Hello all, Had some really bad news yesterday. Was wondering if any of you guys had anything similar. I went for my weekly scan yesterday and the crl has not changed since last week, no heartbeat could be found and they can see 2 amniotic sacs but only 1 embryo. I think my hormone levels may be dropping as although I still feel really sick. The tenderness in my breasts has pretty much completely gone. Sorry to give you my bad news but I am really really worried.

typhoonsmum · 19/11/2006 15:50

I don't know your history. I take it from two amniotic sacs your are having twins. Only one embryo, could you have lost one and not the other. That wold send your hormone levels down.

I know a few people who were pregnant with twins but due to one thing or another they lost one and continued to have a healthy single pregnancy.

What did the sonographer say?

Sunshyne · 20/11/2006 09:20

Hi Typhoonsmum, Thanks for your response. I am supposed to be 6 weeks and 3 days today. The sonographer said that it looks like a missed m/c. The embryo hasn't grown for 3 weeks neither has the gestational sac. My hormone levels seem to be back up again today. I really don't know what is going on.

sunshyne...my thoughts are with you. Try to keep positive...you hear so many stories of things turning out OK in spite of bleeding etc. Hope it's good news.

time4tea · 20/11/2006 13:47

hoping for the best for you Sunshyne XXXX

Daisybump · 20/11/2006 14:27

Firststar......if you've been used to the exercise then you should be OK....but only read that in terms of pg generally, don't know if that holds for previous mc...suppose it depends on what the cause was. If your doc thinks it's OK you should be fine, but if it was me I'd take it easy...tell your friend you've hurt your back or something. My reaction this time was to put my feet up as soon as I found out I was pg and stopped my regular swimming sessions. I know this to be irrational (if it's gonna happen, it will and all that), but I wasn't taking any chances. Now I've passed the 10 week mark and all is looking fine, I'm going to start swimming again soon...well.. as soon as the constant fatigue allows!!

I am ever the optomist. My boss haemmaaraged ( I can't spell) in early pregnancy and was signed off sick for the rest of it. Her pregnancy is now 16yrs old. They say she lost one twin.
My best friend had the same thing. Bled and lost one twin the other is now 9 years old and doing fine.
Don't want to build your hopes up for no reason but it may not be all bad.

Sunshyne · 20/11/2006 17:03

Thanks for all your kind words of support . Only another 2 1/2 hours until my scan and chat with the consultant. I will let you know how it goes in the morning. Fingers and toes crossed.

typhoonsmum · 20/11/2006 19:36

Sunsyhne scan must be around now. I feel for her.
Had to mention my pregnancy in work as I work on a day surgery ward and has to push patients back from theatre as much as 10 times a day. I tried to just avoid doing it today but people were getting bitchy so I had to say something.
One lady suggested that I take aspirin as I have lost a few pregnancies. I thought Aspirin was bad for pregnancy. Haven't took any till I checked it out first.
Has anyone heard of this.

time4tea · 20/11/2006 20:14

Hello Typhoonsmum,

from other posters on this and the TTC after MC thread, I think this only applies if you have been diagnosed with a particular syndrome and are prescribed it by a doctor (it is the sort of thing they do at the recurrent miscarriage clinic at St Mary's) I certainly wouldn't do it without advice from your own doctor.. especially as asprin isn't recommended for normal painkilling in pg women (although paracetamol is OK, from what I can find from the websites...) It might be an idea to talk to your manager, it isn't right for you to do anything that might put you and your baby at risk, they are obliged to move you to other duties if your normal job is dangerous.

typhoonsmum · 21/11/2006 07:29

there are other things i can do on the ward but the trolley pushing is a big thing. I'll probably end up doing more clerical things or moved to the outpatients clinic. Which i don't mind cause I hate the ward at the moment. Wouldn't be to upset if it was bombed.

Hello everyone,

Thankyou for all of the lovely wishes - I almost cried when I read them all. We're now back at home after a slightly roller-coaster first week of feeding problems for her and bladder problems for me. But it's all fine now and I will post a proper birth announcement with all of the tedious detail later on.

Sorry to hear that all of the news hasn't been good while I've been away, but my love and best hopes to you all.

Daisybump · 21/11/2006 13:03

Sunshyne...so so sorry to hear your news . I hope yoou habe the strength to re-group and try again. Big hugs xx

typhoonsmum · 21/11/2006 19:05

I'm so sorry Sunshyne. Hope you have better luck next time round.

twocatsonthebed · 22/11/2006 18:03

Birth Announcement as promised. Rather more dramatic than I would have liked, but still worth every bit for the end result. And at least the whole thing only lasted six hours! Am healing surprisingly well now, and so relieved to be out of hospital that I am loving being at home, even with the sleep deprivation.

Juicylucythe2nd · 23/11/2006 09:33

Well survived twocats - sounds like you gave all the birthing options available a good try.

Glad you're home and now able to enjoy the results of all that hard work
