I loved being pregnant too...

shaz dh has had a bottle of ebm but she's only ever taken about 30mls. I'm pretty certain she's not hungry as after he's settled her (quicker each day) she then sleeps for 3 hours. last night her first wake up wasn't till 11 (it had crept to 8.45...) so maybe we are making progress. if nothing else it's allowed me to sleep 9-2.30 which is amazing. unfortunately dh is now on nights for a week so back to me. I'm sorry shazlett is up too, though I think she's still doing a good run early in the night at least?

foody are you still out there too?

Shazzamattazzerly · 07/04/2014 22:00

Hi keep
No, shazlett has taken to waking up twice during the first hour and a half of putting down and it's on the third attempt that she sleeps for about 4/5 hours. Then it's every 1.5-2 hours after that. I usually feed her for the first 2 wakings then last night I settled her at the 5am waking without milk until 6.45.

I'm reading Gina at the moment for my course and she mentions expressing 60 ml from a breast. I'm lucky to get 30 ml in total now no matter what time of day. Shazlett is growing but I wish I could get some ebm to store up ready for when I do the course and we need a couple of bottles a day. I can't even express one bottle per day. It's takes me acouple of days to produce one. Luckily shazlett will take a bottle so at the moment we are only doing it every few days to keep her practising.

I hope things improve for you.

Hope everyone had a good day.

Hi keep and shazza, sorry to hear about all the sleeping troubles ... I think we are going to find out the sex today, but say to people that we haven't, just so it's our little secret! I wasn't going to find out, but DH now really wants to and I guess I think what's the harm really. Scan is at 11 so I'll check back in later with news Grin.

keepitgoing · 08/04/2014 07:12

good luck choco!!Grin Grin

shaz you could give her formula when on your course. less faff with expressing? when is it? she's nearly 5m, will be eating food soon. sorry you're having expressing probs. I'm lucky I get it quite easily

our latest tries re settling sans boob are going well. crossing fingers...

keepitgoing · 08/04/2014 07:12

PS choco surely you'll tell us Wink Wink

MrsHY1 · 08/04/2014 22:35

Keep and Shazz hang in there my lovelies. Keep- how does DH settle Kip with no milk- is it pupd? Tips required! I've been out for a friend's birthday and am pleasantly ratarsed. I hope MiniHY has the decency to keep a lid on it tonight (if there was an emoticon that summed up 'and pigs might bloody fly' I'd be using it now :) )

Keep sorry to hear you are having such a tough time of things sleep wise. I am dreading twins getting the same. I keep toying with moving them into their own room but know it will be a nightmare if I am up and down all night trying to settle them, at least if they are still in our room it might be easier

Shazza same goes for you, i hope things get resolved really soon. Sleeplessness is so difficult. I am sure the odd bit of formula won't do any harm if you are struggling.

MrsH did you get a good nights sleep?

Choco so did you find out?

We have had our final set of jabs this morning and the twins have been really restless and grouchy all day. I am not looking forward to this evening - wish me luck!!!
I am not feeling myself either but we are going to the Lake District for a few days next week so really looking forward to that and having DH on hand full time.

MrsHY1 · 10/04/2014 11:50

Hiya Sweetie
I had a few nights of blissful rest and not having to get out of bed at all when I first moved mini into her own room- not now though lol!!
Nope, she didn't behave last night or the night before, but last night was easier to manage as I didn't have a throbbing hangover (which was gnawing away at my temples when she woke at 2!). It's hard to recall in the fug of sleeplessness but I think last night was marginally better in that she was still very vocal between 4 and 6 but seemed to put herself back to sleep for a good few power naps in that time and would only yell a few times (enough to make me peel back the covers but then she'd stop again!!). I'm hoping she's remembering her pre-holiday routine...Shock

