Great scan news aly! Really don't worry about a few days here or there.

Welcome sarah & banana and congrats on your bfps!

Santa sorry to hear you've not been able to have a sweep today. Fingers crossed something happens over the next few days.

Not feeling being back at work today but after today only 11 days left until mat leave!

Pixielady83 · 02/01/2014 13:43

Oh santa that's so frustrating they're not taking lack of growth more seriously Angry when I had DD the mw told me my placenta was looking like it was on it's last legs (this was a week before due date as well) and it's something I really worry about, but every time I mention it to a mw or consultant this time they just dismiss my concern. Is the baby moving as frequently as usual etc? If you have the slightest concern I think I would be tempted to perhaps claim reduced movement and go in for some monitoring to be on the safe side. I know it's not entirely truthful but if it puts your mind at rest and if they're not going to check otherwise it might be worthwhile. I'm so paranoid about this kind of thing so perhaps not the best person to listen to. I find the bump measuring thing so frustrating - apparently it is pretty meaningless unless the same mw does it everytime as they all do it differently Hmm why they can't just do a routine growth and checking scan at 36/37 weeks as other countries do I don't know. For some reason, they've failed to do me a growth chart at all - chased it up with mw at last appointment and she was pretty non plussed about it and half heartedly agreed to chase up with hospital.

NerdyBird · 02/01/2014 14:27

Hi everyone.

Having a very lazy day (I shouldn't be, but don't care) whilst DP is at work and DSDs are away.
aly glad scan was fine. Don't worry about dates. According to LMP date I should be nearly 16 weeks. Am clearly not. First scan put me at 6w, second one at 7+4, which worked with each other and with conception date. My 12 week scan is tomorrow, right on the nose.

Welcome to new peeps!

fod27 · 02/01/2014 15:48

Can my place of employment refuse to pay me for time off for antenatal classes?

Pixielady83 · 02/01/2014 15:57

fod - no they can't www.gov.uk/working-when-pregnant-your-rights

The only circumstances in which they could refuse to either allow you time off or paid time off would be for an aquanatal class or something similar which you hadn't had 'recommended' by your GP or midwife (and by recommended I would advise that's based on a medical requirement rather than 'it would be nice for you to do this').

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 02/01/2014 16:38

Oi! Santa! I heard that! Hmm Grin
I don't get wrathful! I just encourage people notto keep giving money to flipping Clear Blue in the name of their sanity! Wink Grin
I wouldn't get the rage at you lovely ladies, you've kept me sane for long enough!
Oh and welcome Banana. Smile

Pentagon · 02/01/2014 16:40

great scan news Kat and aly

Welcome sarah & banana, all the best for your pregnancies

santa not long now hopefully!

MissMedusa · 02/01/2014 16:43

Thank you for sharing your story sarah
I have had a stitch but it was put in as an emergency. Doctors predict delivery between 26-28 weeks.

Sarah2013mum · 02/01/2014 17:59

[missmedusa] fingers crossed for a later delivery for you.
Although sometimes it isn't about gestational age it is how the baby presents itself when born. They told me that my DD was a good weight for 28 weeks, there was a baby born who I became good friends with her mum who was born at 25 weeks and she had quite a rough time in nicu but she is perfectly healthy now with no issues.
I wish you all the best with your pregnancy! Xx

Thank you for all welcomes. I'm really glad I've found this thread! Early scan tomoro :/ and nervous is an understatement. Xx

bakingtins · 02/01/2014 20:46

Just checking back in.
Welcome and congrats to sarah and banana
Yay for good scan news aly and kat
saggy I'm with you as far as good riddance to 2013 goes, 2014 is going to be much more positive though I do believe I said that a year ago too
Not much to report here, I think I have started to feel movements over the last week but not v consistent. Starting to accumulate scan doom again for 20 week scan on the 17th...

