Congratulations Smole and welcome. I hope you'll get the support you need on this thread. It sounds like you've got through the initial worrying stage but I guess the worries with all of us ladies who've had miscarriages continue throughout pregnancy. My nuchal test was 1 in 88 and I waited for 20 week scan also, which luckily didn't pick anything sinister up but I still worry and I'm due to give birth tomorrow!!!!

wools · 11/10/2006 17:39

Hi ladies,

Back from my hospital appointment. Have had a scan which has confirmed baby is definately head down so I don't know why midwife thought the baby had spun around the other way. Anyhow, all is cool although have been persuaded to have induction next Wednesday if things haven't happened by then. DH and I will be eating a curry tonight to try and persuade baby to come naturally. Will buy pineapple tomorrow in the vain hope it may help.

twocatsonthebed · 11/10/2006 18:51

excellent news, wools - and a week to worry about getting them out naturally, so all good. Enjoy the curry!

Welcome smole and monalisasmile both - as mygirl says, there are lots of new people on here at the same sort of stage as you - and lots of us old lags as well, who've also been through the same worries and stresses. Hope these pregnancies go well for you.

Mygirl - that sounds like about the last thing you need at this stage in proceedings - is it still sore? And how are you doing otherwise?

Littlefrog - glad you're well, but the builders sound like a bit less fun now that the weather's turned - how much longer have you got to go?

How are the rest of you getting on?

morning all,

just about to head off for my scan (20+6 today!)..excited but nervous...not fonding out the sex but I'll be having a damn good look for myself!

Hope everyone else is ok...welcome to all newbies and congratulations! It's lovely here.

Will write more later and give you all an update. Fingers crossed for me and bubs, please!

lots of love xxx

wools · 13/10/2006 07:40

Good luck WWW with scan today - how exciting.

Mygirl - yes was a bit miffed with the midwife getting position wrong. I know though we all make mistakes and she must have genuinely thought baby was breech. My blood pressure went right up due to all the palaver. I'm glad your blister is going down.

Hope everybody is doing okay...had another terrible night's sleep and feel like the walking dead today.

Am due at hospital for a ctg trace today - getting fed up now - and wishing things would start happening.

Mygirl - yes trace because I'm overdue and over 40. They wanted to induce me yesterday but I managed to hold off for a week and I now have to go back every 2 days to be monitored until induction next Wednesday. Sorry to hear about your blister. Exciting about homepack though.

weewilliewinkie · 13/10/2006 12:36

scan went very well - good fun! The doc was teasing us, saying, 'I know what you're having!' but we still didn't find out. Had a good look and couldn't make it out at all! Everything was looking great, all in the right places.

Wools - I know it's frustrating, but at least you know it'll happen someday soon! Your baby can't stay in there forever....

www - that's great news about the scan. Hope you can start to relax into the pregnancy a bit now.

wools - am a bit {hmm] about your hospital - I'm 40 and did start with consultant care, but only because of miscarriage history - they said that my age wasn't an issue at all. Hope that everything takes its own course before they start getting adamant.

mygirl - it must be starting to feel real with the homebirth stuff coming. We got the TENS machine in the post today. I think DH is quite pleased that there is a bit of electronic kit for him to be responsible for!

I'm now 37+2. No sign of a nesting urge, although I am cooking vast quantities of food to go in the freezer (which may be as close to a cleaning instinct as I am ever going to get in my life) and finally putting the box of old tat that has been sitting around for ages onto eBay. At this rate, I'll run out of things to do next week... drums fingers on desk anxiously...

wools · 13/10/2006 16:03

WWW - Congratulations on your scan. Sit back and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy now.

Twocats and Mygirl - was at hospital today for ctg which all went fine and the 4 midwives I saw there all echoed what you say. They were angry that due to my age I was being treated differently to other mums under 40. All said I should have stuck to my guns and insisted on a non-interventionist birth. With a bit of luck hopefully I will go into labour naturally before Wednesday. I'm going back for a cervix sweep on Sunday so I hope that may kick things off.

time4tea · 13/10/2006 19:57

www - great news on scan. I've got mine a week on Tuesday, feeling excited more than trepidatious this time. Its amazing that we are at 20 weeks

Smole, special welcome - I remember you from the TTC after mc thread. Lovely to have you here.

Wools, I'm about to have a curry for you (!) in the hope that it gets you going... our beanie just wants me to eat curry ;-)

anyone having subsequent babies like me - I started a thread which is getting some lovely and genuinely useful and informative posts - on preparing firstborn for the new baby. its in Behaviour/Development, called Preparing 2 and half year old for new baby. (my computer skills don't run to hotlinking...)

have a good weekend all XXX

OK, Time4curry

wools · 15/10/2006 10:59

Hi everyone,

I'm still here - 3 days overdue now and am having a second membrane sweep this afternoon so I hope that kicks things into action.

Time4tea - I've got a bit of a craving for curries at the moment - had one last night - delicious.

