Thanks for the holiday advice kat and pixie! Glad I'm
Not the only one planning a good old gallivant once I regain the ability to walk! I reckon as soon as I'm over the sleep deprivation and the terror that I might accidentally break the baby - we're going to spend a lot of time outdoors doing things. A friend of mine became a complete hermit for about four months after her first was born and I swore I'd never let myself do that!

I just spent ages googling Shetland saggy it looks lovely there (although it's funny how it's never raining in these Scotland holiday sites!

Yay for good scan news PG!! And welcome to team blue :) lots of boys on here!! Exciting times :)

Welcome marmite lovely to have you here. Today tiu are pregnant! Hoping you have a smooth time of it :)

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 24/01/2014 00:03

It doesn't always rain in Shetland! Smile
Its my idea of heaven. I want to get married up there eventually.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 24/01/2014 00:04

Welcome Marmite. You're past those horrible first few weeks. Time to settle in and enjoy yourself. xx Smile

fod27 · 24/01/2014 02:53

I've decided once the baby weights off I'm having one jade stab at my youth and hitting the night clubs ;) I missed out on my 30th, hen do abc wedding night so I think I've earned one xxx

Welcome marmite and congratulations!

Lieslvontrapp · 24/01/2014 07:35

Morning ladies!

Great scan news sarah! Must be a big relief after the bleeding.

Congrats on the 20 wk scan pgchimp and finding out its a boy!

Welcome marmite! Congrats in your bfp!

Holidays sound lovely. I'm also looking into a uk break for when baby is 5 months.

ChristineDaae · 24/01/2014 08:02

Welcome Marmite, and congrats on the good scan pg!
Our baby's first holiday will be the wedding. At least we'll have plenty of help on the flight and plenty of company to keep DD occupied!

Hi ladies. Just in a panic here. Nausea gone and I feel fine (sore boobs and more tired but not the same exhaustion I had), so I'm feeling convinced it's bad. 6 weeks is my bad week and feeling ok is not reassuring. Scan tomorrow am. Feel like I'm waiting for inevitable news. Sorry for me me me. Hmm

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 24/01/2014 09:44

All its normal for symptoms to come and go. And quite normal to worry about it. Smile
Not long till your scan, hang in there. xx

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 24/01/2014 09:47

Has a random appointment with a random consultant next week and no idea why!
that makes 1 appointment on Wednesday and 3 appointments on thursday!!
Maybe they could just find me a bed and I could stay!! Confused

Thankfully these ones are local not in London!

fod27 · 24/01/2014 12:41

all I was the same with this pregnancy at one point I kept squeezing my breasts to see if I could make them tender etc - if you can't be me me me here where can you be? Thinking of you tomorrow xxx
kat you'll be fine, there's no manual and every child is different, you'll find your way we all did or will - failing that there's 24 hour helplines, HV, MW and Google is there any one thing that concerns you most?

Pixielady83 · 24/01/2014 12:55

Welcome marmite wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy.

all hope tomorrow goes ok. I found my symptoms really varied, far worse when I was tired and non existent on other days if I'd slept better.

kat I think mumsnet might do a book? I had one called first time parent but it wasn't v helpful. baby whisperer bit better but I would strongly recommend not taking anything as gospel, every baby is different. You can get way too tied up worrying about routine when actually it takes a long time to emerge and that's ok (IMO). My mum drive,me nuts in the first 3 months going 'oh dear she's still not in a routine' Angry Basically at the beginning I found DD fed a lot, needed nappy changing every 3-4 hours and didn't get a settled sleep pattern until 3 months! I would recommend reading a few books and taking a few ideas from each.

Bit worried after midwife appointment. Still don't have growth chart and fundal height has only grown 1cm in 2 weeks. MW seemed concerned and said I might need a scan to check everything ok.

kjh5 · 24/01/2014 13:10

Kat I also wanted something to read just to give me an idea about what to expect, I got a book a few friends raved about called The Sensational Baby Sleep Plan www.amazon.co.uk/Sensational-Baby-Sleep-Plan-ebook/dp/B003ELY7K6/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1390568626&sr=1-1&keywords=the+sensational+baby+sleep+plan just to try and get some ideas about how to get the baby sleeping well.

And then the Baby Week By Week was the most recommended general book. I haven't looked at either of them yet. I'm expecting to get bits of helpful advice from both but I guess its all down to the baby and his own little quirks so will see how we manage once he gets here. We'll figure it out! Most people seem to xx

kjh5 · 24/01/2014 13:16

Pixie I don't have a growth chart nor do I actually have that many appointments! I'm only seeing my midwife every 8 weeks, is this normal does anyone know? I just kind of accepted it and I feel so huge it never really occurred to me to worry about growth....

Are you seeing your MW again soon to get remeasured? At the last appt mine was quite blase about the measurements, she said there was 2cm leeway either side and not everyone measures bang on their dates.

Pixielady83 · 24/01/2014 13:44

kjh I had an 8 wk gap between 16 and 24 weeks, then 4 week gap until 32 weeks and now its every fortnight so maybe you'll get more from now on? think towards the end you should be seeing mw more. Thanks for reassurance on measurements Smile

fod27 · 24/01/2014 13:48

pixie I have a friend that's due in 2 weeks she has the same growth issue - they sent her for 2 weekly scans to monitor growth / she's since been told that baby is weighing in a 7lb and is still growing so try not to worry too much they can be out be a couple of cms too xxx

Pixielady83 · 24/01/2014 16:28

Well mw said she would check the growth chart at the hospital this afternoon and let me know about a scan and I haven't heard anything else so hopefully it is ok. Wish I'd asked her to confirm either way- going to my mums on Sunday and don't want to get called in for a scan on Monday when I'm 2 hours away...

I've got lots of movement and hb is ok so maybe it is just position of baby? which incidentally is now head down to my surprise! didn't think my babies knew how to do that and was all emotionally prepared for a planned section. Now I need to get my head round normal delivery eek Shock

Pixielady83 · 24/01/2014 16:30

fod thanks that's reassuring to hear about your friend. I know these measurements aren't precise but it just triggered a bit of panic in me.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 24/01/2014 16:52

Oh dear! parenting aunting fail!
my DSis has been over with my niece 3.5 today. The little one has a nasty cold. We were just sitting watching the Disney channel when DN says "feel sick" and proceeds to hurl across the sofa. What did I do? The older, more experienced parent who's generally fairly unflappable??? Hmm
Threw up myself! Blush
Whilst my poor DP ran around mopping up, I hid gagging in the bathroom! Confused

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 24/01/2014 16:53

Haha! Saggy I think that's perfectly acceptable, my cat had a mouldy gross bone stuck in his mouth the other day and I nearly hurled when he finally dislodged it on my kitchen floor.

Is anyone else unable to control their eating at the moment? I can't stay away from cake and I can't seem to stop myself from baking ridiculous amounts despite the fact its only me and DH here. I just ate half a packet of choc ginger biscuits and am seriously considering a dinner consisting of hot cross buns dripping in butter followed by salted caramel icecream Blush
