Pregnancy

38 weeks and going crazy, anyone else?

I'm due 23rd April but as soon as I became 37 weeks (full term) I just felt so desperate to meet my baby. After suffering with hyperemesis for the first 4 months and now terrible pelvic and hip pain, I can't say I've hugely enjoyed pregnancy. I feel like I spend my days googling natural induction methods and early labour signs. Does anyone else over analyse every little symptom they have and feel like they are just waiting for something to finally happen....

I am with you all - for some reason DH got a lie in this morning whilst i got up with DS Hmm i have told him that i am getting a lie in next weekend as it is my last chance for months!

madasabox sending you the MN power hugs for tomorrow, go for it lady!! Grin

honeybadger yes i am getting the pelvic pain too, and every other pain going - in fact if it was any more painful i would be convinced i was in labour, i know i am not as i have heard (and i think it is mentioned upthread) 'if you are not sure then it aint the real thing'

Pleeeeeeease let the next pains 'be sure'!!!

Oh and i used my pregnancy raging hormones to my advantage today. I have a really annoying neighbour who i have been dying to yell at for months - he 'told me off' for helping DH sort out the garage. We were fixing one of DH's gubbins and i was holding a screwdriver, the patronising git said 'ooo dont do anything silly - here let me hold that, you women...'

I yelled at him 'for gods sake leave me alone i am aware of my capabilities - stop being so sexist' he scuttled off with his 1970's pig ignorant tail between his legs..

god that felt good!! Grin

Martha I can picture it now! I had a similar comment today from an annoying man who persisted on treating me as if my brain cells had evaporated in direct proportion to my growing stomach! Well done you!

I got a lie in the day before yesterday - my 2nd in 9 months - I have the feeling that that's my quota!

Well unless my waters break/contractions start in the next 12 hours I shall be having the induction :-( Thank you for the power hugs!

PS refusing to answer my phone now as 7 people have phoned today for an update!

Awake most of night with back ache. Got up six am and wept and wept.

So tired today and two kids/school runs and no dh as he's back to work.

This is so hard Sad

Oh buffy it is hard, but it will soon be over. Just hang on in there.

Am in hospital now, pessary in. Barely slept a wink last night so not feeling full of beans! Baby still not engaged, cervix tucked back so nothing looking imminent. Basically, it's wait for 4 hours or so and then break my waters - absolutely terrified!

Thanks for thoughts everyone! Will try and keep you posted.

Hi everyone - just been reading this thread and wondered if I could join in...

I'm 38 +2 today. I was determined not to complain as this pregnancy has been difficult coming and - to be fair - I've had it quite easy. Until today it seems! Had first terrible night's sleep last night. Bad hip pains, baby going crazy and couldn't get comfy... woke up this morning to discover I've got piles! That made me have a little self pitying cry. Just ordered a load of fibre rich foods in my internet shop (can't be bothered to drag myself to the local shops today). The diet has been going a bit downhill in recent weeks after initially really trying to be super healthy.

Midwife said last week that the baby is in position and head engaged. But I haven't had a single sign anything will happen imminently. I've never had any Braxton hicks and any period like pains I've had are so mild I might be imagining them.

I just wish I knew if she'd be coming before due date next Sunday. I feel like I can make it until then but don't want to go over!! Friend due day after me is having an elective this week and I'm feeling kind of envious they know when it'll all be happening.

Hi to everyone in the same boat and congrats to those whose baby's have turned up!

Had to apologise to dd after I snapped at her because cbeebies website wasn't working properly. Then I cried and she came and asked if I was okay. Poor thing Sad

Forced myself to pass time by making fairy cakes and reading stories.

I'd been doing okay up until now. Just hit a mental wall last night and today. I have big babies and struggle physically. I'm anxious about the birth.

Oh well dd off to pre school this pm so will run myself a nice deep bath and doze/read kindle.

Hi all,

I'm due Sunday, but I'm getting really fed up now...
My hips are aching, I can't sleep at night, my stretch marks are itching so bad (started about 3 weeks ago) that they wake me up at night, heartburn is beyond unbearable, I'm bored of being at home... Need I go on?!
I had what I thought was a show, happened last Saturday (12th) and it was a bit of blood when I wiped (very mucusy) for about 12 hours then it completely stopped. Had it again on Good Friday for about 3 hours and completely stopped again. Has anyone experienced this before?
Other than that, not a single sign. Baby was 1/5th engaged last tues, appointment tomorrow to see where we are with that. No braxton hicks throughout whole pregnancy. Baby still quite active. Taking raspberry leaf and had vindaloo last night, a whole pineapple to demolish today. Regular sex was happening too but now daddy has put his back out- not during the sex! Playing football with the dog lol.

