Stars, are they scanning you weekly? With DD2 (who was predicted at 37 weeks to be well over 9lbs and NOT fluid) WAS actually more fluid (she was still 8lb 6oz at 37+5 though!). Could it be you have loads of fluid which is making you measure large?

JBrd · 12/03/2014 09:56

Hi all, sorry for being quiet yesterday, I was so shattered I couldn't muster the strength to come on here!

Had my scan at the FMC, little bean still there, with its heart beating away Smile. Very happy with that result!

Not happy about the fact that they couldn't/wouldn't do the Harmony test there and then because the fetus was too small - they need it to be at least 33mm, but it was 'only' 30.5mm. So I was dated to be 9+6 instead of 10+2. Which doesn't bother me, but was a really big deal for the receptionist who apparently has been drilled to robot-style that for this special combined package, you can only have the blood test up to 10+6 and the nuchal scan has to be exactly two weeks later. No budging, no compromising. I understand that they are collecting data, but come one, life doesn't work like that! I spent ages arguing discussing with her how and when they can fit me in next week, I got really cross. I'm not in the country on Monday, but they were fully booked on Tuesday. And it has to be Tuesday, as that's when I'll be 10+6. It can't be Wednesday.
So they (graciously) squeezed me in on Tuesday. But I'm now so cross that I'm debating if I should do the Harmony test now or rather wait for my results from the 12 week scan and then decide, if I want it Angry

Sorry for the rant, I am just really disappointed with how they treat their patients. There was no compassion or empathy, they did not ask anything about my history etc., all they seemed to care about was getting the right dates and measurements for the Harmony test. I had expected a bit more...

squizita · 12/03/2014 10:02

Jbird as I said over on the October thread Angry at the sour faced receptionist.

Stars Wow, big strong bubs! :) But I guess Shock for you carrying and delivering. Sure they'll know what to do.

OP posts:
bakingtins · 12/03/2014 10:09

jbrd delighted that everything is ok with baby Smile but sounds like their attitude is a bit crap, especially as you are paying £££. I'm sure one day either way really doesn't make a difference.

StarsInTheNightSky · 12/03/2014 10:10

JBrd that brilliant news!!! Grin So pleased for you Grin. It's really bad about the harmony and testing stuff, and I would have expected more too. Angry on your behalf.

bakingtins thank you, that helped reassure my panic of the day Blush x. I was really hoping that him being big was a good thing too.

allisgood the consultant says that it's definitely not fluid as I've been being monitored for low fluid levels. Apparently the fluid levels have been on the low side of normal (which I became terrified about a few weeks ago, trying to relax a bit more now) and I'm being scanned every two weeks (have a lot of other complications too). He is apparently a very long baby too, all measurements and circumferences have always been off the charts, and our due date has been moved forwards time and time again.

StarsInTheNightSky · 12/03/2014 10:12

squiz thanks! I don't think I've ever been more glad that I'm having an ELCS as to when I heard his size predictions! Wink

Davmallem2013 · 12/03/2014 12:09

Struggling to keep up so sorry if I miss mentioning anyone. Good news on scan corp and others. Sorry you had bad time with receptionist jbrd, I take it that is the private people as well which is pretty poor by them! but it's fab the heartbeat is all good etc. I am going to wait to consider the Harmony after my 12 wk scan as I don't want the invasive style if I can help it.

Welcome to newbies, and baxter I am only at the 10+5 milestone but am still a constant knicker checker and expect I always will if I make the full length as permanently worried at every pain I get, I am saying it makes me concerned not mental Grin

stars I hope I can get them to agree the ELCS but I have to wait to have my meetings with the various people yet although my MW has been good and is doing the referrals and says they will help my request, fingers crossed.

fod27 · 12/03/2014 12:09

My last was 9lb 4 and this one is now way off the charts over the centile line - I actually found it easier to deliver the larger babies DS was 8lb 9 and back to back (nightmare labor) but DD was much better as I could feel her more - I had no tears or the need to be cut either / hope that helps somewhat xxx

LoveCharlie · 12/03/2014 12:29

Hi all

I'm new here, just got a BFP last wed after MC in Nov.
Excited but scared. 5 weeks + 2 by my calculations.
I gave my doctors surgery a wee sample on Monday, called back today and was told they normally test in house but they must have been 'unsure' as it was sent to the lab. I have to call back tomorrow or fri. I used 2 clear blue digital tests last week that both said pregnant 1-2 weeks, so I'm definitely pregnant right? I wasn't testing early. I'm worried now so any reassurance would be appreciated!!
Thanks

Emki · 12/03/2014 13:05

Hello ladies - Haven't been on for a few days and so much has happened! Welcome newbies! Great news on scan baking and jbrd sorry though that they were so unhelpful at the FMC.

