Thnaks for the info Julez. I was tested for factor V Leiden but was negative. I am seeing a private consultant at this stage for the very reason that I was concerned that the NHS may not do all that can be done (even though I work for the NHS and this seems rather disloyal, I know this can unfortunately be the truth), and it seems this is what happened in your case? I think my consultant will tell me to stop the injections if absolutely nothing is found on the blood tests.

Afternoon everyone, hope you are all keeping well.

I'm fine; looking forward to my first hospital ante-natal class tomorrow. Labour 1 - so I'm guessing it may be a bit of a cliff-hanger...

Nicola, hope the injections aren't proving too bruising - when do you get the final decision from the consultant on what they suggest.

And Julez - that's great getting to 16 weeks, glad you're feeling a it more relaxed now (says she, not fully relaxed at 32 weeks!)

Nicola63 · 05/09/2006 18:00

The bruising is indeed getting much less (also maybe I was just doing it badly to begin with and am now a bit better at it!?). I have to phone the doctor tomorrow and discuss with him. Part of me wnats to carry on having the injections whatever, as it at least feels like I am DOING something that may make the outcome different this time. I know already the doc believes the thyroid tablets more important than the fragmin for me, though.

twocatsonthebed · 05/09/2006 18:07

Nicola, I know exactly what you mean about wanting to Do Something - spot the people who are used to organising and sorting out problems! For me the aspirin is very important in the same way. (And I also think that it can make a difference - I have one friend with a history of two years of infertility and miscarriage, who conceived within the first month of taking aspirin, in my case it took two!)

2GIRLS · 06/09/2006 12:53

Hi, all. Babycakes just read your post I've been away I hope everything is ok, what happened at the scan (sorry if you've posted on another thread already) I hope you don't mind me asking but thinking about you.

I had my other scan a week ago and to my total amazement there it was with a heartbeat! I was so sure that it was all going to go wrong and still can't really work out how it was only 7weeks (eight now) because of my dates I was 1+4 weeks behind but everything had grown as it should in the 2 weeks between scans, so I'm trying to think positively, which is not easy at all...

Good luck to everyone on this thread

SKYTVADICT · 06/09/2006 13:27

Hello i'm new. 6 weeks pregnant today I hope. I have two DDs 10 and 6 and had a missed mc in April this year with a new DP. We waited three months (as told) and got pregnant again after two cycles. Most days are good days but some days I get really worried it will happen again.

I've joined the due in May 07 thread very tentatively in the hope that being optimistic will help this little one stay with us

Nicola63 · 06/09/2006 13:33

Just spoke to my consultant on the phone. He says there is nothing found on my clotting or antibody tests, and there is no definite reason to continue on the fragmin, but I can if I wnat to. I just feel I want to, at least up to twelve weeks, and he is OK about this. It may just be a placebo effect, but I just feel I want to. (I am myself medical, and am well aware that there is no real scientific reason, but I am going to do it anyway).

He thinks that the thyroid control is much more important, and we are going to keep a close eye on this. I am going to see him next week, and also have an early scan (will be 6 and a half weeks then). I am terrified about that, remembering the bad news I have received at two scans in the past. I just have to take it day to day I suppose.

2girls, congratulations on the heartbeat. I hope that will be me soon.

Hello again after a bit of a break, we?ve been away. Lovely holiday, rather destroyed at the end by a humdinger of a cold. Then a particularly tragic funeral? Have been catching up a bit on people?s news: mia and babycakes, I?m so sorry? Glad to see others are doing well though, and welcome to new people.
I?d really appreciate some advice from you all. I?m 10+2 today, which is just when I started to get a bit of spotting last time, which was the sign of a missed miscarriage. I had thought that I?d find a scan really reassuring at this point, and in a way I still think I might, but I?m very torn about it. On the one hand I?d really like to know that everything is going well. On the other, my husband is a bit unhappy about the idea of yet another scan (and I agree that lots of scans of healthy babies are a poor idea), my nuchal scan is at 12+4, so not that far away, and, and maybe this is most important, if we did find at a scan that I?d had another missed miscarriage, then where does that leave me? Either having to have a d&c, which terrifies me, or having to wait, which sounds agonising. I feel that I?m arguing myself out of it, but I seem to have to have this argument with myself every day ? any advice?

wools · 06/09/2006 14:09

Hi everyone. Welcome Skytvaddict and congratulations.

Littlefrog - I know how you feel but think I would be tempted to wait for the Nuchal scan. If you haven't had any miscarriage symptoms there's probably not a lot of point to a scan at this stage - you'll feel reassured for a short while and then the doubts will come back.

2girls - great news on the heartbeat!

Nicola - glad your cons said you can stay on them, as for the bruising I think it depends on how the injection goes in and how fast the liquid is pushed in I still get bruises some days now but mostly not on other days if that makes sense!

Mygirllolipop - sorry you argued with DH, me and dp argued last night too, he seemed to have forgotten this morning when i woke up he was cuddling me awww then i ran to throw up!

