Hi ladies, had a bit of a scary day and could do with advice pls! My husband and I dtd last night for the first time since finding out I was pregnant. I'm 10 weeks + 4. This morning I had lots of bright pinky / red discharge. It tailed off throughout the day and I did get scanned and saw bubba wriggling around, which was an utter relief. Have any of you had pink discharge / spotting after intercourse? I never had it in my last pregnancies so still worried there may be more to come.

I hope you are all well, I apologise for not having the chance to read back over all the recent posts but at my inlaws so being antisocial just logging in xx

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 01/03/2014 21:26

Fod have you a pad on? Give it a sniff. Apparently waters don't smell like wee if that helps.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 01/03/2014 21:28

Lotty it could be that you have a cervical erosion. Hormones can thin the skin on the cervix making it easily damaged. Dtd can be enough to cause a small break that bleeds.

Hi LottyStar. I've had the same today. I'm 10 + 2 and we dtd this morning for the first time in ages. About midday I started getting backache and period type pains and red cm Sad. The pains and red cm have tailed off, I'm still a bit achy and my cm is still a bit pink but it is getting better than worse. My epau is shut at weekends so I spent this afternoon under the duvet having a bit of a sobfest!!! This is the exact time my mmc started last time and I'm terrified it's happening again. I've got my booking in appointment on Monday so I think I'll just play it by ear until then.

Lottystar how did you get your scan? I'm wondering if there is anywhere I can go tomorrow?

fod27 · 01/03/2014 22:19

I hope so Guff thanks for that - glad I'm not being paranoid
pixie I thought I was fed up and I'm 3 weeks off my DD I bet your going insane!

Lotty and suzy I echo what saggy has said it's normal to bleed after sex in pregnancy that's why DH has banned me from all bedroom action - hence my DIY update a few days ago lol

fod27 · 01/03/2014 22:21

saggy I've put a pad on to see what's happening so hopefully I'll be closer to some answers

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 01/03/2014 22:45

Enjoy the bedroom action while you can! I am considering trying it to bring on labour, but spd, my great bulk and being totally knackered mean I'm not sure I can even think about it!Sad Sad

Thank you for your advice ladies, it's a relief to hear bleeding after sex is relatively normal, it never happened in either of my previous pregnancies so I freaked out a bit.

Suzy, I called 111 (my GP was closed) who referred me to a on call GP who then referred me to the hospital for a scan. It wasn't an EPU - it was an emergency appt with a gyno who scanned me. I was surprised to get such treatment but because I've had occasional twinges on one side (which I told them when they asked about cramps) I think they wanted to rule out ectopic. It was such a relief to see the baby wriggling around. Bleeding all stopped completely by around midday, it was literally just pink discharge when I wiped.

Lottystar · 01/03/2014 23:16

Oh and Saggy, with my second baby the German Doctors gave me half a cup of castor oil and orange juice. A few hours later in was in established labour. With my first ds my husband and I got lost in the car on the way to my friend's new house, lots of speed bumps and country roads did the trick. Waters popped on the way home.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 01/03/2014 23:22

Castor oil is NOT on my list of labour induction options!

OP posts:
fod27 · 02/03/2014 00:50

I've heard bad things about the castor oil too saggy apparently it works by stimulating the bowel which in turn stimulates the stomach however in doing so it stimulate baby's stomach which can result in LO taking it's first bowel movement (meconium) before birth - dangerous for both mum and baby

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 02/03/2014 02:56

Thats what I'd heard too.
Also, IIRC my Mum said she had taken castor oil and shit "through the eye of a needle" for most of her labour! Confused

OP posts:
fod27 · 02/03/2014 05:41

Yes yes yes saggy I heard that also! Not a good idea if your going to be pushing anything down there for a long period of time hehee

MrsGiraffe12 · 02/03/2014 06:25

Oohhhh seems like we could have some thread babies making an appearance soon, exciting :-)

To all those that are worried :-( lots of hand holding x

Has made me think that perhaps no nooky in pregnancy is a good thing and if I got cervical erosion it would terrify me! Poor DH he's got until prob October to get any ( c section last week of August )

Got a chest infection now the sickness bug has passed, as if I wasn't feeling sorry enough for myself all the coughing is pulling on my c section scar area (nearly 6 years old) and is now tender. Urgh, makes me nervous now about having to have one with this DC (I know it's medical advice but grrr so wanted to labour and deliver naturally as I never have) x

bakingtins · 02/03/2014 08:33

Hope everyone that was worried yesterday feels better today. Come on thread babies, I'm getting impatient for new arrivals so can't imagine how you ladies who are due feel!

mrsG you can talk to your MW or doctor about VBAC. Depends why you needed a Csection last time if they'll advise one again, but I think they are often open to VBAC now.

