stac14 · 22/02/2009 17:22

Hiya ladies,

Lauren Give it another day or so and if af doesnt come test again sometimes the hormone levels aren't high enough when your only a couple of days late. When I was pregnant with Jack I had 2 negative tests then all of a sudden it was clear as anything so you never know xxx

Claire Did they tell you if your womb is bicurnate? I had an MRI done when they thought I had a blood clot in my lung it was an ancient contraption thought I was getting stuck lol Didnt do much either, my friend and her partner came down for a while so had a laugh with them, steered clear of the ttc, she got sterilised last year and wishes she has regretted it since so we try not to talk about it
I finished the norethisterone so just waiting for af to come it took 5 days last time so hoping its quicker this time
XXXXXXX

Lauren
I hope you are pregnant! I think if I remembered correctly, you said that you had a miscarriage before? That is why I suggested baby aspirin (81mg), once a day... And you take it while you are ttc. And if you are pregnant... Take it for the first 10 weeks. At a low dose of 81mg a day... It will not harm the baby.

Stac

It?s okay to have a glass of wine. Actually research has shown that one glass of red wine is good for you!

Claire

I had to do an MRI once, and I also remember that I have to sit completely still and loud noise was so annoying!

Baby Dust to all !

stac14 · 22/02/2009 21:08

hey brandybaby
How are you today?
It was a big bit more than a glass of wine, it was probably more like several, but as I said it was great to just let my hair down and not worry about ttc for the evening, but today I am back to worrying and waiting for af.
I think I will get baby aspirin, I have never had a miscarraige but as I have pcos and an underactive thyroid I am apparently more suseptable to them, all conditions I didnt have when I had my ds so far more scared now.

claire001 · 22/02/2009 21:35

hi everyone,

What is baby aspirin? Well I finished my second lot of clomid last night so again just waiting for everything, I'm seeing my consultant on thursday and she will give me the results of my MRI, X X

stac14 · 22/02/2009 21:48

hiya claire
its just a low dose aspirin that I think is safe to give babies, brandybaby knows lots about all that stuff.
Its a pain in the ass having to wait for all the results. How did you feel on the 100mg clomid? Were your side effects any worse? xxx

claire001 · 22/02/2009 22:43

hey stac, no they were about the same I think really. I just felt very misrable and feeling sorry for myself, hopefully it will all be worth it, X

stac14 · 22/02/2009 22:45

Hey Claire
at least it wasn't worse the feeling down for a few days I can just about handle lol xx

BrandyBaby · 23/02/2009 08:21

Stac

Don?t stress yourself out over it! My doctor told me that having a couple of glasses of wine when bding will help will my stressing out over ttc and that it could help. You?re fine. Baby aspirin can?t hurt... Only help.

Claire

Taking a low dose of baby aspirin (81mg) once a day improves uterine blood flow and enhance embryo implantation. It come only help to take it... can?t hurt!

BrandyBaby · 23/02/2009 08:24

I wanted to share with you ladies
If you already know this, sorry to repeat it! I just thought that some of this information was useful.