Hope its a sunny day where you are - does make working a bit easier.

I'm counting down the days till maternity leave now - 6 weeks to go! Is that about the same as you penguin? and baking

saggy are you still about? How is it going? xxx

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 12/03/2014 13:14

Turns out I wasn't being so parinoid about his reduced movements after all yesterday.

I want in for a consultant appointment, she sent me straight off to mau for monitoring. They aren't happy at all, I was strapped up for about an hour until dd2 (2 years old) decided she'd had enough and had an almighty tantrum. They basically wanted her off the unit as she was disrupting other patients Blush consultant reluctantly agreed to let me go home but I have to I back tomorrow for more monitoring and a scan. I was explicitly told not to bring dd2 Sad I didn't know I was going to end up over there and when you put a 2 year behind a clostraphobic cutrtain, tell them they can't have any toys or books because they MUST stay in the waiting room, sit them on an uncomfortable chair for an hour with nothing to do, they're going to kick off. I was very impressed with how week behaved she was considering!

Anyway, back in tomorrow for more monitoring.

JBrd · 12/03/2014 13:57

Cbeebies Oh, you poor thing! That sounds harrowing, hope you're OK? And to have to deal with a 2-year-old on top of that... Hope you'll get a bit of a break soon! Do you get help with DD2? You need to rest!

LoveCharlie They use really cheap tests in GP surgeries, so it might well be that they didn't pick up anything, whereas the CB tests are very sensitive - that would be my explanation. Also, did you give them morning wee or later in the day-wee? The first one is more concentrated, that's why you usually test in the morning. It's all so uncertain at this stage, a couple of days can make a lot of difference. Hope they'll confirm your BFP soon!

bakingtins · 12/03/2014 16:04

Hi Emki - yes finishing end of April, can't come soon enough. I guess I should actually start preparing to have a baby, have done absolutely nothing so far except buy a new-to-me pram chassis to replace our broken one. Too busy planning DS2's Peter Pan party though to worry about details like having a baby 3 weeks afterwards!

Baxter2014 · 12/03/2014 17:07

Thank you for the lovely welcome. Its so great to hear all your positive stories!

DH thought it would be a good idea to do a CB digital test last night..we had one remaining and haven't done one during pregnancy. During the PG that I MC it did not get above 1-2wks on the conception indicator. Well the one I did last night came up at 3+ even though I'm not even 5 weeks yet so we have taken this as a good sign (even tho a little bit of me is panicking about it being too high and therefore must be a molar pregnancy!) Although I know the indicators are not hugely reliable.

It interesting to hear peoples stories about what people/family members say to you following a MC. Its amazing how insensitive people can be. We did not tell anyone but a couple of close friends about the MC but am planning on telling some family about this PG this weekend...we figured if it does go wrong we need the support cos I dont think we can put a brave face on it again. Not going to tell everyone till after the 12wk scan though.

5 weeks tomorrow...my first milestone is 6 weeks and time is already dragging!

stars I hope I can grow a baby as big and strong as yours Wink but ouch for delivery!!

CorporeSarnie · 12/03/2014 17:22

Hi all, sorry to hear your experience at FMC JBrd, very disappointing - having not often paid for HC I have quite high expectations of the level of service they should provide (and it is an expensive test too).
cbeebies, that sounds awful, they must have known that you hadn't planned to sit in a cubicle with DD for hours and that you wouldn't do that had you a choice Angry on your behalf imagining how well badly my DD would cope with similar.
love I agree with JBrd, they use the IC type of test, which are quite sensitive but can also be quite open to interpretation (the 'squinting' type of result) when you're only a few days late. If they were really concerned they'd call you in for a blood HCG so I am sure they just got a low level line. Agree over FMU as well - if you take a random urine sample in the HCG levels are lower than morning wee.
No news here except a stinking cold, which is a bit mis but trying to get on with it all. Stupidly went to a lunchtime meeting and grazed on a few bits, then an offsite meeting, got back to my office 4.30 pm STARVING!!!

Emki · 12/03/2014 17:23

baking I've done nothing either - I'm still very nervous about buying anything .... however have been looking at prams on ebay also promised I will sort through DD's baby clothes over next couple of weeks ......

cbeebies what a traumatic experience - how many weeks are you now? Thinking of you xxxx

MabelMay · 12/03/2014 17:35

Baxter, LoveCharlie - Hi - I'm 5.4 weeks pregnant so at v similar stage to both of you. Had two MCs last year so in an almost constant state of paranoia. Boobs have stopped hurting so that sent me into a wave of anxiety, as did finding some weird tissue in my wee a couple of times. But I do feel nauseous and tired, - that's the only small indicator (apart from the bfp of course!) that I'm actually pregnant. The time is going incredibly slowly. Anyway, here for hand-holding and for having my hand held!

