterone with DC2. I had hideous sickness, proper HG, needed hospitalised. I had had bad morning sickness with DC1, but not even on the same scale. I always blamed the progesterone for exacerbating my sickness. But I am not taking anything this time round, and I feel that my sickness is headed the same way. So now I'm less sure.

NerdyBird · 10/05/2014 12:41

My needing to wee definitely reduced in the second trimester. Back again now in the third, but my baby feels quite low down so might be putting more pressure on my bladder.

It's just dawned on me that part of my baby's pattern of movements might be to have busy days followed by quiet days. Thursday was fairly active, yesterday less so but more today. I've also been really hungry the last couple of days.

HopefulHamster · 10/05/2014 12:45

Cuppa I was on 400mg progesterone twice daily until 12 weeks, and I had hardly any symptoms at all! The body is a weird weird thing.

LondonJen · 10/05/2014 13:58

Penguin13 I needed to wee less from week 10. Only twice in the night instead of 3 times. My prev mmc was at 10 weeks so I worried just like you but also as you said I knew it was around then things change when placenta takes over. Try to hold on to that if you can.

Sorry Corp I really hope it eases up soon.

Hi to everyone else sorry quick post lots on this weekend.

QuietTiger · 10/05/2014 15:49

DH & I couldn't wait any more and had a private scan today. I calculated that I was 6+6 by LMP dates, so figured that we should find a heart beat.

Well, the consultant (who've we've seen before) was lovely. Not only did he actually find a heart beat of 120bpm, but we also heard it. At that point DH & I got very emotional. Blush Little bean is definitely there and the consultant said the pregnancy is a viable one. Grin

Dates by scan are 6+6 and EDD is 28th December (so knowing my luck, I'll give birth on xmas day!).

The day improved even more when DH and I went out to lunch to celebrate and we found a parking space straight away! :)

Alb1 · 10/05/2014 16:57

I'm really sorry to dive in with such a selfish post, am in work and don't have much time, will catch up later.

But basically I'm reaching full panic stage, 24 weeks today and having felt the baby move once today, I have an anterior placenta so movement isn't that regular, but iv deffiently normally felt him by now, at what point should I phone the midwife? I don't have a number for them n my notes are at home so I don't even no who id phone but I'm getting worried :-( on an all day shift aswell so can't even get to my doppler for another 6 hours yet.

Sorry again for the self centered post! Hope everyone's ok Smile

OneLittleToddleTerror · 10/05/2014 18:02

alb1 I also have an anterior placenta and I don't feel movements if at all. Have you tried putting your hands over your bump? I found it's easier to feel the baby from outside then inside.

quiettiger congrats on the great scan news*

cuppa that sounds awful. Are you ok being dehydrated?

Alb1 · 10/05/2014 18:25

Yeah think iv tried just about everything today :-/ getting regular Braxton hicks too but I dunno if that's cos I'm stressing about lack of movement as I normally get them when overworked or stressed.

Great scan news tiger Smile

NerdyBird · 10/05/2014 18:33

alb I had this last week. Barely felt baby move and didn't really respond to normal things like cold drinks and sugar. I eventually went to labour triage at about 9pm to be checked. Everything was fine and the midwife was lovely. She said baby may just have got into a position where I can't feel it. We could hear the movements on the monitor. That was at 29 weeks so your baby might be doing similar.

Get checked if you don't feel things are right.

Jays43 · 10/05/2014 19:35

Nerdy bird - I remember that with my daughter and had the same issue. It may be worth getting it checked out but I'm sure all is well.

Tiger- I don't blame you getting a scan. I'm 7 and a day. It sounds like we would be due the same time. I have decided to get a scan in a week or so. I feel terrib today, feel so sick and so so tired with achy boobs. I don't remember feeling this rubbish with my mmc. I did with my daughter though. It's mad really I have friends with no symptoms and healthy pregnancies. How do you feel?

bakingtins · 10/05/2014 19:43

cuppa I was on 400 mg progesterone twice daily and not much in the way of symptoms other than exhaustion. I was also on steroids though which seem to suppress sickness, and I didn't have much MS in other pregnancies. I guess everyone responds differently. Hope it eases off soon.

QT great news! Grin

alb if you have a break try having a sugary drink and lying on your L side for a few minutes. I also have anterior placenta and have felt less movement all the way through compared to prev pregnancies, until now when belly is so huge her feet protrude over the top, but I can pretty much define the area where the placenta is attached and I don't feel anything even if my whole bump is moving. v odd. Get checked out if you are worried, they won't mind.