What Happens During the Menstrual Cycle?
So, what is actually happening inside your body each month? It?s all about hormones. The changes associated with the menstrual cycle are brought on by fluctuations in hormones at different times of the month. Most cycles are 29 days long - a variation of a few days more or less can be quite normal and small variations from cycle to cycle is also normal. Day 1 of bleeding is referred to as Day 1 of the menstrual cycle. The length of the cycle is measured from Day 1 of one cycle (bleed) to Day 1 of the next cycle (bleed)
Ovulation occurs on approximately day 14 of a woman?s cycle and is when a mature egg is released from the ovary, pushed down the fallopian tube and is available to be fertilized. The lining of the uterus has thickened to prepare for a fertilized egg. If no conception occurs, the uterine lining as well as blood will be shed. The shedding of an unfertilized egg and the uterine wall is the time of menstruation. The menstrual cycle can be divided into the following parts: the ovarian cycle and the uterine cycle.
Ovarian Cycle
The ovarian cycle involves changes in the ovaries, and can be further divided into two phases:
Phase 1
The follicular phase (days 1 through 13) is the time from the first day of menstruation until ovulation, when a mature egg is released from the ovary. It's called the follicular phase because growth or maturation of the egg is taking place inside the follicle, a small sac where the egg matures. Ovulation occurs around day 14 of the cycle, in response to a surge of luteinizing hormone (LH) when the egg is released from the ovary. This first half of the cycle can differ greatly for each woman lasting anywhere from 7 days until 40 days.
Phase 2
The luteal phase (days 14 through 28) is the time from when the egg is released (ovulation) until the first day of menstruation, when you get your period. It is a structure that grows in the ovary where a mature egg was released at ovulation. The luteal phase has a more precise timeline and usually is only 12-16 days from the day of ovulation. This ultimately means that the day of ovulation will determine how long your cycle is.
Stress and Your Period
The old thought that stress can affect your period is only partly true. Stress can affect your ovulation which ultimately determines when your period will come, but stress around the time of an expected period will not make it late?it was already determined when it would come 12-16 days earlier!
Important Facts to Know About Ovulation:
An egg (ovum) lives 12-24 hours after leaving the ovary
Normally only one egg is released each time of ovulation
Ovulation can be affected by stress, illness or disruption of normal routines
Some women may experience some light blood spotting during ovulation
Implantation of a fertilized egg normally takes place 6-12 days after ovulation
Each women is born with millions of immature eggs that are awaiting ovulation to begin
A menstrual period can occur even if ovulation has not occurred
Ovulation can occur even if a menstrual period has not occurred
Some women can feel a bit of pain or aching, near the ovaries during ovulation. This is called "mittleschmerz"
If an egg is not fertilized, it disintegrates and is absorbed into the uterine lining
Sperm can live in a woman's body up to 5 days after intercourse, though more often 2 days.
Pregnancy is most likely if intercourse occurs anywhere from 3 days before ovulation until 2-3 days after ovulation.
Uterine Cycle
The uterine cycle involves changes in the uterus. It occurs in tandem with the ovarian cycle, and is divided into two phases:
The proliferative phase (days 5 through 14) is the time after menstruation and before the next ovulation, when the lining of the uterus increases rapidly in thickness and the uterine glands multiply and grow.
The secretory phase (days 14 through 28) is the time after ovulation. When an egg is not fertilized, the corpus luteum gradually disappears, estrogen and progesterone (hormone) levels drop, and the thickened uterine lining is shed. This is your menses (your period).
When are you the most fertile?
A woman's monthly cycle is measured from the first day of her menstrual period until the first day of her next period. On average, a woman's cycle normally is between 28-32 days, but some women may have much shorter cycles or much longer ones. Ovulation can be calculated by starting with the day the last menstrual period (LMP) starts or by calculating 12-16 days from the next expected period. Most women ovulate anywhere between Day 11 - Day 21 of their cycle, counting from the first day of the LMP. This is what many refer to as the "fertile time" of a woman's cycle, because sexual intercourse during this time increases the chance of pregnancy. Ovulation can occur at various times during a cycle, and may occur on a different day each month.
How can tracking your ovulation be useful?
Tracking ovulation can help a woman get a better idea of when pregnancy can and can not occur during her monthly cycle Fertility Awareness is one way to track when ovulation occurs and it includes studying the changes in cervical mucus and using a basal thermometer. Cervical fluid will change to a wet, slippery substance that resembles "egg whites" just before ovulation occurs and until ovulation is over. A thermometer helps track a body temperature rise, which signals that ovulation has just occurred. Another way to track ovulation is through ovulation kits and fertility monitors.. Once ovulation has occurred, there is nothing you can do to increase your chances of pregnancy. Your next step is to begin watching for early pregnancy symptoms.

Hi Claire, Stac14 and Brandy Baby,

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply. Well i had my scan last week and it was really frightening at first becuase they found the sack but couldnt see the baby, but after a good few minutes the tiny heartbeat showed. All is okay, but i am not as far gone as i thought, maybe a week out. Anyway, Im going back again this week for another scan.