How's everyone doing?

twocatsonthebed · 15/10/2006 21:03

wools - hope the radio silence means that the sweep has kicked things off! Looking forward to some news....

time4tea · 15/10/2006 21:51

hello

feeling a bit daunted today - DH has gone off on business for a week, a rare thing for him - and I had a day of small irritations (cancelled trains meaning I couldn't take DS out as planned, buggy falling backwards because overloaded with DS in it (felt like a worm) then DS pooed in the bath....) I felt like I just am so lacking in inspiration and energy to be the mummy I want to be with my lovely little boy, or relax and rest properly to give this new baby a good start... anyone got any tips? helps a lot to just write it all down...

feeling very excited for Wools!

julezboo · 16/10/2006 09:36

Ohhh good luck wools!! I hope its your time and your not still waiting!

T4t, sorry your day has been rubbish so far. (((hugs)))

I'm still so exhausted too, I am snappy, still being sick (Although not everyday!) I locked myself in ds's bedroom yesterday for a few hours and cleaned it from top to bottom, threw out 3 binbags of broken toys! Was nice to have the peace even if I wasn't resting.

Got a midwife appt today, they have got to do my bloods 4 hours after my injection so Have to do that early today, not sure what else they will do but will report back when I get home!

Hope everyone else is ok

Julie 22+0

Still here - no sign of anything yet. Back today at hospital for 3rd sweep (guess who's desperate to avoid induction on Wednesday.)
Had a terrible night's sleep - 2 hours in total. Guess it's my body gearing up for the sleepless nights.

T4T - sorry to hear about your day yesterday. I feel a bit like you at the moment - thank goodness for DH who is brilliant with ds1 and ds2.

weewilliewinkie · 16/10/2006 11:14

wools, what are you still doing here?! think it's time you had a serious chat with that baby of yours!

T4t - you need to find some time for proper relaxation. Do you have an hour to yourself during the day? I highly recommend trying the hypnobirthing cd I've been using. I got it from Amazon - you get the cd free with the book. Very interesting stuff - basically saying labour hurts because of the fear element - take away the fear (through self-hypnosis) and labour could well be pain-free. Not sure how much I believe but it's a lovley concept. And I just lay down for an hour to listen to the cd and it was sooooooo relaxing, I was in an almost-asleep state yet still awake-ish. There are a few practioners but my book is by Marie Mongan. Check it out - I feel great now! and I plan to do the cd every day.

julezboo - hope your appt goes ok today - I hate them taking blood.

Hope everyone else is feeling fine...

twocatsonthebed · 16/10/2006 18:46

oh wools, I do hope something happens for you before Wed, you must be thoroughly fed up.

I actually thought that things were on the way on Friday night - I had a little bit of waters leak, and then spent a very strange night of backache, period pain and baby wriggling. I spent half the night awake, thinking, I am definitely not ready for this, it's like being put on stage when I haven't learnt any of my lines. And then when I got up in the morning, my bump had definitely shrunk... But when I got down to see the midwives, they said it was in fact the baby getting its head into position, in an admittedly dramatic fashion. So I'm guessing it could still be weeks to go.

Mygirl, getting the home birth pack must be really bringing it home to you though, hope you're OK.

jules - hope the appointment wasn't too awful today.

t4t - your baby will be fine whatever you do, but you need the relaxation. Haven't tried hypnobirthing myself, but am a great fan of expensive bath products and a good book. Oh, and M&S ready-made puddings. Hope you're managing ok this week.

How's everyone else getting on.

time4tea · 16/10/2006 23:37

thanks everyone for the kind words after my Eeyore-ish moan last night! and Two-Cats, I laughed out loud, I have just downed an M&S apple crumble with ready-made custard - yum! quite enjoying DH-free time, have the house reasonably neat and tidy, and have been listening to music and having a big chat with Best Friend. maybe this is just a time of change, I've been MN-ing like mad on all sorts of little worries. It's so great having you around. Had a little weep looking at my pregnancy/birth book pictures - it all seems so unreal still, after what seems like a really long journey of TTC, mc, TTC, those first weeks of waiting to see how the baby is... so it is extra exciting to think of Wools and Two-Cats ready to go! good luck to both of you and much love and thanks again for all the good wishes.

time4tea i know what you mean about it feeling unreal. we've just started telling people (16 weeks, so we left it a long time) and it's certainly making it feel more real now. I looked at my husband when he came home yesterday and thought wow, in 6 months (touch wood touch wood) you'll be a father! He has started to look sheepishly pleased about things.
Had a (rare) moment of insight this morning when I realised that my nerves about this pregnancy are all about things that have happened already. So it's not that I'm afraid that the baby is going to die tomorrow, or next week, it's that I'm scared it might have died already. A hangover from the missed miscarriage, perhaps. Anyway, odd. I'm trying to persuade myself that the bubbles and twitches I feel are the baby, but not much success as yet.
Oh I'm tired, and I have hours of lecturing this afternoon!
Hope everyone else is well, and that Wools your baby is making its way out as I type!

time4tea · 17/10/2006 12:46

hello Little Frog, good to hear from you - haven't heard from you in a while! I hope you are ok and feeling chipper. Still happy to CAT (contact another talker - I assume) if you want to talk. In a few weeks (if you are still not sure now) you'll feel the baby and then this will be comforting. Its great to feel we are moving on in the pregnancies.
