fod I do feel for you because for those of us that gestate our babies for slightly longer - like me - and for those for whom the EDD based on early scan is just wrong, EDDs are very frustrating. My whole family has a history of going 'overdue' by at least 10 days, when in fact anything up to 42 weeks is normal (and apparently my gran was 3 weeks late -not sure they'd allow that now!). With DS1 I went into labour at 41+6! Just hang in there as far as you can and try to avoid people who keep asking "any signs?"!!!

So the consultant's appointment was fine but they basically said, "we have systems and we have to stick to them", ignoring my explanation that it's impossible for me to be so far on etc.. etc.. Don't you just love systems?
So they're saying 29/09/14 but I know it's more like 09/10/2014. So here's my stats:
1MC, 1DS, 1MMC & 2MCs, EDD 9th October (or 29th Sep according to NHS).

CorporeSarnie · 03/04/2014 16:19

wigwam last time I had about 10 days between EDD according to me (based on LMP, ov, dates when we'd DTD - not that many of them Grin) and EDD 'agreed' by the scan data. I was always convinced they were wrong, but figured it didn't matter. When it did matter was that at 36+5 by NHS dates I was more like 35+2 (which is when I delivered), and because she wasn't 'prem' by their dates I got a lot of hassle re: weight gain & bf etc.
However this is not unique to babies born a bit early, so I think regardless they'd have mithered and gone on about expressing and supplementation. Luckily I found great support via a local MW-led BF cafe, and subsequently relaxed about the imaginary 'poison' of FF (please don't think that I am judging anyone else - I am judging how silly I was to worry about it!).
Needless to say, I will not be 'agreeing' with any EDD that makes no sense this time round (she says, naively).

HopefulHamster · 03/04/2014 16:39

Hello, haven't posted in a few days but hope everyone's all right. I'm feeling a bit weird today as 13.4 weeks and feel like bump has gone down - would hardly know I was pregnant except I'm a bit fatter than normal. When will I feel confident in it all?!

I will add self to stats if a) I ever get a bump or b) when I have 20 week scan - just hope a comes first!

bakingtins · 03/04/2014 16:40

My MW insisted on moving my EDD by one day after my scan and altering it everywhere it appeared in my notes Confused
I'm sticking with my date! And hoping this LO appears promptly on due date as my other two have!
The only time I can see it matters is if they move you forward a lot and then are hassling you to be induced because you are "overdue" when in fact you think you are just fine to wait a while....

JBrd · 03/04/2014 17:05

My EDD also got moved when I had the dating scan - however, in my case I believe that my EDD by LMP is more accurate. I had very regular cycles, I know when I ovulated, and I can also say with almost 100% certainty when I conceived, but nothing of that counts, it's the measurements that make the date!
So much of this pregnancy lark is based on empiric observations, rather than actual facts (don't even get me started on measuring bumps with a tape measure Hmm).

However, I for one am not complaining, as in my case, this buys me time to make decisions about CVS or amniocentesis.

LondonJen · 03/04/2014 17:15

Stars you are good, I have not spared dp! You should have seen the text messages he got when he dared to take the white bread loaf to work. He had bought another loaf, one of those 50/50 ones. But I can't handle that or brown or granary at the mo as they taste very bitter. I had the nausea piling on because of hunger and found myself without sanwich bread. ROAR! I was not polite. I did try not to be cross when he came home quite late another eve. He was later because he had gone to do a big shop not because he was doing anything wrong poor thing but I was still cross as I wanted him there and to be eating our meal already. I knew I was being unreasonable so did try to stifle it. I blame the hunger too.

The boy things is VERY interesting! I don't mind either way but I have a brother and 2 nephews and dp has two brothers so it'd be nice to have a girl for some balance!

Cor that's a great first symptom! Hurray for closing in on the scan date Smile

Wigwam how tiresome sounds like you know your body (not to mention family history) I do hate processes that can't budge. Sorry now not comp based to do stats on your behalf. Will do later if no-one else has tho x

Hopeful that's an interesting one, do you think your uterus has just budged some of the other organs out of the way instead of them crowding on top of one another? (if you see what I mean!?)

Baking one day?! Hardly worth the ink surely?! Good grief!

Excellent posititve thinking Jbrd I like your style Smile

LondonJen · 03/04/2014 17:24

Wasn't Fedup's scan today? Or have I misremembered? Hoping all is well x

Davmallem2013 · 03/04/2014 18:19

Hello ladies

I again have been AWOL for a week or so & now trying to catch up.