I was prescribed clomid at 50g to take day 2-6. I ovulated on first cycle (29 days) and then conceived on second. I didnt have PCOS, i just simply did not ovulate regularly.

Any more questions just ask

claire001 · 23/02/2009 13:09

Hi brandybabe

Oh my god! you are full of information! how do you no so much?

claire001 · 23/02/2009 13:34

Me agian,

(you can tell im board at work cant you)

This is going to sound like such a stupid question.......

If we are ment to ovulate around day 12 to 14 how does the blood test on day 21 tell if you have ovulated, surley the levels would have settled down by then?

Laurenl502 · 23/02/2009 13:34

claire001 · 23/02/2009 13:42

Hey lauren

Why were you put on clomid? X

stac14 · 23/02/2009 13:48

Hi claire
I am not too sure why they do this then either but I think its cos your hormone levels stay high for about 7 days following ovulation, my doc is doing bloods cd21, cd28 and cd35, which seems excessive, would rather have the scan on cd10 to see if the follicles are there. I am still supposed to be doing my assessment but so cant be bothered lol

Hi lauren I'm good thanks, yeah waiting for af so I can get on with the clomid hoping the 100mg makes me ov this month it was very disheartening last month to find I hadnt on 50 mg so keeping my fingers crossed. When is the consultant getting back to you? I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, I am also going to buy baby aspirin, cant hurt can it?

Hey poppy
That happened to my friend on her first scan, they were so scared that it was a phantom but when she got an internal scan it was just because of the way the baby was lying I am soo pleased everything is ok, how far on are you? are you taking any supplements we might find useful while ttc? Keep us updated, its so good to hear a success story XXX

Hey brandybaby I take it you have had a busy weekend with the bding? I am getting so impatient for af to come so I can get back on the clomid

claire001 · 23/02/2009 13:53

Hi stac

stac14 · 23/02/2009 15:33

BrandyBaby · 24/02/2009 04:38

Poppy

That is so great! A tiny heartbeat! How did you feel when you first heard it? I wish you all the best! Good luck with your pregnancy.

Claire

That information is actually from a website that I found was useful... I just thought that you ladies would find in interesting. This is my 14th cycle trying. The first 5months that we were ttc... All I did was talk about a baby and getting pregnant. My mother was the one that told me I never talk about anything else, so I could only imagine how my poor husband felt! So I decided from that moment on that I would not talk about babies of getting pregnant at all unless someone else brought it up first or asked me a question about it. I was beginning to feel very lonely. That?s when I started finding all the information I could get my hands on-books, magazines, and online sources. By doing this it has made me feel better having the knowledge and talking to other women in my position. This is better for my friends and family! This is cycle day 17 for me. I don?t know why but I?m feeling very positive this month. I guess because I had ovary pains on day 14, also the timing when my husband and I did out bding. What about you girl? Every women is different and ovulates at different times... That?s why it?s better to get your body on a cycle pattern and this will help to lead on one conceiving.

Lauren

I think you should try the baby aspirin, ask your doctor if you feel more comfortable about it. I hope you don?t ever have to go through another miscarriage again... There is so much information on everyone and there is so many threads! I sometime have a hard time keeping everything on track as well! My husband and I ttc for 7 months on our own. Then I was put on clomid 50mg on days 5-9 for 4 months... Then one month off. Then I was put on 100mg on days 3-7 last month. This month I switched it up a bit... Day 1-100mg, Day 2- 100mg, Day 3- 150mg, Day 4-100mg, Day 5- 50mg. I?m hoping that taking it on days 1-5 thuis month will do the trick!

Stac

Yes I have been!!! Lol... We did good this month... Other months in the past my husband sometimes can?t ?perform?... he has said because of all the pressure. But this month everything went well! How are you doing hun? How was your weekend? I have never heard of going some many times throughout the month!

BABY DUST TO ALL !
