Jen I should add that I think the eight pounds something is big, but when babies are officially macrosomic they are 10 lbs +. I think anyway, can't remember what the consultant said the cut-off points were now. I think agood sized healthy baby is about 7lbs, again not sure though as my brain isn't working today!

StarsInTheNightSky · 10/03/2014 18:02

Rats! Sorry everyone, didn't mean to word that tactlessly, I mean that an average healthy baby is about 7lbs, didn't mean that those under 7lbs weren't healthy, or were abnormal at all. Really sorry about that, long day + lots of worry = no brain Blush

MrsGiraffe12 · 10/03/2014 18:24

Congrats pixie and swan on your babies. Hope your enjoying lovely newborn snuggles :-)

I'm 14+1 today and made my first official baby purchase, a crib and mattress. Feeling very brave ;-) x

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 10/03/2014 18:43

Hahaha stars have I mentioned dd2 was 10lb 9oz? Yes TEN POUND NINE OUNCES!! Dd1 was 8lb 3oz and was 'on the big side' but not classed as a big baby.

Don't worry I don't think you came across bad, every baby is different and it depends on maternal, paternal weight as well as head circumference and length as to what's healthy. An adverage length baby with an adverage head will be around 7lb so that's what they go for

CorporeSarnie · 10/03/2014 18:51

Glad to hear some more babies, & I hope you & baby are ok stars.
Things have taken a turn for the odd here. EPU called me this afternoon to follow up from my scan last week. Because they could only see an empty sac, they want me to come in for HCG draws. I'm torn between thinking that at 5?0 an empty sac is normal, and fearing that they must know something I don't. So off to EPU first thing tomorrow. So scared.

squizita · 10/03/2014 18:52

My family history baby sizes vary wildly. Smallest 4lb 8oz (me, 'runt' twin!) to 10lb+ biggies. I'm slightly worried as my body shape takes after my paternal side... famed for small women who push out gigantic babies (and then get up, dust themselves off and stroll back to the fields). Shock My grandmother never tired of pointing out my hips were 'childbearing' and I'd thank her for them one day!

Congrats pixie and swan. Wow, wow, wow thread baby week!

silverine7 · 10/03/2014 20:41

After the positive test on saturday, I tested again today and it came negative... 4 times... :-( Could it have been a false alarm? Still no period (it was due last Wednesday)...

fedupofrainydays · 10/03/2014 20:47

That's strange silverline. Did you do many tests on Saturday? What type did you use? False positives are very rare and given your period is so late I don't think so either.
Some people do just don't show well on pregnancy tests, but I don't want to say it but it also could mean something isn't right. I would go to doctor and ask for blood test for hcg. I've not tested since my bfp so I wouldn't know if mine didn't do the same. I couldn't cope with analysing lines any more so I've not POAS since bfp day!

silverine7 · 10/03/2014 20:52

I know, the more you test, the more confusing it gets...

I did 1 test on Sat afternoon that was positive and then 4 this afternoon that were negative. Will do 1 more tomorrow first thing in the morning as it's more concentrated, so not giving up yet. Then have doctor's appt on Wed am.

It could have been that it was on the way to forming but couldn;t embed properly..? Hmm

fedupofrainydays · 10/03/2014 20:54

corp try not to worry - they just want to check things out. I know easier said than done. EPUs are very cautious, and I am sure they will explain why when you come in. I know from experience that they want to rule out ectopic. Take care and hope you get some answers tomorrow.

fedupofrainydays · 10/03/2014 20:57

Yes silverline it can be - this would be a chemical pregnancy. But if there is no hcg in your system it seems strange you haven't had your period yet. Good plan to test in the morning with concentrated wee. Fx for you.

CorporeSarnie · 10/03/2014 21:03

Thanks fedup, am halfway sure that they have a policy of if 'empty sac' comes up on an early scan they call you in. And as it was a gynae rather than EPU scan I wasn't in the correct place for this procedure to kick in right away. Was such a shock to get the call whilst at work though. I must've looked like absolute crap afterwards as one of my reports (male, 20s, bullish) offered to drive me to my next meeting (a 5min walk away). I am trying to keep positive.

GuffSmuggler · 10/03/2014 21:13

FABULOUS NEWS pixie Well done you Grin Grin Grin

Hope you heal quickly and can enjoy some cuddles without too much pain. Sit and stare at her whenever you get the chance, they are only tiny for such a short time. Can't believe my little boy is one week today!

fod27 · 10/03/2014 21:15

TMI alert!!! Had a gurgly stomach and then a mad rush for the loo - diarrhea alert - just the one bout tho - could this be the start?? Or another false start ;(

MrsGiraffe12 · 10/03/2014 21:31

fod fingers crossed it's not a false start again, time for you to meet baby x

fod27 · 10/03/2014 21:52

I'm hoping so too Mrs G

GardenWorm · 11/03/2014 04:46

Congrats Pixie, well done you X ...andGuff too (sorry, I missed your announcement X)