Was good to read all the positivity, glad scans have gone well and welcome to all new people.

stars thanks for your advice re the ELCS, had my appointment with the consultant today although it was the registra as she said the consultant is off sick. Talked things through with her and said my peace (stated my mental issues Grin). She said it will all be down to the consultant and it's too early at the moment to say whether I can have it, but she was pleasant enough so have next appointment with them after my 22wk scan in June.

My 12 wk nuchal scan went good, other than them making me walk, jump around and eat some sugar as the little cherub is already being stubborn and awkward (clearly takes after DH) and was in wrong position for nuchal. After an hour and half finally got 1mm measurement and on seeing registra today she went to get my bloods and they have come back low risk Grin. Would have been very lucky if they were high as my NHS hospital has this week become 1 of 3 that are trialling Harmony testing for free! But better I don't even need it. Sorry to hear all your grief jbrd with your Harmony and blood, I really hope it all gets sorted with some answers and I have everything crossed for you.

Well the NHS scan has moved my due date back 2 days (5th oct) unlike the private consultant at my earlier scans (3rd oct) so am going to see him again hopefully in a few weeks and see what he gives again. News is all out to the family now so I have to start believing it, although it's still hard and think I will have to find the pretend face when speaking to them (they don't know about my ectopic & 2MC's).

Now come on fod I am impatiently waiting for your thread baby Wink

MammySam · 03/04/2014 18:44

Thanks for budging up for me londonJen feel like im getting comfy round here already! ;)

pgchimp · 03/04/2014 19:12

thanks for the reassurance ladies. I might give the hospital a call tomorrow and see what they say. he has of course been much calmer today, which is now also making me worry!

MrsGiraffe12 · 03/04/2014 20:10

Hi ladies. Hope were all well. Once again I've had a crazy week at work and not had ANY free time.

Come on baby fod it's about time you made an appearance :-)

I'm 17+5 now (where has the time gone?!) and have a right little wriggler in there, makes me smile every time I feel him/her :-)

I've updated the stats to include myself as I somehow skip through the net each time I ask to be included (self indulgent whine haha)

Ok I've added myself and Squiz but London if I've done it wrong, or it makes it easier for you to update/repost later please feel free to re-do it .

Wow ladies! Thanks soooo much for all the support and positive vibes! It's soooo lovely of you all.

I've always gone over my EDD, with DS and DD I was over. I think they just get wayyyy too comfy in there ;). I've been bombarded with the 'Any signs' questions from everyone bar my mum (as she also went over) and a friend who is also 7 days over - we have started a daily bitch texting fest - it's something to do I suppose

Well I'm now 2-3cm dilated (closer to 3) the MW said she could feel my waters bulging, baby is still back to back and she said her head is on the spines of my cervix - no idea what that means lol they have booked my induction for next thurs hopefully though that won't be necessary

Hope everyone is well and happy and positive xxxxx

fedupofrainydays · 03/04/2014 21:38

Hi ladies. london yay for good scan news - hurrah!!

Mine is tomorrow and absolutely bricking it. Not least because I got home and needed a no 2. It's not that I'm constipated as I go most days and remember going yesterday but going this time hurt a bit, inside. Afterwards I had really really bad cramps, so bad I felt sick and couldn't stand up. Anyone else had this? Really scary. Took paracetamol and got a hot water bottle on my lower tummy and it's subsided now 3 hrs later. Anyone know what this is? No blood yet bit on major crotch watch now :(

squizita · 03/04/2014 21:56

Having yet more odd sensations. This time, something (uterus or guts) feels big and heavy and like its _'in the way'! Not painful but paranoid it is about to move or empty out. Ddurrrrrr .... Insane! They probs are in each others way!

OP posts:
squizita · 03/04/2014 21:59

Fedup- my poo hates me so much it regularly causes blood on loo roll (cue terror, natch) and horrid pain that terrifies me. Tis mere evil evil devil poop. :)

OP posts:
MabelMay · 03/04/2014 22:20

Hi - could I be included in the stats next time please? Not sure how to do it myself.

MabelMay: 2DS, 1MC, 1MMC EDD 6th November.

Thanks Smile

StarsInTheNightSky · 03/04/2014 22:21

wigwam grrr about the dates! Very annoying.

London that made me laugh so much!!! When I get rage it's just like a red mist descending Grin.

Hopeful I felt like my bump used to change size quite a bit between about 13 and 18 weeks, I used to ask DH on a daily basis if my bump was looking smaller as I got so paranoid about it. I even phoned our consultant and he said(as london suggested) that it was probably just the remains of bloating settling down and all your internal organs jigging into place and making more space in preparation. Hope you're ok xxx.

