Foodylicious · 09/02/2014 17:18

Now I know why I felt like crap yesterday - woke up this morning at 5.30 full of cold and coughing
stayed up till 9am then coughed myself into being sick and gave up and went back to bed
Up again at 12 and feeling pants Sad so pjs all day and food, food, food! and cups of tea, lots of them
Eventually took some paracetamol and think they did actually help.
anyway, enough about me, How's everyone's weekend been??
Oh and a tiny bit more about me... 22 weeks today Grin

BlindKitty · 09/02/2014 17:59

bunny and foody sounds like you both need some looking after atm! Brew

So in my news I went to the glee club last night and lee Evans was on. Not my type of humour but what a nice guy! Was just on to test out his new material for a new tour. Seemed very genuinely appreciative of the crowd and gave me a hug and said thank for listening on his way out (fyi I didn't initiate the hug haha).

Went to a baby shower today. Lovely nursery. Wish I could swap. Dh attempted to assemble ours but we were missing a bolt. House looks a bit like nursery blitzkrieg atm! Impressed with the nice lady at babies r us for dropping off the bolt on her way home!

Oh and the cat has just had another fit Sad

foody hope u feel better tomorrow.

I have had a good sunday, lovely carvery, dog walk and then a nap and about to get in the bath.

BlindKitty · 09/02/2014 19:34

foody I hate to be so environmentally unfriendly but I have no desire to clean shitty nappies!

Did remind me of a story someone said today at the baby shower. My friend made her Dh some sandwiches for work and left them in a bag on the counter. She'd also changed the baby's nappy and left it in a bag by the door on the floor. Her Dh thought he'd picked the sandwiches up and left them by the door...yup you guessed it, he took a shitty nappy to work!!! Grin

Foody I'm planning on starting with disposable but maybe trying some reusable ones once we have found our feet. Many companies will do you a sample/trial of one for a small price

Foodylicious · 09/02/2014 21:14

There seem to be some nappy libraries around as well as sling library's Think it will be good to have a look at the different types, there seem to be quite a few.
Will be getting some disposable too, ASDAs own seem to have great reviews for the price. My sister tried some 'eco friendly' disposable ones a while agonand they were crap, tabs tore off frequently they did not fit well and leaked, so arguably not fit for purpose!
Incidentally she used top brand nappies and formula milk with her first, did not even think about using anything else (genuinely did not enter her head to look) and was astounded in the price difference between brands when she had her 2nd and actually paid some attention!

Foodylicious · 09/02/2014 21:15

Also seems lots of local authorities/councils have a voucher or money back scheme for cloth nappies, ours gives you a free starter pack or £30 back with proof of purchase.

Bunnygirlie · 09/02/2014 21:47

foody feel better soon my lovely

kitty how's the cat?

Tallyra · 09/02/2014 22:19

Oh kitty, poor little moggy.

We have been looking at cloth nappies and we will be getting a few starter packs after the newborn stage. We don't have a great local council, no incentives unfortunately but we don't like the idea of throwing away so much stuff every day.

Boomgoestheweasel · 10/02/2014 06:19

Morning all

bunny good luck today, sure all will go well! Thinking of you xxx

kitty poor mog :-( how is she now?

I looked into cloth nappies briefly but the cost of getting enough for 2 is utterly prohibitive as an upfront purchase. Also I have seen some very sore bottoms on reuseable nappy wearing babies, I don't think this is directly due to the nappy but they don't 'wick' as well as disposables so need changing pretty vigilantly! I do like the idea though but not the prospect of washing/drying umpteen nappies a day

Starting to feel tired here. 30+1 today, and definitely walking with a waddle now. Just finished 3 shifts in a row and utterly knackered! Two days off now though, oooh bliss Grin

Oh and my NCT teacher tried to call me last night (was at work) so she's going to call me tonight about the classes that start on sat! Ooh getting real I hope she doesn't ask what I do

BlindKitty · 10/02/2014 06:50

boom you could always just say you work for the nhs?

boom bunny well she's giving me her early morning wake up call atm (incessant buffing and periodically shaking saliva on me when I ignore her) so I'm guessing she's fine again!

bunny good luck for today. What time is it?

In the last two days my nausea has suddenly vanished. It's a wonderful feeling and I feel I should be delighted. But AIBU to be worrying about whether it could be a bad sign? I'm 11+1 so I keep trying to tell myself it's just leaving a bit ahead of schedule. I hadn't realised how much reassurance I was taking from being so sick, and now I can't stop wondering if everything is alright with the little one. I've started prodding my nipples to check for sensitivity which seems mad.... Luckily my scan date has come through (19th) so I have some reassurance ahead. But it suddenly seems an awfully long time away!

Thunderpantsarego · 10/02/2014 09:55

Hi all,

This thread dropped off my list-disaster! I think that I must think I post more than I actually do.

bunny big lucks for today, what time is scan?

Re reusable nappies- yep we're giving it a try. We'll buy some disposables too but I've read that people who start off with them often have the most success. I'm not precious if it doesn't work out but I want to at least try! I understand you can use 24 instead of 4,000 disposables, and save hundreds of pounds. The washing is definitely the down side but the ones I'm looking at have a flushable bamboo liner. We'll see.

See girls- that is me actually thinking/talking about baby stuff!

kitty so sorry about the cat, is it epilepsy?

jessplussomeonenew · 10/02/2014 10:00

Bunny, fx for your scan today.

Foody, hope you feel better soon - colds seem so unfair on top of everything else we have to go through.

I have two friends who are real nappy enthusiasts so will probably give it a try, particularly if they have some to pass on. Being able to use flushable nappy liners does appear to reduce the ickiness!

Bunnygirlie · 10/02/2014 11:08

Woah this sh*t suddenly got real! Shock Grin Smile

Thunderpantsarego · 10/02/2014 11:11