Everyone else I'm way behind but hope you're all well and babies are still healthy and sticky - congrats on your scan JBrd.

I never did get a call back from my doctor about the flesh-coloured tissue but it hasn't made an appearance in the last two days so am just keeping on keeping on and hoping that the time flies before my early scan (which is on 27th March when I'll be 7.5 weeks).

Am hoping it's normal that boobs are less sore than they were when I initially found out I was PG. Am also fidning new reasons to be paranoid. LIke most of my twinges are coming from one side of my abdomen, so now I'm all like 'huh. maybe it's ectopic...' oh lord, save me from this lunacy. Anyone else had ectopic paranoia?

CorporeSarnie · 12/03/2014 19:13

Hi Mabel, I remember having similar in my 1st pregnancy (DD, currently sitting beside me scarfing down pitta and hummus). I have no experience of ectopic, no doubt one of the others here will know more, but I suspect ectopic pregnancies are more than twinges. Am at a similar stage (5?6) from yesterday's scan, agreed this bit of waiting is nerve-wracking.

squizita · 12/03/2014 19:14

Mabel my twinges are always one sided until 7 weeks or slo because the ovary I ovulate from gets a big luteal cyst (not medically a problem, the cyst actually regulates hormones) and swells up for some reason. :) Neither an issue. If it gets painful obviously see a doc though, for safety, but apparently many women have this.

OP posts:
MabelMay · 12/03/2014 19:20

Thanks for reassurances corpore and squiz - I vaguely remember similar from previous (successful) pregnancies but they were a while ago (my youngest is 6) and I wasn't the paranoid ex-MCer that I am now so was probably paying far less attention to all the twinges/symptoms etc. Like you say, it's not painful, just the odd twinge, so hopefully nothing to worry about.

corpore how come you had such an early scan? Glad all looking good so far in these slow, early days.

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 12/03/2014 19:37

Emki, I'm 31+4 and corpore, there's noway I would have taken her if I'd known it was going to be so long, it was meant to be a routine appointment, in and out in less than an hour.

mabel, honestly twinges are normal, they get more noticable the more children you have too, so if this is pregnancy 3 or 4 (you say youngest is 6 so I assume there is more than one child already?) you would feel them much more, its like the after pains and braxton hicks, with each child you become more aware and feel it more xx

MabelMay · 12/03/2014 19:48

cbeebies Not including miscarriages it's pregnancy 3; pregnancy 5 incl. MCs. I have two DSs (aged 6 and 8) - that's good to know - thanks for the reassuring info!

Honey786 · 12/03/2014 20:22

Hello Ladies! Checking in after a very long time, I do apologise but I've not enjoyed my pragnancy like others have, always one thing after another. Not long for me now, counting the days, I'm 34+4 weeks. I have been hovering around here and there but not posted til now.

Need some hand holding today from u wonderful women, it's been exactly a year today since my miscarraige and have been feeling so sad and emotional about it. I am so grateful for the position that I'm in now but I can't help think that's it's too good to be true and that something is going to go wrong!

CorporeSarnie · 12/03/2014 20:53

Hi honey, sad that you have cause to be here, but glad you've posted. The dates just don't stop do they... next week marks the EDD for our MC and I know it is going to be a tough day for me.
You are so near to holding your new baby, try to cling to that thought. We will never forget our lost babies, but we've been lucky enough to get another chance at pregnancy. Fingers crossed for an entirely dull remainder of your pregnancy.
Mabel, longish story, was in midst of investigation into luteal phase bleeds post-MC when got BFP. Was booked for gynae scan, they asked me to come anyway but as was so early this triggered EPU process due to observation of empty sac. EPU scan yday confirmed heartbeat Smile. Not sure I'd recommend the process though, has already been quite a busy and scary few weeks.

fedupofrainydays · 12/03/2014 21:40

I got af on the due date of my mc, really broke me, it was horrendous. I had always wanted to be pregnant by it, but clearly failed on that one. But as corp says they will never be forgotten for any of us. And no matter how pregnant we are we won't forget how horrible mc was and how frightening any subsequent pregnancy will be. honey it's hard but you are so close now just a few weeks to go til you are holding your baby. You will always feel emotional about the lost little one, and that's ok. But hold on to that imminent arrival of your snuggly newborn!!

I feel crampy this pm. And cm was really dark yellow. I'm scared of what colour it might go :(