MissHobart · 02/01/2014 21:27

BakingTins - Same here, everyone keeps saying, "2014 will be much better" - I said that at the end of 2012 too Hmm

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 02/01/2014 22:03

Tins 20 weeks! Smile where dies the time go!?

alicebear · 02/01/2014 22:58

aly great scan news. Fab there was a strong heartbeat & as others have said it's not unusual to be out by a few days in the early weeks. Measuring when it's so tiny must make it hard to be really accurate. I was dated at 6+6 when I thought I should have been 7+2. 2 wks later I was bang on at 9+2. I was worried too but try not to be - a heartbeat is a really reassuring sign.
Sorry you couldn't have your sweep santa fingers crossed things will get going soon & if you are worried do see if you can get a scan.
Good luck to people with scans soon. Hope to hear more good news.

pgchimp · 03/01/2014 08:30

hello and happy New year to all of us. 2014 is going to be an exciting year (notice the posifrickintivity). we had a busy but lovely Christmas and new year. I had my 16 week mw appt on New year's eve (although was actually 17+1) and got to hear the heart beat, which was lovely and is keeping me positive.
everyone keeps saying I must be in blooming phase now, but I am just exhausted!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 03/01/2014 10:31

They should ammendment the 'phase' to 'blooming exhausted'!

Scan in 4hrs. Read all the stuff, but don't know if I need to have full or empty bladder or if it doesn't matter.
Also used my last remaining pregnancy test this morning (I know!) and it came up with a line, which has helped a bit but I'm still half expecting it to turn out to be another MMC.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 03/01/2014 10:49

I had terrible nightmares last night about early labour. I spent most of the night trying to phone an ambulance and my stupid phone wouldn't work...
It was all of my recurrent dreams and all of my worries mixed into one!!
What REALLY peed me off was that I never got to see the baby! Angry Just as I was about to, I flipping well woke up!
Bloody hormones!

Sarah2013mum · 03/01/2014 10:51

Good luck [bird] at your scan, I've just got bk from mine. I'm around 5 and half weeks everything in right place but have to go bk in 2 to make sure :/ I had full bladder but had to have internal too to see better

Not sure how much reassured I feel after mine really but hoping these next 2 weeks fly by !

Sarah2013mum · 03/01/2014 10:51

bird sorry will get the hang of this soon lol xx

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 03/01/2014 10:55

Nerdy I cant find you on the stats list but im sure you arent too far along, a full bladder is probably a good idea. You can always pee when you get there if they decide you don't need one.
It's hell though! My scan unit is about half a mile walk from the hospital car park. By the time I got there with a pint or two of water inside me I was crying! Thankfully nowadays bump is so huge it doesn't matter!

Armadale · 03/01/2014 10:59

Hello everyone, I'm just arriving if that's OK.....Saggy invited me over from another thread. Somehow this thread has eluded me up till now!

I'm currently 8+5 into my 6th PG and I'm really hoping this will be the one.

I'm going to read back over the thread today and try and get to know you all a little x

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 03/01/2014 11:00

Sarah everything in the right place is excellent. Way more than half the battle at that stage IMO. Its quite normal to not see a heart beat at that stage, im sure the next one will just be the icing on the cake. Smile

Hello all. Well, apparently I'm pregnant Wink I reckon about 4 weeks so really early. My history is: 1 mmc, dd1, 1 mmc, 1 mc, dd2. So given my history I am not getting excited and actually bricking it. I am doing this different though: taking progesterone, vitamin d, and magnesium. I did this with dd2 and she obviously stuck so we will see. I'll start baby aspirin at 6 weeks. I'll go for a scan at 7 weeks as most of mine have gone wrong in week 6. So far only symptom is extreme tiredness and a bit emotional (I found Frozen incredibly sad). A but worried that my boobs don't hurt at all. Has anyone ever had miscarriages then consecutive successful pregnancies, or are odds not in my favour?

Just wanted to say armandale I saw your other thread yesterday and was so pleased for you Grin

sarah I had a scan at 5+6 with dd2 and they saw nothing except the sac too. It's good news Grin
