Hello ladies! Come and find me! Grin

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ExpatAl · 10/01/2014 17:00

Oh ffs re pnd!! How bloody cheeky!
Sorry you feel so poorly. Shazlet's has definitely had a few growth spurts already so if you didn't notice you're both obviously sailing through this baby growing lark with serene aplomb.
I think dh would be quite wounded by my description. He does chat but doesn't have my ability to chatter on endlessly about nothing.
The 12 hours was not repeated sadly.

Thinking of you Noks.

Dildals · 10/01/2014 18:02

shazz If you had supply issues then Shazzlett would tell you she was not satisfied at the end of a feed. If she pulls off the boob happy and contented then there is nothing to worry about. There are certain set times for growth spurts, I can't remember them, but Dr Google can tell you. It is likely that there will come a time where Shazzlett will want boob continuously, this lasts for a day, maybe a couple and then she grows. You do not need to buy an app for this. Just respond to your baby's needs. STOP WORRYING! Shazzlett's asking for the boob more often is the natural way of upping your supply. Nature has it all sorted for you. Milk supply tends to be a bit lower in the evening, so around this time Shazzlett may start to get a bit annoyed. Rest assured there is nothing wrong with supply. At this point mums start doubting themselves sometimes (me included, often not helped by DH), but just keep offering baby boob and supply will sort itself out.

SweetieTime · 10/01/2014 18:53

Shazza i would keep the appointment for talking therapy too. I am sure they are just keeping an eye of you which is a good thing. I hear my DH singing songs to the twins, they are not real songs just rhymes he has made up but I am not that way either. I do chat to them about what I am doing but I think these things come easier to some people than others. Don't worry about it as I am sure Shazlette is getting the right balance from both of you.

Can I just ask a quick question about lochia and how long these have lasted? Mine seems to have got heavier over the last day or so, I am 3.4 weeks post birth, same as Gin It seemed to ease off but then started up again. It is very dark in colour and a bit clotty but no odour or anything. I am seeing the midwife on Tuesday but I would have expected it to have stopped by now. Any thoughts?

fairypangolin · 10/01/2014 19:02

expat and here I thought Captain Calamari was a Belgian children's TV character, like Monsieur Moule or Mevrouw Frieten. Grin

fairypangolin · 10/01/2014 19:04

sweetie lochia stops and starts if you have suddenly been more active. My MW said if there is no odour and you have no abdominal pain then don't worry. When I had my EMCS with DS I had lochia for 6 weeks so it can last quite a while.

SweetieTime · 10/01/2014 19:18

Thanks Fairy we were out most of yesterday walking around a shopping centre so that might have got things moving again. I though with c-sec it doesn't last so long but that must not be the case.

fairypangolin · 10/01/2014 19:28

sweetie when I had the 6 weeks lochia with DS the MW said oh that's because you've had a CS and there's a lot of trauma to the womb. Then when I had very heavy lochia (but much shorter) with DD the MW said oh that's because you haven't had a CS, if you had one they would have mopped up the inside a lot more so there'd be less blood. There's an explanation for everything! Grin

ExpatAl · 10/01/2014 19:39

Haha Fairy! He was a Xmas pressie and a great success with M. We have the tuneful elephant and Percy Peacock too and she liked them.
Would love to hear of any y toys you guys have.
She loves her Baby Bright book and stares at it for ages. She gets pretty ratty if I get distracted and hold it wrong and recently has started holding it herself and turning the page.

OnionRing · 10/01/2014 19:45

I was told less lochia after a section but that was bollocks. I had weeks of it on and off. As long as no sharp stabbing or severe pain or odour then don't worry. Some pain is normal apparently as everything shrinks back. (From a rubber dinghy to a pear or something equally ghastly!)

Shazza, I'm glad you left DP to it. Soon you won't even think about it. On DD1s first day at school I kept crying thinking of her trying to manage everything and being only just 4, now I don't worry about her at all and she's mostly fine. They find a way to manage without you!

Yes al you'd think she would increase her nap length eventually, she's awkward though. I'm about to put her down in her cot and see how long she lasts.

I'd join FB but I never ever get chance. As soon as I can I will as I want to see photos. I don't want to reactivate my old account so I'll have to do it to a new email address etc.

Shazzamattazzerly · 10/01/2014 19:48

Sweetie my lochia lasted about 5-6 weeks on and off. I thought it had stopped then abit more came yesterday.
Dildals thanks for the reassurance. She hasn't eaten much today and has slept (in the sling) quite a lot. We've just had a feed and she has fallen asleep again. Suits me I'm watching Footloose. So cool! I've just looked up the wonder weeks app. I'm going to get that it sounds good.

Expat I know. I had a chat with the HV and then later she called me and read back what I had said and it sounded bad. It sounded like I don't chat to my baby but I do. Just not ALL the time. Now she keeps asking if I'm bonding with my baby and the dr is saying to keep the appt otherwise it could look suspicious. Blimey talk about over blowing the situation. I was teary and I appreciate the help but now there is talk about investigating me if I cancel the appt!

