Pregnancy

38 weeks and going crazy, anyone else?

I'm due 23rd April but as soon as I became 37 weeks (full term) I just felt so desperate to meet my baby. After suffering with hyperemesis for the first 4 months and now terrible pelvic and hip pain, I can't say I've hugely enjoyed pregnancy. I feel like I spend my days googling natural induction methods and early labour signs. Does anyone else over analyse every little symptom they have and feel like they are just waiting for something to finally happen....

nothing to report here - apart from waking at 4am with indigestion and thinking it was labour starting! Hoping to get a sweep today.

No good news here either, got woken up after 3 hours sleep by braxton hicks, when I'm lying down they squeeze in my ribs which are so painful, add to that the hip pain and I'm really fed up Sad Just went out with my mum and was so uncomfortable I spent the whole time wishing to be back on the sofa. Sorry for the negative, self indulgent post- I'm really feeling crappy today... 39+3

Any news oakley ? Nothing to report here. First sweep is booked for Friday morning and induction booked for Wednesday. But that's almost a week away so there's time yet...

Hope you had a better day torfhinn ? I think we're allowed self indulgent posts at this stage Grin I've had a bit of a frustrated day after my better mood yesterday - sleeping badly definitely doesn't help. Walked about lots today with ds and planning to go to an Easter egg hunt tomorrow - life goes on!

Hi all.

Moved on from being sick to very unexpected diarrhoea here. Joy! Sad

Feeling very out of sorts too, grumpy, can't get comfy in any position, feeling hot and bothered, pacing about - even the way people are breathing is annoying me!

Also upset I can't be doing any day trips with my 3 year old, even the local park in the nice weather seems too much now so its Peppa Pig TV on and trying not to feel too guilty about it.

How is everyone else getting on?

38+4

Morning everyone, lots of Braxton hicks yesterday, I even timed a few with contraction app but think I was kidding myself as they didn't really hurt. Lots of back ache too but no real contractions or labour, put a towel under my bed sheet in hope but waters still in tact. I really feel like my body is up to something but not sure if it's not all in my head now!
Hope everyone else is doing ok, the mental side is just as hard as the physical side. Just hoping the Easter Bunny will be bringing more than eggs for us this year.

Oh Oakley, it's soul destroying when you wake up still pregnant after thinking things are starting, I know :( hope you have nice things planned today. No news here, except I tripped over the folded up birth pool last night and wrenched my hip, which hasn't helped pelvic pain. Not sure if that's ironic?!

I think all the Braxton pain, cramps and discharge etc are signs our bodies are gearing up for labour; unfortunately they don't come with a countdown! Term +8 today and going to do my best to ignore it and enjoy ds and egg hunt. Last warm day for a bit too apparently.

Had the sweep yesterday and was getting pains every 10mins. Then it stopped! Gutted.

Report
OakleyCat · 17/04/2014 09:49

I know the feeling Sammi, just remember even though the pains didn't turn into anything they weren't there for no reason. It was your body doing something to get ready for labour.
Extra sympathy for all you ladies who have gone past the 40 weeks mark. I'm going to go cheer myself up with an Easter egg.

It was something my midwife told me and it actually helps I find to know that. Just been to have nails done, did nice face mask this morning and having the dreaded Brazilian tomorrow, hoping pre-pampering is like a kind of nesting!
Looking forward to having hubby home for the bank holiday to keep my mind occupied and fetch things for me!

Iv just got hard skin remover for my feet and a new razor blade, that's as good as it gets for pampering! Insanely jealous though, what mani did you get?
My OH is on nights now til Tuesday, not impressed!

Just got a French paint and file so they look nice and tidy. That sucks about your husband being on nights, least you get the bed to yourself. I kick my husband out half the time for snoring or if I just want the whole bed to stretch my body out.
Hope you get a better nights sleep, hope all the aches and pains go when baby comes out!

Nothing to report Hmm. Saw consultant yesterday to discuss induction and to get a sweep. My cervix was so unfavourable I couldn't get a sweep, which was really disappointing. I didn't even realise it was a possibility at 40+5. They offered and induction for Monday which is when I will be 10 days overdue but I declined. Got monitored today and was told my Bp etc is perfect and baby is healthy with strong hb. Going in again on Sunday for monitoring and they will try and give me a sweep then. Meeting consultant next Tuesday to see how things are and to discuss again an induction. Looking likely I'll need to be induced but going to give myself as long as possible for it to happen naturally, or at least get some progress so I'm not being induced from an unfavourable cervix.

May i join in?

37+4 and currently timing my Braxton Hicks - i know they mean diddly squat but it is taking my mind off it. I am booked in for a ELCS on 28th but am really hoping things get moving beforehand. I dont want an EMCS but my consultant has said that if i go into early labour they will give me the choice (ELCS is due to Gestational Diabetes and a previous EMCS with DS).

I have tried all the classics: pineapple, hot curry, DTD, and today i went for a long walk in the countryside. That has exhausted me (and the cat is following me round like nothing else which is apparently a good sign Hmm).

Not sure whether this is connected to my long walk today but i am having BH's every 9 minutes and they are lasting 50-60 seconds. I havent lost any plug or waters yet (but i have read that either the waters can go or the contractions can start first - there is no rhyme nor reason to it).

TBH i think i am just symptom spotting but i would love to think things are moving. I think my walk has helped engage the babys head as i feel a lot 'lower' tonight Hmm

Anyway - that is my grand entrance to the thread!! Grin I realise i am far behind some poor souls here Flowers

Nothing happening here. Heard about time for scheduled induction on Wednesday and made it all a bit more real :( feeling a bit down and out of control of everything. Getting painful Braxton hicks as usual but have almost given up hope my body even knows what to do. Bloody pelvic pain is really bad too. Trying not to think about it but that's impossible really.

Welcome Martha! I have tried all of the above along with raspberry leaf, blowing up balloon, clary sage oil and liquorice! Going to phone around my local clinics on Tuesday morning to see if anyone can fit me in for another sweep.

Oakley he's lucky he's on nights! Just found he has ruined my favourite bedding set by leaking tattoo ink. Humph! French sounds good, I have gone for a coral pink.

Raisin I'm so sorry your sweep didn't go as hoped, I have my fingers crossed the next one will be favourable!