Had my cons appt today, he doesnt want to see me now till 11th oct, Ill be 21 weeks then, then i will see him again at 28 weeks to moniter the growth of baby (ds stopped growing at 28 weeks!)

They took all my bloods, inc tripple test. How long should we expect to wait for the results? Anyone know? They did them all at once cos I have silly veins apparently so they only stabbed me once till 28 weeks!

Anyway i gotta go get my baby from his first day at school, gawd I missed him!

take care all x x

twocatsonthebed · 06/09/2006 15:53

Afternoon all, and welcome skytvaddict - wishing you all the best for this time round.

Nicola - I know just what you mean about scans. The first one I ever had was after I'd started spotting, and the missed miscarriage was diagnosed. Ever since then, I go into every scan thinking that I am about to get the worst news. Oddly enough, I was almost relieved after the 20 week scan that there wouldn't be any more.

Littlefrog - only you really know whether the scan will help or not. I was personally desperate to get an early scan, but only because I didn't want to go through another missed miscarriage, and in particular the weeks of thinking I was pregnant when I wasn't, iyswim. But I never found the scans particularly reassuring - I still worried almost as much after them, pretty much until I could feel the baby move. But like I said, only you can tell what will work for you.

2girls - that's great news on the heartbeat. You must be so pleased.

glad to hear everyone else is doing well, even if arguing with dh's. How far along are you now, mygirl?

Had our first ante-natal class this morning, which was better than I'd expected, although the rather graphic description of tearing was enough to send one bloke out of the room...I can't say I was finding it that much fun either. Hey ho.

Yes, I am rather phobic about scans. The first one I ever had was when I found out I was miscarrying twins, while I was away in Australia on a business trip. Totally unexpected, had never even thought of the possibility of m/s to that point, was in a totally joyful state and it came as a total shock. A horrible time, far away from home, and it was two days before my wedding. Hard to forget the feeling, and so I am always scared of scans after that.

The next pg I had several early scans which showed little, and then a 7 week scan which showed I was m/c again. Because of this I know that a scan at the stage I am at now (5 weeks) would not reassure me in any way and so would be a waste of time. I am going to have one late next week, my obstetrician insists. I refused to have one earlier. If I were you littlefrog, I would wait. But you must do whatever feels right for you.

hi everyone,
I'm back from my hols, and have had a quick snoop through the thread..

Nicola63 & skytv - hooray! So, so delighted to see you on here - congratulations!

I'm going for another scan tomorrow, I'm nearly at the 16 week mark now so past the time I lost the last baby. Feeling a bit more relaxed now, but still worry myself sick about the scan. Also, still feeling exhausted- where is this 2nd trimester burst of energy I was so hoping for?!

Hope everyone else is well...

Nicola63 · 07/09/2006 12:37

Hi www, I remember when you got your bfp, nice to "see" you again! Very best wishes for your scan tomorrow. I am dreading mine next week. I feel anxious all the time and am trying hard not to.

DH, who is working away from home at the moment, is coming home for his birthday tomorrow. Can't wait!

The bad news is that I didn't start to feel better until about 18 or 19 weeks, and didn't feel wholly normal until about 21 or so - and even then, I wouldn't exactly have described it as a burst of energy, more a remission from feeling like warmed over leftovers. But the good news is that lasted a bit longer - it's only in the last couple of weeks that I've started to feel tired and crabby again.

And hope all the scans and appointments go well for everyone - www tomorrow and Nicola and mygirl next week.

I had an odd burst of what I thought were Braxton Hicks last night (but then what do I know, I wouldn't recognise a Braxton Hicks if it leapt up and bit me in the knee), which came and went and were a bit painful - enough so for me to start timing them, at which point they went away. Anyway, phoned the midwives today, who said, no, definitely shouldn't be painful (these were like period pains, with backache), get yourself checked out for a urine infection (I haven't got one) and if it happens again, get yourself down to the delivery unit. The last bit of which has put the fear of god into me. I AM NOT READY YET. And I'm going to London tomorrow, for my last hurrah as an unencumbered metropolitan type (posh lunch, posh tea, posh haircut in between), after which I shall retire back to Somerset and wear nothing but tweeds and wellies. And if I end up in some delivery unit in London, I will be even more pissed off.

wools · 08/09/2006 00:57

Good luck everybody due to have scans.

Twocats - I've heard that sometimes Braxton Hicks can be a bit painful so I'm sure there's not too much to worry about. Enjoy your trip to London.

just back from my scan - and it was the best yet! The doc actually said that everything was PERFECT!!! Yippee!! I can't tell you how much more relaxed I feel now, baby was moving about so much and looks like it's growing so well. I'm totally thrilled.

How's everyone else today?

WWW - great news! a nice sonographer with a proper bedside manner can make all the difference. I am sure the way the sonographer behaved last time is part of the reason why I am still so chipper, 3 weeks after the 13 week scan! I'm delighted for you. How long along are you? you're just ahead of me, no?
