pixie MANY CONGRATULATIONS on the arrival of your baby girl! So happy for you! Labour hardly ever goes to plan but what matters is that you and your baby are well! Enjoy all the lovely newborn cuddles and we look forward to finding out the name!

swan congratulations to you too on your baby boy! So glad you wrote to let us know, I hope you're both doing well! Time goes so fast, doesn't it?

stars I hope all's well, please keep us updated.

JBrd good luck at the FMC today! I was there 11 months ago (last April). Are you 10 weeks? I remember being absolutely terrified before my first appointment but that's because I have 2 MMCs on my record. I had had a scan at 6weeks but the 10 week one calmed me down a fair bit (for a few days at least). It's a short walk to Oxford Street, maybe you can go to Selfridge's or Liberty's and browse? Also the Photographer's Gallery is just off Oxford Street if you're into that sort of thing: thephotographersgallery.org.uk/home

hi to everyone else! x

JBrd · 10/03/2014 12:04

squiz I'd say yes - lots of stretching and re-adjusting going on in that are at the moment Wink Have you been poking yourself? That might also contribute...

Congrats swan! Lovely news.

After having none yesterday, the sickness is quite bad today. Currently drinking ginger and lemon tea, yuck. And I could kill for something savoury, counting down to lunchtime. Have got some lovely Babybels in the fridge at home, argh.

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 10/03/2014 12:10

Congratulations pixi and swan, great news!!

Twinges and pulling is normal in early pregnancy, it's your uterus stretching and accommodating baby. Cramping and doubled over pain not so good.

Thinking of you stars, always best to check out reduced movements. I've been there myself and time literally stood still as they spent 10 minutes searching for the heartbeat. I literally heard a sigh of relief from the midwife and I burst into tears when they found it! Hoping they find all is well soon xx

squizita · 10/03/2014 12:20

Swan CONGRATS! My oh my these birth announcements make me so happy for the mums and make me feel hopeful too. :)

star hope everything is ok.

jbrd good luck for your scan and tests today.

I have 28 week growth scan tomorrow, getting a bit of scan doom even though I have no real reason to worry. Old habits die hard.

cbeebies I'm from the ever so classy stoke on trent area ;)

StarsInTheNightSky · 10/03/2014 15:37

Thanks very much all, hopefully be released from MAU soon, the little monkey is absolutely fine which is a massive relief - I burst into sobs, although contractions started not long after I got to MAU and apparently my body was starting to go into labour. Thankfully they managed to get them stopped, but I've been put on strict bed rest (again, I was only just off it!) and am being monitored closely. Thank you so much for your messages of support, this thread really does have such a lovely group of ladies on, thank you xx.

JBrd It would have really been lovely to meet up but I'm now on bed rest, so I'm afraid I can't, although I was supposed to be in London for work tomorrow, which would have been perfect Sad.

Pentagon · 10/03/2014 15:45

Oh stars thank goodness, I was starting to get worried! So glad all is well! You were about to go into labour?!? Good thing you were at the hospital and they managed to stop it. How long will you have to be on bed rest for?

I live in London, I wish we were closer and could meet up cbeebies! x

StarsInTheNightSky · 10/03/2014 15:58

Pentagon thank you so much x. Yes apparently so, they said that it was why he's gone quiet - if the little bugger darling has anymore reduced movements I'm going to be even more panicky than usual now! The consultant said that if I even suspect he's starting to go slightly quiet again I've got to go straight in. I'm still trying not to think about the what if's, and I still can't quite get my head around how much of a close call it was. I'm really hoping he can hang on in there even for a few weeks longer. I feel completely drained. Until I have my ELCS I think they mean, I've also got to go in again all day Friday and next Monday for monitoring. Sorry, I don't mean to sound pathetic, I am really grateful that's he's alive and healthy, that's the main thing.

Pentagon · 10/03/2014 16:15

stars you don't sound pathetic at all! Totally normal if you ask me Smile I'm glad they're keeping an eye on you and you know what to look out for now. I'm sure everything will be fine, just keep calm, take it easy and follow doctors' orders. x

squizita · 10/03/2014 16:24

Stars whew. Just goes to show instinct is often best!! :) Hope the bed rest isn't too boring and he behaves himself from now on!

stars So glad that they managed to help you immediately, how scary! No worries about meeting up, of course you need to stay put for now. How much longer do you have until your cs? Fingers crossed it'll all go smoothly from now on.

Cambridge here (well, a village near to, if you want to split hairs Smile)

MabelMay · 10/03/2014 16:36

fedup, fod, squiz, stars, JBrd and anyone I missed - thanks for thoughts and advice.

First of all, stars very pleased all okay with your bubs. Hang in there.

fedup, that's what I was thinking too about my, as I like to call it, 'tissue issue'. That as it only comes out when I strain hopefully it's less worrying? That it's stuff coming out from when the embryo implanted. God I hope so.

Stars I also wondered about UTI but have no other symptoms for it, no pain no funny smell etc and also I don't think it's coming from my urinary tract but rather from my cervix.

Anyway am about to call doctors although have been holding off as he has a rather unhelpful receptionist who always makes me feel like a prick for calling.

comforting to hear also about those symptoms not really kicking in until 6 weeks.

Good luck with your scan JBrd, I've also had scans done there at the FMC - hope baby happy and healthy and all is as it should be.

LondonJen · 10/03/2014 17:08

Blimey Stars what a day! I hope you've got your feet up with a cuppa now and glad to hear you're getting support/being monitored as well. Sounds reassuring.

I am South East London. But me and OH both originally from up North. Gonna have this first baby with no support around us. Eeek!

Good luck with your scan JBrd

Does anyone know what constitutes a big baby? I can't find any nhs info and I am loathe to just google it. Thinking today how dp was 9lb 1oz when he was born. I am only little! Tis scary! Once get to mw appts can always ask but thought I would throw it out there.. ta.

StarsInTheNightSky · 10/03/2014 17:57

pentagon squiz mabel and jen thank you all so much, and yep, DH is spoiling me rotten bless him I am now relaxing with cake and tea Grin

JBrd thank you, and I'll be thinking of you tomorrow and keeping everything crossed that everything goes brilliantly for you xx.
I don't have a date for it yet, annoyingly. I'm being scanned again at 36 weeks to decide when to do it, but the consultant has said to have my hospital bag with me at the scan as they might decide to do it there and then Confused. I am also not allowed to eat anything from 8pm the night before the scan, just in case Hmm. He said that in an ideal world they'd try to get me as near to 39 weeks as possible, but he doesn't think that's going to happen, so it will be somewhere between 36 - 39 weeks, so sometime in May. I wish I had an actual date, I was pretty (childishly) miffed when they told me today that they wouldn't book an actual date until my 36 week scan. I do have my hospital bag packed already though, we've had a couple of scares now so I wanted to be prepared!

Mabel what did the doctor say? Have you managed to speak to them yet?

Jen I think a big baby is one over 8lbs and 5oz, I might be wrong on the ounces front, but I'm sure it's 8lbs something. 9lbs 1 is very big, especially if you're little! Both DH and I are quite tall (I'm 5'9, DH is 6'5) so we were told from the start to expect a big, or at least long, baby (I didn't think parents height would make a difference) and from his scans he has been measuring very big and long - consultant thinks 10lbs+, although that would be at 40 weeks, so chances are he'll be quite a bit smaller than that.
