I forgot to say congratz to penguin! and choc almost there, how exciting! I was convinced I would be at least a week late (if I were a gambler, I would have bet money - I was that certain!) and ended up being 5 days early. So you never know! indeed, where is cbeebies?

Penguinita · 14/12/2013 06:40

Lol emki, hope you got some Brew and an early night to get over your long week! Wishing you all the best for your scan next week, it must be a very anxious time for you.

Can I ask if you have felt any movement yet? I had a weird sensation a couple of times when I was 14 weeks, but nothing since. But it is my first one, so it will probably take longer.

Not heard much from our due date buddy emberlina recently, hope that means all is well.

christine that is very sad news about your nephews mum Sad

I'm going to mothercare today to buy a Christmas present for a friend's newborn. Must... Resist... Buying... Everything...

kjh5 · 14/12/2013 08:45

penguin I first felt identifiable kicks at 17+6. However, everyone I have spoken to says this is quite early for a first baby. I think a lot is dependent on where the baby and placenta are in your womb. I have a posterior placenta and the bubba sits quite far forward which is why I think I felt him so early. I now feel kicks every 2 hours or so and lots of other movement all day. However a friend of mine didn't start feeling anything with her little boy until 22 weeks and then it was only every second day or so to begin with. So it varies from person to person but I will say that when the little blighter isn't keeping you up all night by having a little dance party on your stomach it's a wonderful feeling! Happy shopping! I went into baby Gap yesterday and bought some little vests for our boy (still feels surreal saying that) but managed to be restrained!

Christine that is such sad news :( I think we take stuff like this harder than most because we know how it feels!

Hope all the newbies are doing ok - try not to panic too much, the early days are the worst but you'll get through them!

Pixielady83 · 14/12/2013 09:39

happy weekend everyone Smile

mabel alice and aly welcome and many congrats, hope all will go very smoothly for you xxx

kjh congrats on a blue bump! I am so envious of you being able to start shopping now!

scone congrats on good scan also Smile

kat sorry not very good at interior design but I would recommend led spotlights for a kitchen, they last heaps longer than halogen which we previously had- they used to go all the time and then one exploded one day embedding glass splinters into everything in the kitchen including bottle teats Shock we weren't in there but imagine if we had been! it was an Ikea fitting, I think our new one is b&q.

christine glad you're feeling better but so sorry to hear that news, I do think you feel it more acutely when you've known loss. I hope your ex SIL is getting lots of support Thanks

hi pentagon hope Elsie is doing well! is DD excited for Christmas? DD here is in overdrive not sure we can sustain the energy for another 10 days- Christmas craft and shortbread today (and endless discussion of father Christmas Xmas Grin

penguin I felt first movements with DD at 14 wks and this time at 16 wks both very early I think for most people its 18wks +

saggy sorry you are feeling achy and rubbish. Have you had a chat with midwife? will be thinking of you in your Christmas rush, really hope you get a rest after Christmas?

Emberlina76 · 14/12/2013 09:41

Hey hey hey ladies!
I've been AWOL for ages as work is a complete joke, haven't had a minute where I'm not working or sleeping lately!
Need to get a cuppa and have a good old catch up on what's been happening now!
My Harmony test results cane back last Fri and were negative (thank GOD!) but then had a confusing appt with the consultant and screening midwife at the NHS on Monday where, reading between the lines it appears that if you go off and pay for a Harmony test off your own back they get the hump with you and disregard it. So I have a harmony test showing that I am more than a 1:10,000 risk for downs and nasty scrawl all over my notes saying 'HIGH RISK DOWNS' and growth scans booked for 20 weeks, 28 weeks and 36 weeks because of this. Stupid screening midwife offered me an Amnio! I mean HELLO! What the actual F? Spoke to my lovely community midwife and she said that the screening midwife had actually called her and have her grief over me not going to the hospital and checking my NHS options first. I knew what they were!
Just bugs a bit, I am a 37 (almost) year old woman who has been through A LOT in the baby making area, can I not make my own frigging mind up?!
Anyway, off to catch up on posts
E xx

MissMedusa · 14/12/2013 09:56

penguin I'm 17+4 today and if I'm paying attention, I can feel him at least once a day and I have even have an anterior placenta. I think I felt the first pop some time at 14 weeks but it's hard to know if it's baby or gas at this point. Now, due to being on bed rest, I have nothing to do but pay attention and I definitely feel him but I think if I was busy living a normal life, it would be easy to miss.

NerdyBird · 15/12/2013 13:51

Have only been dipping in and out recently but have caught up now.

kjh glad you had a good scan, and penguinita sorry your midwife appt wasn't great. If she gave you someone else's results it would be a good idea to let them know if you haven't already.

Welcome newly preggers ladies! aly glad to see another from the TTC thread over here!

Not sure if fedup is still reading, but if so please take care and give yourself time to recover before making any decisions about TTC.

