Hello all. Yay!!!!!!!!! I am finally here!!!!!
I am now ready to introduce myself officially on this thread...(gulp, I hope I am not tempting fate).
I am 6 weeks today and went to the doctors this morning to get a referral to the EPU for next week. Initially he was reluctant and said they only referred if there seemed to be an issue, so I told him that I have been spotting over the last 7 days (which I have, but I didn't think it was anything serious) at which point he sat upright and got me an appointment for an hour later. So I had the scan this morning and they managed to see the heartbeat!! I burst into tears, obviously, and have another one booked for when I'm 9 weeks which is when I miscarried last time. The nurses at the epu are lovely.

Mumpbump, I think you asked about scans earlier, well mine was initially an external one but they could only see that there was something there so they asked if I wanted an internal and that showed up the tiny wee thing more clearly. The crown-rump length is 4.9mm, but I could definitely see the flicker of the heart. I think I was lucky to see the heart at this stage though as it can't be guaranteed at 6 weeks.

I am at work at the moment and that means I can only pop on for a really short while so will need to check another time who is around but I look forward to seeing all the old names from the ttc thread as well as all the new ones when I have time. I can't face joining an antenatal thread for a long while yet - that is definitely tempting fate.

I have been trying to cope by setting targets, but my next target now is the 9 week scan which is too far away - I don't know how I'm going to get through the next 3 weeks till then.

I must say I am so happy to find this thread. I think the support you find on mn is so brilliant, so thanks to all for being both kind and helpful to people who are mostly unknown to you. It is good have an anonymous voice too. Somehow this can be easier sometimes, especially if you are trying to hide your pg.

I think I am going to try and wangle an early scan somehow. Only 4 1/2 weeks pg and already the suspense is killing me.
Timefortea, I think you are right mn and keeping busy is the way to go. Luckily I have a DS to keep me occupied. Do you practice meditation?

hope all ok today. am very loopy trying to do nesting - clearing out cupboards etc, standing over DH to make him get going with chores. Completely entirely out of character - usually i am the laziest houseworker imaginable. Just shows what hormones can do.

wishing you all well, esp. all of you in the early days.although it never gets easy, it is easier when you can feel movement. I've noticed that my big beanie gets very enthusiastic when mummy gets a hug or a cuddle - again, must be hormones. after a day getting at DH we had a big hug and beanie was full of beans

rubles · 04/02/2007 09:51

I wish I was nesting time4tea I loved that time. It was probabaly the only time in my life when every single cupboard in the house was meticulously organised - it all unravelled pretty quick after the birth though!

I am pleased to say that I was sick yesterday...I know it doesn't mean much necessarily but psychologically it helps me feel more pregnant which is good. My dd who is 3 in May said (very bizarrely because I haven't told her anything) that I was sick because there was a baby in my tummy and it was going to grow big. I don't know why she said that but it was weird. I hope she's right and it will grow big.

We went out for an anniversary meal last night. Unfortunately I only managed a few sprigs of asparagus for the starter, and the salad accompaniment to the main course. I left the rest. I felt a bit guilty to dp because the meal cost £90, but I really couldn't face anything else.

By the way, does anyone know of any really good websites that tell you the size of the foetus and what to expect?

I hope everyone is well and happy.

hello Rubles, I think the best book ever - for nice photos, lots of medically sound info, lots of reassurance for anyone dealing with pg after mc is a Dorling Kindersley book by Lesley Regan, your pregnancy week by week. really excellent - i've recommended it so many times!

nesting was frustrating yesterday, we really needed help moving a sofa before we could deal with cots or anything else, and despite a few friends offering - any help you need, we will do - they were all dithering about whether or not they would come. I was feeling really upset about it! even though my rational brain was thinking that of course other people have their own priorities. Somehow it seemed a bit rubbish to make an offer of help and then not follow through with actually doing it. then another friend came with her DS, and when her DH came to pick her up, he just came from football practice with 2 other chaps - so problem solved. Amazing how powerful the nesting instinct is, and how tigerish I became when thwarted. DH is a bit nervous of me now

PS Rubles, what a sweet thing from your little girl she'll be a lovely big sister

news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4121411.stm

Link to the BBC pregnancy timeline (sorry can't do proper links!!) It is on the health page at the bottom, if you are looking for it.

Not sure if I've posted on here yet or not and like Rubles, not sure if I'm tempting fate. For those who don't know/remember me, I had 2 mc last year, one in Feb and one in Dec. Conceived 2 weeks after mc in Dec, which was a shock (lovely, but unexpected!). anyway, have had a very small amount of red spotting on Saturday, so really scare this pg is going wrong as well. I'll be 6 weeks tomorrow. Think I'll try and see the GP tomorrow and get a referral to the EPU for as soon as possible. When I saw the doctor last week to tell them I was pg, she couldn't have cared less that I'd had 2 mc and wouldn't ask for me to have an early scan. I'm going to worry until I see at heartbeat and even then carry on worrying, but it hopefully will make me relax a bit. Anyway (if this bleeding didn't mean anything serious), I've made it further than my last mc already, which was around 5 weeks), so now my next milestone is 9 weeks, when I had my 1st missed mc.

It is so good to hear positive stories from all you on here, who've had mc and are now pg again.

Take care
x

Good morning everyone.

Fettle - hey you. I wondered how you were doing, but guessed you were lying low in the early days.
The doc was the same with me until I told him I had spotting last week and then he completely changed his tune. I think you absolutely need to push for that early scan. Good luck. I hope that the spotting is just one of those things for you too - it can be quite, quite normal.

time4tea · 05/02/2007 08:03

great that more familiar names from the TTC thread are here. good luck Fettle (used to be Babyfettle?) and Rubles.

quite bad pains in tum last night - I'm pretty sure caused by a) wind and b) weak muscles when I roll over in bed or sneeze. seeing mw today to check, but baby still booting away so seems fine.

lissielou · 05/02/2007 08:04

Morning All

Well GP surgery didn?t know rules about EPU ? EPU said I needed a GP referral, so I?ve got an appointment for 1st thing tomorrow morning.

Had no more spotting ? my temp is still up and I did another test this morning, which went positive straightaway. Have constant low level nausea ? that turns to wretching at the slightest thing, so hoping that morning sickness and not a bug!! Poor DD was quite concerned with me this morning ? I was only taking off her wet overnight nappy!! I did try and cover it up by pretending I was making silly noises, but she still looked at me, like I?d fallen out of a tree!!

Thanks for your support.

T4T ? I?m sure the pains aren?t anything to worry about ? it is good that he?s moving lots ? I can?t wait to have that feeling of movement again. I loved it ? a secret little world growing inside me.

Anyway, I really must get on with some work ? hope everyone else is doing ok.

Back later, when I have more time!
x