StarsInTheNightSky · 11/03/2014 07:22

cbeebies Shock good grief, those certainly are big babies!!! Grin

MrsGiraffe that's great news and very posifrikintive, good on you! Grin I found that once I started buying things, gradually the fear of buying things started to go away, although I confess I am still wobbly about getting our pram and having the car seat installed Blush

Corp thank you, we're both doing fine now thanks, now that our little chap is back to behaving Hmm. As others have said, EPUs do tend to be very over cautious, I got called back to have hcg taken and that was after we had a scan and saw a strong heartbeat at 7/8 weeks, so I would try not to worry if I were you, it's probably just routine and they forgot to mention it. It's miserable though isn't it, really preys on the paranoia of early pregnancy. Really good luck for this morning, hope all goes well, will be thinking of you x

squiz that sounds like a bit of a size lottery! Confused I love all the comments on hips female relatives seem to dish out Grin

silverine keeping FX for you, it does sound really odd x.

fod it sounds very positive (well, you know what I mean!) how are things this morning? Any progress? Really hoping things are starting for you Smile

JBrd thinking of you and hoping time speeds by until your scan and harmony for you, will be keeping everything crossed that it's a really positive and happy afternoon for you xx.

saggy pixie swan and guff big congratulations once again! Grin hope you're all enjoying lots of snuggles Smile.

Day 1 of strict bed rest here, our GP is coming to check me this afternoon so until then I'm snoozing on the sofa. I am assuming lying flat on the sofa is ok, it's more interesting in our living room as we have big patio doors onto the garden which then looks across the fields, whereas our bedroom doesn't have such an interesting view. We have a really long sofa though, so I can lie almost flat with just a few pillows to prop me up.

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 11/03/2014 07:35

Right ladies, I'm a MASSIVE advocate fo always getting checked out, but now I'm thinking I may just be parinoid, plus DH is 1.5 hours away on the train.

so DD2 has been up tantrumming most of the night (want to be in your bed, dont want to be in your bed, want to be asleep, want to be awake, want a drink, how could you give me a drink...normal 2 year old stuff!)
a coupe of times she kicked me in the side of the bump. Nothing too hard and I wasnt concerned. He's been moving lots last night, lots of spinning and kicking and uncomfortable stretching etc.

This morning DD2 woke in a foul mood and as soon as she opened her eyes was tantrumming again [fed up] this time DH was at work so I bore the brunt of her kicking. 3 very hard blows low on the bump. It was very painful Sad

he's normally a little active in the morning but hasn't been. it only happened an hour and a half ago though so maybe I'm just not giving him enough time to wake up?

I just took my iron tablets with a very cold glass of orange juice and there were 2 very small movements, but nothing like he normally is.

Should I phone? should I be worried? I know that he's fairly protected in there but at 31+3 hes quite vunerable to heavy blows isnt he. I need to ring up to get checked dont I Sad

the most annoying thing is, I'm seeing the midwife and consultant tomorrow, but that'll be too late.

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 11/03/2014 07:37

Stars I pushed them both out naturally too! I only tore with dd1 (8lb 3oz) not even a graze with dd2 Hmm bucket fanjo! dd2 should never have come out naaturally though, the midwifes all panicked when they saw her head and realised she was a big 'un!

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 11/03/2014 07:40

oooh, Theres been a few more movements, but it feels strange, both of my girls were back to back and he has been too. I wonder if hes turned round. I think I'll have a shower and wait an hour or two before re-evaluating?

StarsInTheNightSky · 11/03/2014 07:57

Cbeebies Sorry you had such an awful night and morning Sad. I would phone your maternity unit right now and get checked out. They told me yesterday that they don't advise having a cold drink/lying on your side/waiting anymore, and that if you notice any movement changes they want you to come in asap. I honestly don't think it's worth the worry, the chances are that everything will be absolutely fine, but it's always safer and more reassuring to get checked out, please don't wait, give them a ring xx.
On a happier note - pushed out naturally bloody hell!!! Shock Grin

StarsInTheNightSky · 11/03/2014 07:59

Ps. cbeebies I don't think you're being paranoid - always better to be cautious Smile x

fod27 · 11/03/2014 08:02

corp good luck today - thinking of you
cbeebies if you get chance lie on your left side, after drinking a cold drink and eating, there should be some action, failing that a warm bath (take a cold drink up with you) and use a jug to pour warm water over bump. If you still feel uneasy - defo get checked out
stars I got a bit twingy then went bed, got up at 5am - and was full of energy, kids sorted and ready for school and house cleaned, beds made etc and waiting for floor fitters to arrive - had a really painful strike of pain in my back and hips, started as a radiating pain (thought I needed the lol again) when I pushed I was in agony!!! So now I'm thinking is it constipation? Surely not after a night of looseness..... So now I'm constantly knicker checking (talk about going full circle) Also DH is away with work ;(