I am back to worrying that I have had another MMC. Had a little spotting the other day, but we had DTD the night before so hoping it was to do with that. Symptoms still come and go, one of my boobs was so painful last night I was actually squeaking at the pain. But I know it doesn't necessarily mean anything. I've got an appointment at the high risk clinic on tuesday, don't know what happens there, presumably I won't get a scan but I can at least tell them my worries.

Louzul · 15/12/2013 16:57

mabel alice and aly welcome and here's to a smooth PG! Today you are pregnant!

I managed to survive the work xmas do!! A close colleagues know, and they sneaked my champagne when nobody was looking, and then I had sparkling elderflower, which I swear to god looks identical to white wine. Top tip!

Also today is a mini hurdle and its the same point in my PG that I had my MC,a nd even though it's made me very sad, I've got through that milestone with this PG. Now booking in appt on Weds, and the 12 week on the 6th of Jan.

Nerdy I am sure it was to do with the DTD. I totally understand the concern though and you are totally right to flag it on Tuesday.

Meanwhile I hope that you of the rest of you are well? All I've managed to do for most of today is quiver on the sofa. Feeling so tired....!!

lj123 · 15/12/2013 17:00

I found out last night I'm pregnant!
I've had 4 MC and 1 ectopic, all pregnancies had some kind of bleeding, so far so good, not sure I even believe it myself.
All fingers and toes crossed for you guys in the similar boat. Xx

thepiggotupandslowlywalkedaway · 15/12/2013 21:14

I'm just popping in to wave, and say hello and sorry I haven't kept up with everyone, and be very cheeky in asking for some good thoughts for the ol' 20-weeker tomorrow. I've been feeling movement, but it's all a bit intermittent, so I am a bit neurotic about it tomorrow. Scan Doom! Scan Dooooom! I suspect chocolate will be involved later, whatever the results.

Off to spend quite some time reading up on what's been going on in here!

ChristineDaae · 15/12/2013 22:03

Evening all, iv come home to stay with my mum for a few weeks over Christmas since I'm signed off. Loving having all my family around but missing DP like mad - must be the hormones usually I'm fine and glad to be rid of him Wink
Nerdy - it is most like due to DTD, I bled every time during the first trimester, in fact half of the second too, then had a few weeks break and now I bleed again afterwards after hitting 32/33 weeks. You should def mention it though.
Hope everyone is doing well.
Pig - best of luck for the scan, seems like just a week or 2 since your 12 week!

Emki · 15/12/2013 22:18

Hello all. Just had a quick scan and just want to say I'm thinking of you nerdy and see if you can get a scan on Tuesday if you think that will help you, but sounds like your spotting was from DTD.

Good luck tomorrow thepiggotupandslowlywalkedaway Will thinking of you - I too have scan doom for Wednesday - i'll be about 17wks (another reassurance scan for me)

congrats lj on your BFP and here's to a very smooth and uneventful pregnancy.

penguin I think I have felt little movements - but so terrified at the moment to believe it and I think i'm fooling myself - but I think I have. For my first pregnancy with DD I didn't feel them till much later -I think I was about 22 wks!! However I think we're so focused now that we are really looking out for them.

Are you using your doppler still? I'm wondering if to get one or if it will make me more neurotic!

Hope everyone has a good Monday - last week of school for me - hooray!! It's been a very long term in so many ways!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 15/12/2013 23:45

Dear God! I'm having a drama queen moment! Sad Angry There's been a car alarm going off next door for the last hour, something in my room keeps going "breep", DS didn't turn the heating off when I asked him to and my radiator keeps going ping, I had four hours sleep last night and I have to be up at 6.30. Sad Sad

Can I fecking sleep? Can I buggery! Sad Angry Angry

Bootyluscious · 16/12/2013 02:12

Hello everybody, I'm checking in after a long absence - finishing work & completing 'the list'! of baby things to do, buy & sort out has been keeping me busy but I'm close to the top of the stats list so thought I'd update. Smile

Congrats to all the new mummies & new BFP arrivals - best wishes for the months ahead.

Anyways, went to hospital yesterday expecting to have the dreaded sweep (I'm due on 19/20th but due to the baby being a tad on the small side & an expat on private med cover so able to request it they were happy to oblige sweeping me slightly early) and I'm only bloody 3cm dilated already! How that has happened and I've not noticed I have no idea (hoping I have a fanjo of steel & labour will therefore be a breeze). But long story short I'm due in tomorrow to be kick started. So fingers crossed I can add another little thread baby sooner rather than later. Will update further once anything happens. Absolutely bricking it - all feels a bit 'real' now! Shock

kjh5 · 16/12/2013 08:24

Welcome lj - congrats on your BFP! Here's hoping you have a smooth pregnancy!