MrsGiraffe12 · 02/03/2014 09:54

bakingtins They've said due to lots of factors (I won't go into much detail, just think PET, unconsciousness, IUGR, then haemorage after erpc) they would strongly recommend an elective c section as it's easier to control these things etc (worried about PPH etc). Tis rubbish :-( I'd be happy to deliver in theatre under an epidural if they would let me VBAC that way if they need to do anything emergency I'm right there so to speak x

Lottystar · 02/03/2014 09:55

They do things rather differently in Germany, it's all a bit more old fashioned. It did work though and thankfully we had no problems, not that I was warned or knew that there could be any with taking the castor oil, it was given to me in hospital the night before I was to be induced.

Some light bleeding again when I wiped this morning, I don't think there will be any nookie again throughout this pregnancy, as I'm scared witless now. Just going to rest today and hope it stops again.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 02/03/2014 11:13

Wonders how Fods waters are doing?
I made it through the night. Sad
Although I didn't sleep till 4. Again. Confused
Although I did use the teenagers free privacy to indulge in my first ever er.. 'topiary'! Wink Logistically interesting, but much tidier! And with that last bit of birds nesting done, Grin im ready now. All I need now is a baby...

OP posts:
GuffSmuggler · 02/03/2014 11:29

saggy I tried a bit of tidying up down there, it was not pleasant trying to reach the overgrown areas, I really don't know why I bothered!!

We had Chinese last night and I was awake until 4am with indigestion, so I guess that's take away off the menu until I have this baby!!

lotty glad all is ok, that's amazing service from your hospital. When I bled before my MC it started on a Friday evening and they refused to scan me until the following Weds, was awful Sad

GuffSmuggler · 02/03/2014 11:30

PS yes where is fod!?

HopefulHamster · 02/03/2014 11:33

Thank you all for the words of confidence. I was scared of having a private scan - that last little bit of denial, I suppose, but I can't have another four weeks like that. I have looked up some local places, might be able to get a scan on Thurs or Sunday, so we'll see.

I am too scared to have nookie! I've had bleeds in pregnancy before and think I'm a bit sensitive in that region, so prefer not to bother. Though when I had my son we did try it at 40 weeks just to get him out (didn't work!).

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 02/03/2014 11:45

Guff I had to do something! Things were thoroughly out of hand! Blush
I took DPs clippers to it in the end. I decided that I t was safer than scissors! Grin
I havent told him yet. Hes due a haircut later! Grin Grin Grin

Lotty and Suzy I always have this! Pregnant or not, about 2 weeks a month when not. Got it checked out, turns out I have a bleedy cervix (mucus cells) brought on by my hormones. Harmless but scary if you don't know what it is. Have a chat with your midwife, I bet something similar is happening to you because of pregnancy hormones. It does mean me and DH are living like nuns "don't want nun not getting nun" until I'm well past 12 weeks though as I can't take the blood fear! I read on a pregnancy blog that oral sex is good for blood pressure. Not sure whether to share that one with DH. Grin

Fod and Pixie hoping things get shifting for you two ladies ASAP! In the words of Homer Simpson "But I don't want to play the waiting game! I want to play hungryhungryhippos!" Grin

Saggy a friend of mine decided not to tidy with 2nd DC. Her wry comment afterwards was "never mind the hypno CD, I shoulda played "Welcome To The Jungle" it was down to me knees!" Grin Grin Grin

Fanjo watch today: not a sausage, thankfully nothing at all bar see through mucus. Even with a bowel movement. Husband told me to stop running up to the loo when watching telly as he has to pause and rewind too much. I told him I could quite easily make him bleed a little if he wanted to see how scary it was (JOKES in both cases I hasten to add!). Now on tenterhooks till Monday (when A&E doc said it would be OK to wait till Weds for routine 12 week appt if nothing happened).
I think straining for the poo and/or lifting heavy shopping made my eroded cervix bleed - like a nose bleed if you're stressed. Hope it was that anyway.

Pixielady83 · 02/03/2014 12:04

glad things have settled down ladies who were worried yesterday. I have also been pruning this morning Grin goodness knows if I've managed to improve matters though Confused its probably just patchy.

Distracting myself from due date by having friends round for lunch. Think DH is relieved as it means less opportunity to be shouty and cross with him for no reason. Could kill for a bottle glass of red wine. Think I just will open a bottle. Hopefully friends won't be wearing judgey pants!

Pentagon · 02/03/2014 12:27

Happy due date pixie! 2 weeks max left now so don't despair! They won't induce before that, right? Or at least a week? But induction doesn't have to be bad, who was induced here and said it was better than her first birth? I really don't remember. Enjoy your lunch today and surely you can have a glass of wine or a couple of sips at least!

ooooh fod exciting! You may be next! And guff and saggy very soon! I can't wait for the influx of new babies!