I had my baby last night at 39w 2 days.

The birth was amazing. So different to my DS's birth. Planned home, water birth. Bit scary as contractions were every 3 mins from the start and painful pretty quickly and made me wonder if I could cope without pain relief. Was about 2 hours all in. No time to fill pool, but I did manage a bath. Contractions so close from the start and super painful, I was pacing around the house trying to get comfy during them, but of course failing!

But overall, no tearing, she was super alert and I was on adrenaline high as soon as she was here, not doped out like with DS. So, so healing.

OH was amazing - he was in phone to ambulance as they told him what to do and he caught her. But basically I was pushing and nothing was going to stop me no matter what! I put my hand down and felt her head and thought, right this just got serious, going to have to pull myself together and do this thing.

I got to hold her immediately and was just blissed out that she was here safely - was in shock a bit I think!

She'd passed lots of meconium which made waters green and was scary. But she arrived 30 mins later, so just had to get on with it.

Doula and paramedics arrived about 10 mins after she came. And midwives about 10 mins after that. Then had everyone watching me while I waited an hour for placenta to come. 7 people coming and going and my DS slept through it all.

Meconium is why we were transferred into birth centre after the birth. She passed all observations and is feeding well so we went back home at midday today. Was in private room with en suite, so was lovely actually.

Am so blissed out and she seems a really happy baby and seems to be fine with her crazy big brother running about. She bought him a space rocket, so he's well chuffed with her too, :)

I totally feel your pain ladies, but wanted to share my story as it all feels so different just 24 hours later, once on the other side. I'm sore down below, but no tears or anything and don't feel huge, pain in hips gone, carpel tunnel gone down loads and no heartburn. Very happy not to be pregnant anymore. Its so worth it ladies and it will be your turn soon!

Congratulations llama!!

Would it really annoy everyone if I said I think iv turned a corner?! Not feeling so fed up and actually do the mind when he comes. I would just like it to be natural if I can and before my mother leaves the country!

40 weeks tomorrow and second sweep booked but in all honesty I think he's far too comfy to come!

Hi all,

Please may I join your thread. am 37 + 4 with DS2 and every inch of me aches and throbs! I had the mother of all stomach aches today and had to call DH home from work to take care of DS1 so I could go for a bath, I was worried to call midwife in case I just needed a big poo! (sorry TMI) I have had a hot water bottle on my back ever since and am scared to go to bed due to the usual, pelvic pain, hip pain, cramps, wees, turning over 500 times, checking the clocks, nightmares and hip pains!

Water broke at 36 + 5 with DS1 and after 40 hours of contractions ended in EMCS due to failure to progress and babies heart rate dropping. Have a CS booked in for 7th May but not sure which scares me more to be honest!

Having an emotional day today :-( such a comfort to have "friends" in the same boat x

Congrats llama, your birth story sounds wonderful! Sounds like an extremely quick labour.

Well 39+4 (officially it's after midnight!) and I'm struggling to sleep as have terrible pains, the occasional "contraction" I've felt like this since about 10.30pm so who knows if this could be it or another false alarm. Keep thinking I should have washed my hair tonight as well! Hmm

Morning all! Sorry about the radio silence. No wifi in the hospital. Baby girl madasabox born yesterday evening at 7:30pm after what was for me a short labour of only 9 hours including 30 minutes of pushing. Afraid I was quite noisy during the pushing stage as I dilated too quickly post having my waters broken for any pain relief and I am a wimp when it comes to pain! Thrilled to bits to have another girl (have a DD and a DS already) and even more thrilled that she is healthy. Won't lie and say labour was good, as I say I am a wimp. Just glad it's all over.

Good luck to everyone else, hope everything is progressing.

xx

I am 38 weeks pregnant and this morning I bent down to the washing machine and "whooosh" I had a rush of water flow out. It then continued as a trickle as I shuffled to the toilet. It then continued as a steady slow running tap as I sat on the loo. I put a pad on and got myself to triage to be told it was not my waters breaking it was an infection? Anyone heard of this before? My liquid was clear and didnt smell?

Congratulations llama and madasabox - send birth positivity our way!

Still no news from me, am resigned to going overdue, which is lucky really as I still haven't packed my hospital bag! I was 8 days over with DS1 and midwife said to expect similar with DC2.