ExpatAl · 10/01/2014 19:54

Sweetie mine stopped and started too. I think like Fairy it lasted around 6 weeks. After a CS if it suddenly gets heavier it's a sign you should take things a bit easier.

Shazzamattazzerly · 10/01/2014 19:55

Cross post onion. I almost can't bear to think of her managing without me yet. Smile

Expat I'm not really playing with toys yet. We have been given so many sweet soft toys including some Lamaze ones. DP shows her a little cloth book that was lent to us and he says she likes it. Like I said my time with her tends to be taken up with practical things, feeding, changing etc. I have given her a few massages though which I love. She has such a sweet little body and swidgy limbs.

ExpatAl · 10/01/2014 20:35

It's actually pretty scary Shaz with how it's escalated but the talking therapy might be good - you might as well make the most of it!

Dildals · 10/01/2014 20:53

shaz So my rant about the Wonder Weeks app being a load of bull didn't make much of an impression then?! ;-) You might as well read a horoscope.

al Captain Calamari ... awesome ... I want one!!! We got given a Lamaze Owl, aptly named ... Owlie ... I've looked her up now, apparently she's called Olivia the Owl. Oooh get you Olivia all posh!

She's only v recently started really looking at Owlie. She got a cot mobile for xmas which is a big hit. She now also started to swat at the toybar on her bouncer (after I made it shorter, so she could actually reach!) She's still not interested in her baby gym. Apart from that she doesn't have any toys!! No singing star, cloth books or anything. I'll google this Bright Book thing.

ExpatAl · 10/01/2014 20:53

I hate the idea of M without me. We were lying next to each other this morning with her chirpy and chatty and me pretending to eat her hand as you do, and going back to work popped into my head and I had a proper sob about it in the shower. I know it will be fine and I enjoy my work but I can't bear the thought of being without her.

ExpatAl · 10/01/2014 21:02

M still has zero interest in the toy bar. It's not very inspiring so can't blame her. I saw the pic of B's cot mobile and it looks fab. We have the ferguson wimmer mobile over her changing mat and in the early days it was brilliant at keeping her entertained, especially when changing her clothes.

OnionRing · 10/01/2014 22:16

We really don't do baby toys here. We had a baby gym that was good for a bit but now we have some rattles, balls, cloth books and a couple of soft toys but she mostly loves playing with the remote controls, my phone, purse, keys, anything she's not supposed to really.

Shazza I think they are over reacting with you but go along with it. I was labelled high risk for PND because of my history and I've been dead honest with them and they've been fine with that. I moan for 90% of the appointment but then tell then how much I enjoy her.

Two hours in her cot tonight. Two glasses of wine for me and now I'm going to sleep knowing I'll get a lie in tomorrow. Hurrah.

I hope noks is ok.

OnionRing · 10/01/2014 22:21

Al I actually CAN bear the thought of her without me because (because of DD1) I already know the nursery staff who will have her and they are lovely, kind women who know what they're doing. Hopefully you'll find you have faith in who you leave her with and it will be ok!

Dildals · 10/01/2014 22:29

Bella has a mirror next to her changing mat, which ranks just under 'lights' on her list of major interests!

ExpatAl · 10/01/2014 22:52

Cheers Onion. Am quaffing wine merrily tonight too. Thanks for the words of encouragement. I know it will be fine, but 6 months is very little.

Nokkie73 · 11/01/2014 09:49

Hi all. Just a quickie to say that I've had a rough night. The naughty nipper is back to back and I can't lie down at all. I've had the TENS machine on constantly and as much codeine as I can lay my hands on. They are re-examining me at half three. They may try to break my waters or if conditions aren't favourable, take the pessary out, give me a 24 hour break and then start again. I think I'm in it for the long haul as I am contracting.....but slowly. I had a couple of cries in the night (got more drugs) but am feeling a bit more positive now. Am just knackered ! Keep shouting for me girls.....xx

ExpatAl · 11/01/2014 10:39

Oh bless you Noks, that sounds painful. Hang on in there - your reward is a comin'
Am SHOUTING. Baby M and DH are lokng at me a bit strangely.

keepitgoing · 11/01/2014 10:41

oh noks it sounds tough. the tens machine is a bit shit, hey? hope you get more drugs and it speeds up x

ExpatAl · 11/01/2014 10:50

You'll soon be holding your gorgeous snuggly beautiful Noklet

MrsHY1 · 11/01/2014 10:51

Stay positive Noks. Took me a long time as a proportion of the overall labour to get to 1.5cm, then it sped up nicely. If you need me and Dildals to pop down the road to Peckham to score you some top grade horse (I'm not really sure what I'm talking about here) and bring it to you then we will. GO NOKS GO. AND TURN YOU LITTLE FUCKER, TURN (THE BABY, NOT YOU NOKS)