Good luck for your scan today thepig - I was so worried about mine and as soon as they flipped on the monitor I realised they just saw it as a routine appointment to take measurements and that helped me relax enormously and enjoy the sight of our bubba on screen! It's amazing everything you see so try not to worry and take it all in!

nerdy hope you're ok and the spotting has stopped. As everyone else says hopefully it's nothing to worry about.

saggy how are you coping with your awful night? Hope you're not too knackered! I can sympathise - DH is tiling our bathroom at the mo, a 'two-day job max - honest!' Is turning into 5days of concrete and tile-dust hell. So I eventually moved out at midnight and went to stay at a friend's place only for the SPD (or whatever it is I'm suffering from) kicked in with a vengeance and I spent tr whole night pacing around trying to ease the pain in my hips. Another physio appt on Weds on the NHS this time. If they dare mention pelvic floor exercises I have Visions of me losing the plot and screaming 'I need immediate relief!' Three weeks of being unable to sleep/walk due to constant pain are taking their toll!

pgchimp · 16/12/2013 08:29

welcome to all the newbies and here's to very uneventful boring pgs for all of you.
emberlina, I just had to say I think that is appalling behaviour from the NHS staff. it is supposed to be all about patient choice!

boots, good luck and hoping for a nice birth for you.

kjh5 · 16/12/2013 08:32

Ooh good luck Booty! Here's hoping for a pre-Christmas thread baby :)

Chocolate happy due date! How are you getting on? Hope it's not too much longer for you x

thepiggotupandslowlywalkedaway · 16/12/2013 08:54

Good luck Booty!

kjh, meant to mention that boys are great! I had a boy vibe all through when baking DS, although I secretly wanted a girl, but I wouldn't change him for anything now I've got him.

Saggy, sorry you've had an awful night. Reminds me of when one of the smoke alarms needed a battery replacing. The bloody thing only beeped in the small hours of the morning, and could I figure out which one it was? Could I buggery. Hope you get through the day OK today.

WhatWillSantaBring · 16/12/2013 09:00

Oooh, good luck booty - well done for getting to 3cm without noticing GrinEnvy

Welcome aly and alice and mabel - I think I recognise you all from the TTC thread. Its lovely in here, so I hope very very much you can stay.

I'm still at work and now 38 weeks. My three big paranioas (sp?) are (1) going into labour at work (how embarassing - a lady at my last company did, and even though it happend 15 years previously, people still talked about it "oh, did you know, Belinda went into labour while she was dictating" (usually said in a discussion about what a hard nosed bitch how career focussed she was)
(2) going over by two weeks (DC 1 was early, so I have no experience of this) and
(3) [the big one] going into labour on Christmas night and not being there for DC1 in the morning. I will be utterly devastated to miss out on being there when the stocking is discovered, because she is so excited and her expectations are set so low (at the moment, she thinks Santa is going to bring her just one present). I don't mind missing out on the turkey or even the presents under the tree, but I really really want to be there in the morning. Sad. I know this sounds silly, but the thought of missing out makes me cry.

[stupid stupid time of year to have a baby]

On the plus side, four of my five friends who have had various infertility/MC issues over the past 3 years are all currently pregnant. Having been through some of the pain they have, I am just so happy for them - even more so than I was for me. Just one more couple to go, and then its a full house. Maybe 2013 was a very fertile year?

lucyfluff · 16/12/2013 09:33

Hello ladies, I wondered if you would mind me joining the thread?!

I found out last week I am pregnant again (only just 4+3) today! after we had an early miscarraige in October. Im praying this is a sticky bubba Smile

Feel a bit scared to join the antenatel thread just yet!!!

I will have a read through later on Smile

Chocolateteabag · 16/12/2013 11:01

Morning all - due date today and nothing seems to be happening Hmm
MW appt tomorrow afternoon and may ask for a sweep as would be lovely to be told I was already x cm dilated but will probably chicken out

hi Lucyfluff welcome to the thread and congrats on your BFP - this is a great place to be if antenatal threads are too much like tempting fate (I have never joined the Dec one and seems a bit late now)

Santa - totally get your worries, I am sure I will be having a Christmas sprog - and will miss DS opening his stocking etc. I'll have my family over on Monday for the week (DM, DBro and DSis - who are both younger than me so very obliging aunt and uncle to Ds) so he'll not actually miss out on anything - will just be me (snivel snivel)

ChristineDaae · 16/12/2013 11:03

Good luck booty!
Choc I hope baby chocolate doesn't keep you waiting too long!

NerdyBird · 16/12/2013 11:44

hmm.
not sure if I am having more spotting. Seems like a sort of pale brown discharge really. Going for another knicker check in a minute and then will ring EPU. I can't get there today, plus I have an appointment at another hospital for my colitis this afternoon.
I really don't have any posifrikingtivity left about this pregnancy :(

Oh and on Friday found out a friend is nearly 12 weeks with her second and her first isn't quite 1 yet. Just seems like everyone I know in RL gets pg immediately and has problem free pregnancies. I just wish I could too!

Stay strong Nerdy pale brown discharge is probably just a clear out.
It's hard when you see/feel everyone around you seems to have it easier too. Try not to think about them - you really never know how "easy" others have it in reality - partly why we have threads like this!
