Hello ladies,

Well I'm still here. Booked in for induction tomorrow morning at 8.30am unless things happen overnight. Will update you all as soon as I can.
Going to try and have a relaxing evening starting right now with a lovely lavender bath.

twocatsonthebed · 17/10/2006 17:58

oh wools! Good luck for tomorrow - or, even better, good luck for tonight. Can't wait to hear the news

Good luck wools hope everything goes really well and will see you on the postnatal thread soon xxxxxxxxxx

Munchkin28 · 17/10/2006 22:58

Hi All, I haven't been on here for a while, so just catching up with everyone.

Wools, I hope everything goes OK. Fingers crossed. xx

I had an appointment with my lovely midwife yesterday and as I was so worried after the last mc (blighted ovum) she suggested that we tell a little white lie that I was bleeding so that I could get an early scan. I did manage to get a scan this afternoon and I am pleased to report that I am now holding on to my scan picture of a perfectly healthy foetus. I was so relieved!
I hope everyone else is doing OK?

Lots of hugs,
Emma. 8+4

Good luck wools! (not that you're likely to read this before as it's 8.20 already)

Hope it's all going well for her today...

Munchkin -that's great news, and what a lovely sympathetic midwife. You must be really pleased.

Littlefrog - good to hear from you too. It is so hard to believe i a pregnancy after what has happened before, and I don't think you're at all alone in feeling like that. It took me until about 30 weeks and getting really serious kicks before I truly relaxed. But I think half the battle is understanding why it's going on - even if it doesn't make it entirely go away. Hope the lecturing went OK, I was so tired at 16 weeks that I was practically signed off work...

Mygirl, have fun with your midwife.

And t4t - good work on the puddings. Keep it up!

I've had another odd night of achey pain - under different circumstances, I'd be expecting my period to start today! But it's definitely not contractions, so I don't know if it's the baby moving around even more (how much lower can it go?!?) or a long slow start to something proper. Any advice or clues welcome!

julezboo · 18/10/2006 11:01

2cats - they say the babys movement slow right down just before labour hon! Not sure how true this is lol never been there!

Wools good luck today!

I saw my midwife, was a bit pointless tbh considering I almost lost my life and my baby the last time I had a baby they dont seem to concerned, Ive been to see GP today for a referral to a different doctor up in Bristol who knows alot about pre eclampsia, so hopefully that should be through soon.

How is everyone else?

Julie 22wks

twocatsonthebed · 18/10/2006 11:06

In which case I shall try to get on with the week and pretend it's not happening!

Well done on getting a separate referral - I'm not surprised you want some reassurance, and some specialist care. Whereabouts are you if you're going up to Bristol - I'm in Somerset!

Hello all, I'm new to mumsnet. I'm 20 weeks, had the big scan yesterday - all OK! Hate scans because two years ago was told at my 12 week one that the baby had died - the day before I was getting married! NOT nice. V grateful to conceive again, though, and as each day passes I have slightly less fear and worry. My mum had three first trimester losses and went on to have three healthy kids, so i guess the message to all of us is: MCs are crap but they happen - and they don't mean that we'll be childless.

twocatsonthebed · 21/10/2006 10:16

nope, still here! just too big and too tired to do anything for the last couple of days. But seem to have perked up a bit today, which is a relief, as I was starting to bore myself... Am off to buy a large pile of trashy books today!

Welcome to Ettena - and hello again to Andi, good to hear from you, and good luck for Monday.

Hello everybody.

Firstly a big apology on taking so long to get back to you. Our computer system was down so this is the first chance I've had.

Our baby daughter was born on Thursday morning at 6.44 weighing in at 7 pounds and 10 ounces. She is called Orla and is beautiful.

I went in to hospital on Wednesday to be induced - finally had the gel put in at about midday - nothing much happened until 5pm when contractions came on..all was okay and managed to cope on a tens machine. Didn't start dilating until 2am on Thursday morning by which time contractions were really bad and tens machine was not doing the business. Midwife examined me and said I was only 1cm to 2cms - I could have cried. Anyway, pains got really bad and after 2 hours I called her back demanding pain relief (as I was on antenatal ward they couldn't give me anything) she re-examined me and I was 9cms. Was rushed to labour ward whereupon I was fully dilated and told to start pushing. Found this really hard as the labour to me had been long. I pushed for 1 and half hours and eventually I couldn't do too much more. It was decided on a ventouse to help deliver the baby which thankfully worked.

I'm still in shock that I did it not only without an epidural (not something I would normally dream of) but no gas and air either...it was too late.

I am breastfeeding her but not finding it very easy (cracked nipples) but will try and persevere.

I hope everybody else is doing okay especially twocats and Mygirl - not long for either of you now. I shall keep looking on here for news of you both.

Welcome to the newbies and good luck to everyone.

Congratulations, wools! Terrific news. Orla is a beautiful name! Is she named after anyone? Hope you're feeling well and enjoying these precious days with your gorgeous new daughter.

Much love xxx

twocatsonthebed · 23/10/2006 09:18

wools - fantastic news, and orla is such a pretty name. I'm hoping that the fact that you got through the induction without industrial pain relief also means that it wasn't too bad in the end. Hope the breast feeding settles down too and you can relax and really enjoy her.