Mrs it must be almost more frustrating for you having had a few good nights... can't be forever eh? I do wonder if our holiday too was just at the wrong time. yes we are doing pupd. basically if she wakes before midnight, or within 3 hours of a feed we do pupd. hoping to stretch/drop feeds slowly as she's used to them. simply - pick up and comfort, put down once calm but before asleep. she'll usually then suck her thumb maybe doze for a bit, often repeat. usually once off she will then sleep 2.5-3 hours. it has certainly stopped the 90 min wake ups and is proving to me she can go quite a long time without food. eg last night 10-3.30 (with a pupd session by my mum at 12-1ish though with periods of sleep within that. she doesn't get very upset now). I am hoping if we just don't feed at 12/1 she'll stop waking but I just don't know - maybe she's waking for developmental reasons. either way it means I can sleep more Grin and feel like things are not sliding worse and worse

sweetie hope the grumpiness was just short lived. I can see why you are loath to rock the boat. I think moving house and holiday were bad for kip's kip... when I'm ready to move her I was thinking dh and I will move to the spare room for a bit first, leaving her where she is to see how it goes. having said that your twins sleep in the nursery 7-10 so I'm sure they'd be fine. I'd have thought moving them to their own cots will be harder for them - when does one do that?

choco hope all is well? come tell us x

we are off to London today. it's always really hard to get kip to eat when we are out as she's so distractable. so am expecting a grumpy baby by home time.

chocolocodowninacapulco · 11/04/2014 14:48

Scan was great, baby good and healthy Smile

keepitgoing · 11/04/2014 15:21

good thanks for letting us know Smile congratulations.

MrsHY1 · 11/04/2014 17:41

Thanks for the info Keep- sounds good. It was a better night last night- I've decided to stick with the late awake feed between 10.15 and 10.30. If she wakes before 10.15 I'm also going to do verbal reassurance. I'm afraid it is a bit cc but pupd seems to agitate her, whereas the sound of my voice seems to calm her. Ditto if she wakes in the night. Then will offer milk when I know she's genuinely hungry (after 5.30am). From a few nights of observation I've realised it's sucking on the bottle that soothes, not the milk. In fact at 3.30 last night she was positively pissed off that the bottle was dispensing milk! I think it's a legacy of the dummy and night feeds on hols. Dummy now banned.

OP posts:
SweetieTime · 12/04/2014 19:32

MrsH the dummy thing is a funny one as F is a dummy lover, but has become less reliant on it at night. He has it in the day much more but not at bed time. If he wakes in the night we give him a dummy but he doesn't cry when it drops out like he used to do. Of course we don't have any of this with the thumb sucker!!!

Keep how did you all get on in London?
I went to Drs yesterday and he was asking about our routine - not related to why I went just in conversation as he has a young child. I told him we move the twins into our room at 10, he seemed genuinely surprised and asked me why? I said that the guidance is 6 months for them in our room etc. He said if they are ok in the nursery to leave them as everyone may get better sleep. So we are definitely going to do it when we get back from the Lakes. I have been a bit worried about them getting tangled in each others sleeping bags in the travel cot we have in our room as they are getting very snug in there now and often turn around 180 degrees.

I hope our few nights away in the Lakes doesn't upset our routine too much. I am sure our Spain holiday in May will really knock things out but I will deal with that when it happens, although I am already dreading it.

keepitgoing · 13/04/2014 12:31

thanks sweetie London was good other than a busy train on the way home and me having to entertain an awake baby in front of a table of people for 1.5 hours... you realise what a nutter you sound like

I honestly wouldn't worry about what'll happen in the future re routine/sleep etc. there are so many things that will change you can't take anything for granted. but equally your twins sound very chilled out so hopefully will take things in their stride. are your eyes any better?

keepitgoing · 13/04/2014 12:33

mrsH I agree it's the sucking. last night dh settled her with 25mls of ebm. ridiculous. I've told him not to give in now. she acts like dummy chokes her but apparently calmed once the bottle was in her mouth. she must have forgotten about her thumb Hmm

MrsHY1 · 15/04/2014 09:14

Keep that was exactly what miniHY is/was like - try the dummy - infuriated. Slip a bottle teat in - few sucks - instantly calm and sent back to sleep! Wtf. I offered some water at the 3am wake-up last night - she took a slug but importantly (I hope) wasn't looking sleepy when I popped her down - but did go back off immediately and apart from a few shouts in her sleep that was it until 6am this morning when I resettled for 30 mins or so by putting the sheep on. She only took 60ml at the late feed so blatantly doesn't need it but I'm going to stick with it until the 2/3am wake-up resolves itself. I'm not sure that I'll be able to do much about the shouting in her light sleep - I think it's what she does to resettle herself back again. it literally lasts less than 10 seconds but wakes me up every time!