Dav you're very welcome, I'm really glad it went well today and brilliant news about your scan! Grin. I kept mentioning it to anyone and everyone any time I was at the hospital, so for example, in for reduced movements -told the midwife in great detail about my mental health issues and how worried I was that my ELCS would be refused, the told the community midwife every time I saw her, told the midwife who did my blood tests etc etc, I went really overboard with it. That way it got written down in my notes loads of times that I was extremely anxious and wanted an ELCS, so when the consultant read through my notes he could see how much it had been bothering me over such a long period. That being said, in my experience the registrars were more conservative about my chances of it being agreed than the consultant, who as soon as I walked in at my next appointment got his surgery diary out and said "well stars, when do you want to have your baby?" Shock I nearly collaped in shock as I was expecting a battle! xxx

fod that sounds really positive! Grin Fingers crossed and COME ON FODLETTE!!!!! Grin xxx

fedup I got that exact thing, I actually had it again today and was doubled up with the pain. Our consultant didn't seem particularly concerned and said it was just one of those things, and probably just a strained muscle causing spasms in the gut. When I kept getting it they did investigate but didn't find anything, so just put it down to another one of those annoying pregnancy things send to terrify us Sad. I have coeliac disease though, so my digestive system does play up sometimes anyway, and the hospital dietician said that anyone with IBS, coeliac disease etc does often get phantom gut symptoms in pregnancy for no real reason. I'm not sure if that helps at all, and I would mention it tomorrow if I were you, but it probably is just one of those things xxx

Penguinita · 03/04/2014 22:25

Lol squiz Grin. After my nct breast feeding class last night where they showed us nappy contents I realised evil devil poo is what babies do too!

So happy for your good scan news jen, and thanks so much for updating and tidying up the stats list. It looks much better and it is nice to be moving up the queue.

Welcome mammy, grab a cuppa and join us Brew

pg I don't think my movements have got more frequent but they have definitely got more violent in the last week or two. I think she is feeling a bit claustrophobic in there. But if you are worried you should definitely get it checked out.

I might put the car seat in the car tomorrow while DH is out and see what his reaction is (if he even notices!)

SaggyAndLucy · 03/04/2014 22:38

Go Fod! that sounds promising!
How about getting DH on side for a bit of the other!? You might tip yourself into labour!
or alternatively, do you have a gym ball to bounce on? or a knitting needle Wink

MabelMay · 03/04/2014 22:42

btw, thanks everyone for your reassurance over the over-emotional phase/teariness around the 9 week point. I'd forgotten how much early pregnancy sucks. I mean, obviously it's completely brilliant to be pregnant - but everything it does to your body and emotions. Jeez. And that's before all the awful MC fears etc.

Anyway, I'm fine generally.

mammy welcome! I'm at a very similar stage to you (9 weeks today) and also my symptoms are definitely easing up quite a bit. Not as nauseous or as exhausted. Like you, I find myself worrying when I'm not feeling pregnant 'enough' - but as so many others have said symptoms often do let up a bit at this point, and they could very easily be back soon.

It's a real rollercoaster - early pregnancy after MCs - but this is a wonderful refuge!

What are your symptoms at the moment, if any? Today I just have huge boobs. Tiredness and nausea so far haven't made an appearance.

fedup I think this can happen after a big bowel movement - I even get it in this early PG stage. Poos in pregnancy are not a great thing.

MabelMay · 03/04/2014 22:43

Fod good luck! Hope the little one makes an appearance v. soon. Sounds v promising! My DS1 was two weeks late, and DS2 10 days, so I know how frustrating this bit is.

Thinking of you.

kitkat321 · 03/04/2014 23:09

Stars I almost wish I didn't know!! Last times, I'm pretty sure I was a week late before I got my first bfp - this time I was only 3 days late. I just want to go to sleep and wake up in a few weeks with all still well.

I'm trying to relax about it and think what will be will be. I'm taking some home from the symptoms this time - they are much more pronounced - even at this early stage (will be 5 wks tomorrow) I'm feeling quite sick at times during the day and I cannot stop burping - but at the same time, it reminds me of whats happening which I almost don't want to think about.

I just need to take it one day at a time and hopefully things will be ok!!

fod27 · 03/04/2014 23:29

Hi saggy hope Lucy and family are all well, he's under instructions to do the deed tonight from both myself and MW unfortanetly no ball ;( thanks mabel it's vile, I'm longing to hold her and know that she's well... It's a bit scary this bit isn't it? Xxx

fedupofrainydays · 04/04/2014 06:36

So it's not just me. Phew. I am scared to go to the loo now though (again). Been awake since 5 ish. Worrying about the scan. Thank god it's first thing
